Janet's body language is so aggressive. She holds her head as if she's looking for a fight! Yet her voice is so mellow! Jim didn't waste any time. True fletch the lech fashion! Haha!

The beginning of the golden period with the arrival of Kate and Sandy. Two of the best ever characters in the show.
They don't seem very interesting to me in this episode, but I'll carry on watching to see if they improve.

Personally my favourite episodes are with Myra as Top Dog, especially with the Woodridge men, but the Sandy, Kate Marie ones are a close second.

I know Louise Le Nay was up the duff while she was filming, so obviously she needed to take time off, but god Sandy is one person i'd have loved to have returned in the future.

Sandy looks like a cool customer who can look after herself and that trick she played upon arrival was awesome. Meg was clutching at straws to think that the V.J would regard her report and show any sympathy towards Doreen. In the first place, Doreen was a fool to escape and can have no complaints of the outcome, and secondly that Goodwin rarely acts like anything other than a swine anyway. Poor Lizzie isn't having the best time of it since being released. I hope that seemingly nice postman isn't going to become a nuisance to her.
Kate Peterson! One of my all time fave characters. I can't hear the word "cretins" without thinking of her. 😆

Doreen starts everything, I'm glad Sandy will soon put her in her place, with no Bea Smith to protect her.
Yeah; Boreen doesn't do particularly well when someone stands up to her.
Once those mishaps in Lizzie's garden and those odd phone calls start happening, you can tell that it won't be roses on the outside. Could it be that someone is after the house and will try and set Lizzie up to get it? The fact that she is still being followed day to day in the storyline tells that she won't be on the outside for long. Sometimes things just happen and bad luck prevails.

My Sandy just another favorite for me. Oh and Dr. Kate so much steamy goodness yet to come I can't hardly wait.

9:40 - Who is the snippy, new officer with all the lines? How come poor Officer Barfield never gets a line? She's been in the background for ages and there could be a riot in progress and the poor woman has to stand there like a deaf mute.
I know. You would think everyone would be happy to have the women involved in some kind of community service.
Maybe Powell is upset because even the blind people can see she's a "po-face!"

I can't understand what's bad about Bea having a worth while project. Also, a project that helps the blind. Mrs Powell isn't very likable in these episodes. Her character is all over the place

The arrival of one of my all time favorite characters Sandy Edwards. Funny behind the scenes info... Kate and Sandy were introduced to distract the audience from so many of the main cast taking time off to film other projects. The producers worried ratings would take a hit without the familiar faces but the ratings actually improved during the Sandy/Kate era. Louise Le Nay who played Sandy was offered a longer contract but discovered she was pregnant and left when her original commitment was fulfilled. Production left the door open for her to return.
Val Lehman’s ego must have taken a massive battering!! I swear she think the show is all about her!!
Well she was by far the most popular which is why ratings never recovered to what they were after she left. And she was invited back twice by producers before they finally killed off her character. I actually enjoyed the Myra Desmond era. I didn't mind Rita but I hated the final 70 episodes. If it hadn't been for Kath Maxwell (played by the phenomenal Kate Hood) I'd have stopped watching. I found myself rooting for Kath against both Rita and Lurch.
@@PaulDoe79 Kath was a great character in a mediocre era. The same with Nola, great character but some of the 1983 episodes around that time weren't good. I wish Kath had come into the show years earlier nd Nola had stayed much longer. They both deserved better material.

Nola was one of the best villains and by far the most dangerous cuz she had nothing to lose.
And I don't know if the writers/producers intended for the audience to empathize with Kath since they were having her in direct conflict with the main protagonists but I actually rooted for her against Lurch and Rita. When she finally snapped and shoved Lexie I was so happy!
Lizzie ‘this time I’m out for keep’ fast forward 2 episodes on …back in Wentworth 😂 Lizzie is a great character

In real life, Sheila wore the scarf on her head at home whenever she was housecleaning or with her three children when they were young. I like it when Lizzie wears one.

The beginning of a golden period, never bettered. It's a pity the show couldn't quite remember how it had successfully introduced new characters and moved away from the cliche core when the core cast had actually gone around the the 400's ( although I do love 400-450)...Oh, Lizzie, you are out for keeps, you poor demented thing, well I say "keeps" if staying out for keeps is staying out for a couple of hours. Good luck with that babe.
Doesn't seem very golden to me at the moment. The new characters don't seem very convincing.

Isn't it a bit daft that Powell is listed in the credits as 'Officer Powell' even though we know her name is Colleen and she's been in it for ages? whilst newcomer Conway is 'Janet Conway'.

Olivia Hammett who played Dr Kate Peterson was born in St Helens in Merseyside, uk. Does anyone from St Helen’s know the exact part of the town she came from? She must still have relatives in the area. St Helens was in Lancashire before 1974 so Olivia Hammett is a Lancastrian.

This looks like it was filmed during winter. The outside scenes Lizzie has with Meg look especially winter like and the way they are both wrapped up
It was shown in October 1981, so would have been filmed about 3 months earlier in about July which is the middle of winter in Australia.

Ah, Louise Le Nay. Hardly recognized her wit short hair. She played a shady character in the early episodes of Neighbours.
Fun random scene inconsistency sequence: At around 32:22, just prior to muster and lunch, one of the new prisoners (Peterson the doctor) was sporting a poodle 'do' with dreadful tight curls. Directly after lunch (35:53) her hair was combed out in a completely different style.

That's because in the first scene she had just come from the showers and her hair was still wet.

I thought new prisoners in for murder spent the first night in solitary?
I watched a movie last year on Turner Classic Movies, it was The Earthling; it starred Bill Holden and Rick Schroeder and was I surprised to see two familiar faces. It was filmed in Australia and Olivia Hamnett played Rick's mother with an American accent and the woman that played Lexie Patterson's mum played Bill Holden's old mate. His character was born in Australia and moved to the states as a teenager. Rick met him through a horrible tragedy and he taught the boy how to survive on his own. I used to watch the movie all the time on HBO when they showed it in the 1980s and 1990s and I never payed attention on the Australian actors until I begun watching Prisoner. I was also upset to learn Olivia died at an early age, and she could act with different accents like Gerard Maguire can.
She was also in the avengers here in the United Kingdom in the 60s

The 2 new prisoners have been inside Wentworth for 5 minutes and I already can't stand them! I suspect that Sid's son Gordon and family are messing with Lizzie and moving the flowers around and making the crank phone calls!
They're a bit annoying, I agree.
I love Lizzies old fashioned house. Very cosy. Just a shame Gordon interferes and ruins everything

There is so much constructive activity / crafts / education that could be provided for the prisoners. Now that an educated woman (doctor) is in the slammer , she could certainly be utilized teaching education and health skills.
the prison officer wit the brail machine becomes a friends of bea as someone else in future episodes. or has that already happen i forgot lol
