Pile 4. Ohhhh I know what this is about. So I play, or used to play, a sport with a group. Then they got all cliquish and I got fed up. This spring, I disappeared completely and NOW they're like, "we miss you!" Well I don't miss them. They're all trying to be socialites in the community and it's hilarious. I'm literally a decade ahead of them in my career and life, despite being around the same age.
I explained plainly that I'm old money. And old money preserveres. New money burns fast in a very flashy manner. They made fun of the dings in my car, my understated appearance, my worn out shoes, not noticing my house, my family, generational wealth.
All of this to say... they thought I was poor and not established in a career. And now I'm standing stronger without any of their friendship.
