Will be great to hear about the "Empress Splendor" tree. I always wondered why it hasn't taken over yet the renewable wood sector, since it seems to be better and more efficient in every single way. :) Thank you for this video. There are a few materials I did not know.

Interesting take and I'm sure some folks will get value out of this. For me it doesn't have much substance, I'd like to see actual metrics or compare it to non-sustainable materials to give perspective on how much better. In any case, it's always good to share this info, hopefully people do choose to research more and understand where they are good or bad for their particular project/location.

Hi Gerald, That's an excellent point! I agree. This video is intended to provide an overview. It' is also a starting point for those who would like to dig deeper. I'm usually inclined to go more into depth. Hopefully that comes across in some of my other videos. Thank you! Katha

Can hemp be cross-laminated? I wonder if it isn't a better alternative to timber, as forests are best left intact, instead of being replaced with the tree-plantations required to create enough cross-laminated timber.

@@50by30Niagara Great question. Hemp is used for insulation, unfortunately not at scale like fiberglass. I am not aware of hemp for studs. Thank you! 🙏

Odd that you include rammed earth, but not adobe/mudbrick.

Thank you for sharing! They would fall into the same category, I would think. Thank you! 🙏
