It breaks the heart, all of the hatred. Why do they hate them, because they're from another island, or speak French? It smacks of selfishness and greed to throw them out after all they've done. My God, shame on government.

What a SWEET, BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING YOUNG GIRL!😢❤.
What the WORLD tends to forget is that these childern could likely be the next generation of doctors that save lives, scientists that discover how to save our planet, engineers, teachers, etc.....MAKES ME SICK that our government leaders across the world are not realizing the impact of not helping immediately in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and many other areas of the world devastated by natural disasters and poverty how much it will impact the livelihood of Generations to come and the health of our planet in whole in the VERY near future. Actually RIGHT NOW!
AND STILL...Even if these humanbeings only have a future of hard work and survival in the most minimal way....like many of us, "paycheck to paycheck", just being good humanbeings and loving their families. They DESERVE A CHANCE TO LIVE LIFE TO THEIR FULLEST, NO DIFFERENT THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD! PERIOD!
GOD BLESS THESE PEOPLE, THE CHILDERN AND THEIR FAMILIES.😢🙏❤
Btw, THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE DOING THE MOST YOU CAN TO HELP, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY🙏❤

Best for the the undocumented immigrants to go back home. This is just one island that make up the many other Bahamian islands. The Bahamas has a population of 400,000 and 80,000 are Haitian and many landed there illegally and built illegal shantytowns. This cannot happen in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia etc. It's important to have strict building codes for preservation of life for the next hurricane and to prevent the spread of diseases. Many of these illegally built homes have no running water and they have outside toilets with no proper sanitation. It is ripe for disease to spread. The homes are built on stolen land and they live for free.

There are 70,000 Bahamians mostly black that are suffering and who have lost their homes. Why not interview the majority black Bahamians as well? The Bahamas is currently in a state of emergency. They were able to provide free healthcare and a free education for the 80,000 Haitians but can no longer do so post hurricane. Some of the other Caribbean nations like Jamaica should take in a couple thousand Haitians.

    • @Adembers
      @Adembers 5 лет назад +12

The former prime ministers said that 40% of the people in The Mud/Pigeon Peas acquired citizenship or had work permits and we're earning well above the minimum wage. If they used a fraction of what they remitted to Haiti to purchase land, develop property the legal way, they would not be in this position. They still can catch a break because the majority of Haitian immigrants, legal and otherwise are in Nassau. Time for them to rally around their peers. The Bahamas has and continues to do far more for Haitians than most countries. The only thing we get in return is to be disrespected and vilified for not being perfectly pleasant while they use/compete for free public resources and setting up slums wherever they please.

If you read “ A brief account of the destruction of the Indies” by Bartolommeo De Las Casas, everything will become clear as to why the European children, who say they are descendants, wants the Haitians to leave. It it said that when the Spaniards (Spain n Portugal) came ashore on those islands, they thought they were dreaming, because the islands were like a Eden paradise garden. The original ppls of both the Islands and the Americas were black. So for him to say he wanted a closed session was not a good one. His attitude the fact that he wanted them gone, said a lot about the apple not falling far from the tree.
He’s the one that does not belong. He needs to return to his ancestral lands in Spain orcPortugal.

It appears that yes, Haitians illegally came to the Bahamas, acquired work, and made it their home. But, settling down was a temporary accommodation. Now that the Island has been decimated the Government is deporting anyone that is illegal.
Where is the shame in that? You can't help anyone, when you can't help yourself. Should the Bahamian put an illegal before his countrymen?

I can tell you how it turns out. The young girl finishes her education in the Bahamas gets all the benefits of being a Bahamian and then turns around and hates the country because her parents came here illegally and had a hard time.
Meanwhile, we've not put any rules in place that every other country doesn't have. We are not people that discriminate on a cultural basis. You need to be documented for a democracy to exist and they're not abiding by those simple rules. I work alongside Haitian people everyday. The illegals Haitians prefer to build poorly made housing in bushes than to go through the proper process.
Then their children feel like third class citizen and Bahamian people take the blame.

Here's your update. The local workforce has been working constantly. Abaco is still not where it was nearly 2 years after Dorian. The gov hasn't done anything except not taxing Abaconians as ridiculously temporarily. Some foreigners are still aiding but many were forced to leave after covid started. Elbow Cay is the most rebult so far due to heavy direct aid from foreigners and some of the more wealthy residents.

It is. Presently the Bahamaian government is housing hundreds of Haitians that was flown un from Abaco in a stadium on Nassau. This includes feeding them 3 times a day. All at the expense of the BAHAMIAN taxpayers. But enough is enough. At some point the illegals will need to be sent back to Haiti. We do have immigration laws like every other country. We are a very small country with just over 300,000 people there's only so much we can do. Remember countless Bahamians and legal migrants were left homeless as well. These are truly who the government is responsible for yet in an effort to assist they have made it possible for the illegals to live and eat.

    • @armandodemichele1420

The problem is not the peoples' will or man power to get Bahamas back on it's feet, rather government policies and politics getting in the way of aid.

God allow Satan to control this world but in the end when sin run its limit He will take It back. What is important is whether our souls are right with Him because He never promise us this life. Many of us will die. The wages of sin is death. The devil time is short and he will use every means to steal kill and destroy our souls. He will not go down without a fight. I'm Bahamian, and as a Bahamian I really don't get the premises of you major 1st world countries 🤔?
Because as a Bahamian, I cannot illegally go into Britain nor America, and illegally take land and build a home as my own. Why, because it goes against their laws🤔.
There are laws of the land.
I'm black, and I do not look down on my African/ indigenous heritage. Which includes Haitians.
But, there are laws that must be abided. That's all🤷🏽‍♂️.
At least if they come legally, it wouldn't put such a drain on our economic system.
Theres only so much my country can do via helping illegal immigrants.

That 16 year old girl just empowered me. She is a gift to her family. She knows she has to keep the energy going or else her mom, siblings and father will dwindle. Her father had to keep building...what else could he do to keep his sanity.....please make another video about the girl, i want to know her progress.

You guys framed this story in a very misleading way in order to pull on the heart strings. The Abacos have the most accepting relationship with the Haitians over probably any other Bahamian island. You went to the whitest populated island in the Abacos in order to catch them saying something that could be implied as racist. The reason elbow cay wanted those specific Haitians off the island was because they came to the island to loot the rich home owners because there was no security. Elbow cay took a census before the storm and knew exactly who was supposed to be there. There were supplies on the mainland of Abaco so they had no reason to come to elbow cay who were struggling to feed the people there. Truth is it's Bahamians who give work to Haitians, rarely the foreigners do. Haitians are not oppressed in the Abacos. It is a minority that has distaste for them.

The issue isn't funds. They have funds to rebuild. The issue is infrastructure. The infrastructure of the island has been completely destroyed. The have money but not workers to start repairs. They have money for food but no harbors for them to dock. They are basically rebuilding from the ground up. They will have to import workers who want to stick around long enough to help rebuild. They have to rebuild the entire country.

Not only the millionaires, the Bahamian Government, the Prime Minister and Bahamians don't want the Haitians their. They hate the Haitians. They say they don't mind those who are in the Bahamas legally but just from the way tyey have expressed themselves in media and social media platforms shows that they are lying - just hatred towards Haitians as it they're scum of the earth.

I wish he had interviewed the majority of the 10,000 BLACK Bahamians that lived on Great Abaco pre hurricane but had to evacuate to Nassau (capital). Many are going to be coming back to Great Abaco island and there simply won't be enough jobs to go around. The undocumented migrants need to leave. The Bahamas is currently under a state of emergency and they have their hands full. Building illegal, poorly constructed homes is a no no in most lawful countries. These structures cannot hold up in hurricanes and aids in the spread of diseases due to.lack of running water and outdoor toilets.

Thank you, Unreported World, for going to places already forgotten by everyone else. You did the same with my country. I just wish I could help this family. Is there any way to keep up with their situation? That girl has so much potential, she's just two years younger than me yet I have more chances than her and I can't wrap my head around that

As someone stated in the comments, no one is mentioning the widespread looting going on on Abaco island. This reporter spent a significant time on a tiny cay but did not spend a lot of time on the island of Great Abaco. Most of the 10,000 black Bahamians on Great Abaco were forced to temporarily evacuate into Nassau until power is back on and there is running water again in Abaco. More likely, these black Bahamians when they return will find that these Haitian illegal migrants are squatting inside their homes. Where else can this happen? In the U.S, Canada, Europe, Australia? I don't believe so. Squatting inside another person's private property is illegal. Imagine returning to your home after a few months and open your door with your children to find persons living inside your home with machetes and other weapons. This is what is happening. He did not mention this but most of the 10,000 BLACK Bahamians on Abaco island had to flee the island because Haitians were looting homes, businesses and walking around with guns threatening mostly BLACK Bahamians. He should have gone into Nassau where black Bahamians were forced to flee for their lives due to the Haitians threatening violence on Abaco island. Totally left out of the story. Clearly, he was called in by a Haitian group and he unfortunately was ill informed of what truly is occuring there.

Excuse to force them out? Let's remember these ppl came to the Bahamas illegally, squatted on land that's not there's. Where in the world can anyone just move into a country and live there without proper documentation and can just squat on land for free!? I wish true narratives would be reported, there's so much more to this story but whatever makes the story more news worthy. Majority of Bahamians want them to come in the country the Right way.
