    I'm telling you, it's not just this video. For years and years I have watched Timo be not only the classiest sportsman of all the pros, but also the only player that you can literally see actually enjoys playing the game at any level. Great video!

    That's how you can really appraise the level of top players. Dan is an excellent player who will crush 99.9% of non professional players, but still can't do a thing against Timo. Amazing!

      His serves are crazy. It looks like he is just doing backspin, but than he weirdly changes his hand position and the ball has completely different spin.

    I lost to Timo 11 - 2 aswell but he used a mid size butterfly drive which he than gifted to me. Such a great sport the fella.

      @@hottopics7561 was about 15 years ago at a commercial shoot for the German Table Tennis League I happend to direct for my bigger brothers production company in munich called fields and frame which doesn't exist anymore sadly due to my brothers passing. It was just a 15 bucks paddle but still I kept it for decades till the rubbers wore off. :D

    I understand the World Ranking: Useless was done in jest but Dan...you played well ( by club standards ). I know the score card is really not inspiring but to get 2 pts and to most of the 13 points with rally shots of at least 5 or more very impressive

      If you have a sweaty hand when holding the ball before the serve, the ball may become wet, resulting in the rubber not gripping it

    Very sporting of Timo to agree to this game. Seems like a decent and down to earth guy, a great example for such a brilliant player. What's with all the table-rubbing? And why not stick to vertical throws at serve? It's not like using a backwards trajectory is going to help win any points against him...

      He swipes sweat of the hand and it's a habit of many table tennis players. Adam Bobrow made a video with Huga Calderano in which they made fun of this habit.

      I believe they're just drying their hands, a alternative would be to touch their clothes but I also believe that the fabric is not quite absorbing.

    What was Timo's first serve? was it a topspin?
    Man, those subtle touches on his 1st and 2nd serve made it difficult for Dan to read them.

      Side with a bit of topspin. You can see Timo's bat come up a bit on contact. Dan played the receive like heavy backspin.

      I would like to know too. If he is wiping the table from sweat or smth doesn't make sense on that area they almost never touch. If he does it to wipe his hand from sweat why doesn't he do it on his shorts or shirt? How do ping pong player develop this habit in the first place anyway, it kinda looks stupid.

      Because their hands are sweating. So they don't actually "touch" it, rather than slide their hand over it to get rid of the sweat
