Best movie of the year hands down, the absolute monumental scale of this is truly remarkable! The other movies that came out this year ain't even worth a single frame of G2 in terms of production, only Dune can somehow reach these heights, but even then, dune had a mediocre teenager cast!

Yikes! This was pure spectacle and adrenaline.
This was a good movie imo. The whole premise for why this movie even exist narratively wise is easy for me to get behind from a realistic angle. But overall I think Riddly’s objective was never to rival Glad 1 or have a main character who would equally rival Maximus. I think he only had 3 objectives for this film: Make it canon Maximus’s bloodline didn’t end with him. Have Lucius become (implied) emperor in the end. Make the Dream of Rome” better solidified as achieved in this movie.

As far as I remember there were no drums in ancient Rome.
@@MatteoBeltramo they were used both in ancient Greece and Rome, called "Tympanon" drums. To be honest, they were used far earlier than this.
@thunderboltproductionsshpk I beg to differ. Sorry. The tympanon of the Greeks was akin to a tambourine. The ones in the film are drums, which could be coming from the Turkish east. Please consider that I am not an expert on the matter and I read about it a long time ago.

P.S. for those whose brians melted too much - Hail is a German word with a clear historical meaning (especially in this movie as Romans are portrayed as the biggest evil from the 1st minute), so obviously it had to be Ave

This gotta be the most embarrassing comment in the history of comments 😂 p.s. I'm Italian, and yes this is how they saluted the emperor, the same salute was also given in Gladiator 1 just to let you know. Go back to sleep now.

@thunderboltproductionsshpk the two towers didn't come out 24 years later! If you're going to resurrect a story line, it needs to be fresh, not more of the same. Plus LotR is based on a novel. Not a lot of creative freedom. This one scene appears to pull MULTIPLE elements of the first.
