I sort of have a crazy story about my dad who didn't have citizenship to the United States and had to move to Canada because he was able to get residency there. My father wrote to Jimmy Carter and he wrote back... my dad was doing his post doctorate in Boston for cancer research. President Carter wrote back to my dad saying that him and his wife, Rosalynn and him go to Chinatown every weekend to enjoy a meal and that the cook there had his U.S. citizenship and that the work my father was doing / would do was important. My father received his citizenship and my brother and I are here today because of him as my dad came back and met my mom. I am forever thankful for President Carter.

I remember it vividly. The Country was going through a bad time after the Nixon resignation and subsequent Ford Presidency. Mr. Carter then came in as a non-Washington outsider. I would say he was more out place with the country. Mid 70's. The Me Generation. Selfish. Greedy. Self absorbed. Reckless. That was the 70's. Drugs. Sex. It was all excess. And in came a Sunday school teacher born again Christian from Georgia. He preached restraint. Fiscally conservative. Morally upright. He didn't fit that time period at all. When we had an energy crisis with the oil embargo and the price of oil going up because of the Iranian Revolution, he talked to the American public and told them they needed to make sacrifices to get through the difficulty. Just like in World War 2. That they should lower their thermostats and wear sweaters. Americans didn't want that message. They wanted Reagan's message. Do whatever you want. We're great. Carter average deficits were half or one third that of Reagan's. But guess what. Carter had 10.3 million in job growth. He averaged 2.6 million in job growth per year and had an average GDP of 3.25% even with a recession in 1980. To put that in perspective, the average job growth per year for all republican presidents since 1924 is .6 million. And the average GDP growth under all republican presidents since 1933 is 2.4%. Carter's GDP average was nearly the same as Reagan's and his job growth per year was .6 million more than Reagan. Carter was a conservative progressive. He was a humanitarian realist. And he produced real results in office. He may have been a micro manager but he was a damn good one at that. Compare him to Trump. Trump had 2.7 million jobs lost, .95% GDP growth and had 7.8 trillion in deficits. (7.6 trillion more than Carter in the same amount of time)

If President Carter had not withdrawn support from the Shah of Iran, the 1979 hostage crisis likely would not have occurred under the Pahlavi regime. The Carter administration's policies towards Iran, including criticism of human rights abuses and reduction of military support, contributed to the Shah's fall and the rise of an anti-American Islamic Republic. This had far-reaching negative consequences for both Iranian and American interests in the region. The Democrats seem to have learned little from these foreign policy missteps that destabilized a key U.S. ally in the Middle East.

    • @hamedparsa8880
      @hamedparsa8880 2 дня назад +2

Carter's misguided policies played a significant role in weakening the Shah of Iran and empowering radical Islamists:
      1. In 1977, Carter increased pressure on the Shah for political liberalization, leading to the release of political prisoners, including many Islamist opponents.
      2. On December 31, 1977, during a visit to Tehran, Carter called Iran an "island of stability," demonstrating his misunderstanding of the country's precarious situation.
      3. In January 1979, Carter sent General Huyser to Iran, who encouraged the military to remain neutral instead of supporting the Shah.
      4. On January 16, 1979, the Shah left Iran, while Carter refused to accept him in the United States.
      5. In Afghanistan, the Carter administration began supporting the Afghan Mujahideen against the pro-Soviet government in 1979, which later contributed to the rise of the Taliban.
      6. Operation Cyclone, initiated during Carter's tenure, led to the funding and arming of Islamist groups in Afghanistan.
These decisions not only resulted in the fall of a strategic ally in Iran but also set the stage for the growth of radical Islamism in the region, the consequences of which continue to this day.

All I remember during his presidency was very high unemployment, inflation, 17% interest rates, recession, and the near destruction of the real estate market. I do salute him for his service to this nation during WW2. I think his Habitat for humanity was a result of some kind of redemption for the damage he did to this nation concerning his attack on the real estate market. I in turn wired two homes under his program for free. He did have scruples, but he was never presidential material. He did not have a clue of what he was doing concerning the economy and our country was a weaker nation because of it. I do understand why he lost so bad to Ronald Reagan, as Jimmy was a complete incompetent.

I will always remember former President Jimmy Carter for the peace treaty that was signed by Egyptian President Onwar Sadat and Israel's Prime Minister Begen. In the late 70's; this agreement was a historical milestone in Middle Eastern relations. Also, the Iran hostage crisis and the eventual release of the hostages became a huge accomplishment at the end of his presidency. Lastly, President Carter's volunteer project "Habitat for Humanity" is an ongoing project that houses so many families by having them help build their own homes while resulting in eventual ownership of it.
What can I say. President Carter was an amazing, God filled man who cared about doing the right thing throughout his long illustrious life. after president, he lied about the honesty of the Egypt election where he was an election observer ignoring massive voter fraud. He lied to North Korea’s Kim, blaming America for its poverty.
as president, he lied about caring about America. He loved US enemies too much, the Jesus “Love your enemies” line that he sucked up like a combo of a Southern Baptist and treasonous Democrat. He let American hostages be paraded blindfolded night after night on international TV. He lied about why he reinstated selective service registration. He had no plans to draft anyone. He was trying to lead by civility instead of brutality and it's quite common for people to blame a president or leader when they must rely on advisors and limited information. The simple fact that he refused to lie is a testament to his character. That he loved and cared so deeply about humanitarian issues is a clear indicator of a noble person who seeks to improve everything in every way possible. In a world full of people who would love to see him fail. That he lost to an entertainer shows this country's priorities and willingness to blame someone for stuff he had no control over

I was a young kid when the hostage crisis hit…all I have to say about that is that it takes a certain type of man to be a successful President of the United States. Harry Truman had to do the unthinkable to prevent greater loss greater carnage. Some men are born with the ability to make those sorts of decisions as leaders and others are not. There are countries out there ran by savage leaders…vicious, evil man. When it comes to a hostage crisis or national security threat of that magnitude we must Bring the guys home don’t negotiate. President Jimmy Carter visited Three Mile Island on April 1, 1979, to reassure the publicGovernor Thornburgh, will ask you and others in this area to take appropriate action to ensure your safety. If he does, I want to urge that these instructions be carried out calmly and exactly, as they have been in the past few days.
This will not indicate that danger is high. It will indicate that a change is being made in the operation of the cooling water system to permanently correct the present state of the reactor, and it's strictly a precautionary measure.Friday also brought a new, more terrifying revelation: a hydrogen bubble had formed above the reactor core. Over the weekend, scientists from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission argued about whether the bubble might explode at any minute. Now even the journalists covering the story were on the verge of hysteria. During SundayThree years after the accident, a robotic camera was lowered into the Unit 2 core, providing the first look at what really had happened. Roger Mattson, a senior NRC engineer, describes what was revealed: "We had a meltdown at Three Mile Island. Fifty percent of the core was destroyed or molten and something on the order of twenty tons of uranium found its way to the bottom head of the pressure vessel. That's a core meltdown. No question about it."

At 100 years of age, Jimmy Carter was the oldest living president, living the longest post-presidency life-44 years.
More importantly, though, and regardless of what history will say about his time in the White House, President Carter didn't run out and begin a lucrative speaking career. (Although many recent names do come to mind that have.)
Instead, Carter went on to establish a nonprofit organization, he wrote books, he continued diplomatic activities around the world, and he even served as a university distinguished professor at Emory. Carter also became the face of Habitat for Humanity. How outstanding. Simply put, former President Jimmy Carter spent a lifetime doing good deeds; it is this that he leaves behind, a most revered legacy.

Hey fool. Compare results. Carter = 10.3 million in job growth, 3.25% GDP growth and his total deficits were 250 billion or so. Biden = 16 million in job growth, over 3% GDP growth and cut over a trillion dollars off the deficit he inherited from Trump. Trump = 2.7 million lost jobs, .95% GDP growth and his deficits were 7.8 trillion in total. Trump is ranked as the worst president in US history.

It's positive because he was a good man. It's been positive on conservative stations too. You're the one being biased for expecting negativity because he was a Democrat and you would call that "fair." It was the same when the Blessed Saint Ronald Reagan died -- the coverage was mostly on the good he did, rather than dwelling on the bad, because the coverage focuses on a person's entire legacy.

Hello, in my opinion, Carter was the most cruel president of America. He betrayed America's best friend, the Shah of Iran, and the result of that betrayal was the emergence of extremist groups in the whole world. The people of Iran also went from the best of circumstances to the worst of circumstances. Unfortunately, Carter even invited the Shah of Iran as a guest. He did not accept it in America. I hope the world will not see such people in power again. Carter's wrong decisions affected the whole world. We Iranians will never forgive him. 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂

On my book, President Carter was basically a decent good man who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw sickness and tried to cure it, saw war and tried to stop it. While other ex-Presidents pass their time playing golf, President Carter was busy building houses for the poor, championing for human rights, monitoring foreign elections under precarious circumstances, etc. It was bad luck that his presidency did not pan out the way it should have. The run-away inflation in late 70s was the consequence of the Vietnam war that he didn't start, Iran breaking bad and then taking Americans hostage was the Shah's fault, the "American Malaise" speech attributed to Carter was an invention of Ronald Reagan's Hollywood pals. Carter had never said such a thing.

Carter never had 14% unemployment. Why do you lie? He didn't create stagflation, he fought against it. He didn't create long gas lines. He didn't create 16% interest rate. He was an amazing leader. His job growth was 10.3 million in 4 years. That's 2.6 million a year. His average GDP growth was 3.25% a year. And his total deficits were around 250 billion. Compare those stats to Trump's term in office. Trump lost 2.7 million jobs, his average GDP growth was .95% and his total deficits were 7.8 trillion. (7.6 trillion more than Carter's) Both of them had a recession in their last year in office. That's your reality check bub.
