  • This is the second test flight of my unfinished Flyboys Models Blohm & Voss BV141B. The BV141 was the only asymmetrical aircraft to reach series production (20 were made including prototypes). This is an old, long out-of-production ARF (acquired NIB), which I've totally rebuilt and revamped over the last few months, including electric conversion, rebuilding the tail surfaces, fully sheeting the wing, making the outer panels removable, and adding flaps. Following the maiden flight, I did a new lateral balance, this time using two postal scales, positioned at the juncture of the outer wing panels. I determined that my assumption that the right side was too light was incorrect -- in fact, 4.5 oz of ballast had to be removed from the right outer panel to achieve lateral balance. The model flew better, especially with the flaps down. In this short video I was checking the half and full flap elevator trim settings (it pitched down slightly which was corrected for third flight). I consider the "flight testing phase" to be completed -- next the model will be painted and fully detailed, a process which typically takes 4-6 weeks.

Well done! In the late 90's built one of these at about this size from Ziroli plans. Was squirrely on take off but flew great. Gotta be the most unusual aircraft ever.

Hi Nick, that's quite an achievement! Looking forward to see the model again when it exits the paint workshop 😀 Greetings from Belgium!

Thanks Geert -- already "back in the shop" to finish out, which will take a few weeks, even though I've been designing and 3d printing interior detail parts for weeks.
