Interesting to hear your comments on unplugging a shock disables the system and voltage softens the ride, but of course you want the system to be operational - the whole point of these cars is the comfort. And the point of the EDC is to firm it up a bit for the times you want.
My experience (2006 e66 760Li. At 220,000miles the rear left failed and as the list of problems was very long I replaced it with a Chinese edc strut. After two years the concertina boot failed and after four years the amount of damping at the rear is noticeably different, but not yet an MOT advisory, never mind a fail. As the Parking brake is next on the list, the valve stem seals need doing and the MOST circuit dead, it isn't a car worth throwing money at. So, either I get second hand or a pair of BFO edc struts and use the OE rubber concertinas.
Yes, if it were some RUclips project with sponsorship but it isn't. If it were a minty 50,000 mile car then it wouldn't need shocks.

The other thing I forgot to mention. The UK annual vehicle safety test (MOT) no longer tests shock absorbers - the bounce test was omitted over 10 years ago.
Your car can wobble like a jelly or bounce like a beach ball, but if a dash warning light comes on or one of your number plate bulbs doesn't work!!!
No one in the UK seems to test shocks.

the bounce test doesn't notice if all shocks are worn it won't measure any difference among them

Hi! So what is the difference now? I mean comparing normal new shocks vs EDC with 225000km. Whats the difference in right quality and handling?

Hi, so how does the ride feel with the base strut, compared to the EDC strut? I didn't understand, because I think you said the ride is stiffer when the edc is disconnected, but that the ride will be better when you install the other strut (which doesn't use EDC). ?

bmw is fun to drive like a toy & im not going to ask them to lower their cars prices or change anything in the quality, but to consider to lower their crazy parts prices!! in that time im very sure they will be the next toyota of the world

According to a RUclips suggestion there is actually a place in Poland that rebuilds similar electrically controlled shock absorbers the link supplied is for a BMW 8 Series ruclips.net/video/yhiefvn06pY/видео.html

Anyone have a reference that describes what the EDV voltage looks like when it's all working properly? I'm wondering if they use 1 or 2 DC values, and if so can you point to page that details these? I ask because our BMW i4 w/stock non-EDC dampers has horrible stock base equipment that dives, floats and shakes like jello. KW sells an EDC compatible kit for the fronts only, so wondering if fitting and hacking together simple DC wiring harness would allow a retrofit? I think modern version has accelerometers too, so not very confident it's worth the trouble, but car is so new, there are no other aftermarket options. I4 eDrive40 is 4700 lbs. so needs custom application vs. 4 series Gran Coupe.

never put cheaper shock absorbers on BMW I mean if he have EDC it need to be fit the same you can buy cheap with EDC control but don't get crazy. Why even if you overwrite it gonna come off as a fail in the system and you will not know what it is trust me . Fit what is suppouse to be fit it's for your safety

I drive 2000 750il…if tried the EDC in different modes. I perceive little or no difference…in my judgment it’s an expensive gimmick with little value…these care are over designed.
