This series is some of the best content I've seen on RUclips. It's all because most of us want to see good quality, informative content, from a person being genuine. You can't fake that. Thanks Dave, you do great work. Keep it up!
Totally agree! I make really good dry beans from scratch. Pinto, Navy and Great Northern. But that takes hours. Sometimes it's best to open a couple of cans, drain the preservatives off, add some chicken broth, chopped ham, onion, garlic and bake some skillet cornbread. I've even put BBQ ribs meat in there. Smack good, less time. I get it.
You didn't sow your own beans and collect your own molasses!? What's with the premade chicken stock!! F@#kin' people suck, ignore them and you'll be much much better off.
I love soup beans but a couple of bay leaves will add some incredible flavor. Try it next time along with the rest of your ingredients, you won't regret it. Keep up the good work and God bless 🙏
Don't forget to pick through the dry beans and remove the junk beans and rocks and dirt clods. I've got to where I do that first thing to a new sack of beans when I buy them and I won't have to sort them when I get ready to cook any, just rinse them really good and soak. Thanks for the appetizing video
Exactly Dave. If I'm around the house and I know I'll be cooking all day I'll soak or simmer my dried beans. If I'm in a hurry, canned is just as good and more convenient but slightly more expensive. No difference to my palate.
Hey Dave, awesome video. I live about 10 minutes from the Indian Wells Valley Brewing Company. The owner used to be a teacher at the local high school and I have a few friends that work there. Pretty cool seeing how far they have spread.
Suddenly I get a vision of the campfire scene from the Blazing Saddles movie! Lol Looks like a great meal there Dave! Keep this cooking series coming Sir!!
We appreciate all you do for the community, Dave. Love these camp cooking vids! Ham and beans was a staple in our house growing up in the 60s and 70s. A divorced Mom with 12 kids always found a great and inexpensive way to keep us all fed. We actually have a "Ham and beans" week every autumn. Everyone makes a meal of H&B and cornbread, then shares their recipes and photos with one another. It's an awesome time that we all look forward to. Looking forward to more of your camp cooking vids... very awesome!
I am thoroughly enjoying your cooking series. I wish I could crawl through the screen and enjoy the food with you. I am even going back to your knot series to refresh my memory on knots. Thank you, Dave, for providing highly educational and entertaining instruction.
Thank you for all your hard work. You have given so much to the outdoors community over the years and you're still putting out great content, consistently.
Dave, I'm really enjoying your cooking series. Actually, I enjoy all your videos. Some of what you show doesn't interest me all that much but the way you present the information makes the subjects easy to understand and keeps me watching till the end. I think that is the mark of a great teacher. Even if I don't think I'll use a particular skill you are demonstrating, I'll come away with an understanding of the subject and knowledge is power!. Thanks for all the time and hard work you put into these videos.
Dave I've been keeping up with you since the very first dual surviver ,absolutely the best to learn from in my opinion. I just after years of trying got one of your knives, I spent 6 days on the Appalachian trail with it,fantastic!
If I'm at the end of a long day ill used canned to feed me and my family vs sitting hungry while dry beans soak. Thank you Dave for all you do to help educate us. Love your channel and all the information and knowledge that you provide
am liking your cooking videos. Inspired by them and the cooking part of Shawn Kelly’s videos, I set my old Coleman dual fuel (white gas) stove up on a folding workbench in the carport. That is where I am doing my summer cooking. Thanks!
From one to another, thank you sir, for your service, , I like your videos. Thank you for your troubles and for sharing. I think some people B..... Just to B...... Because they want to see something that have to be shown, especially when you have explained and talked about it.
Absolutely love these cooking videos, thank you for making them, they are giving me a lot of ideas for setting up an outdoor kitchen and making the same kind of meals!!!
Like others, I am enjoying the cooking series and the variety of options. This was a hot meal in hot weather which I’m sure was a challenge but a hearty one. The only thing that I’ve known to enhance an already good country meal has been fried potatoes and onions but I definitely would not turn down this meal either way. Thanks
Brother, first off I love these cooking videos. Second you don’t owe anyone apologies or explanations on what you’re doing. I for one just appreciate you taking the time to share them! 👍🏻 And don’t even give those keyboard warriors something to talk about! 😂
Your cat, Zane, is just like all my animals here at the ranch. May not see them all day, but start bbq'ing and they all show up. Love your video's, and all of the experience and knowledge you pass on. Thank you Dave, and bless you and yours.
Dave, the Beams with smoked ham hock and corn bread looked amazing, next time you cook beans, ham hock an corn bread try Anasazi Beans, named after the Anasazi ( Ancient Ones ) Indian Tribe, awesome beans, look like pinto beans when cooked. Take care, stay healthy and God bless you and your Family always.
All these cooking vids you’ve been doing have been really great. Awesome tips and meal ideas for camping or even in the backyard. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge 👍
From what I see, you know what you need to do. Don’t worry about the know it alls, they know nothing! Do what you do, in the time you have. What you are doing is GREAT!
Dave straight up mate don’t sweat it. You rock hard mate mad respect, I for one will always continue to watch and enjoy your videos. More power to you mate, from Downunder 🤘💯🍺❤️
I love your cooking videos, I like simple and out of the can is fine especially beans, my mom made the best baked beans in the church and her secret was canned beans and beef hot dogs
Your doing a great job with these videos I am loving them. Don’t listen to the haters. Thanks for taking the time to put out more content. 👍👍 regards from Maine ✌️
I have been using country ham for years to season my beans.the great thing about a cured ham is you don't need to keep it cold .and it's the perfect way to season a big pot of beans .when I was a kid we had beans all the time and I got to where I didn't much care for them.but now that I've got older ,it's funny but I love them now.lol
Any fool out there complaining about these simplified recipes needs to go create their own channel and show the world how it's done. Silly people. Dave is doing exactly what he should, making content to help us learn his mindset.
Dave all of your videos are absolutely outstanding as one of your fellow pathfinder instructor's corporal Kelly would say outstanding af. Always keep doing what your doing my friend. Furthermore you need to seriously consider opening up a Pathfinder bar & grill!!
Nothing better than home cooked eans! Love your set up with the oven! You can do this in a solar oven at a camp site in about 5 hours if fuel or wood is an issue. Great job Dave!
Nothing like some good old fashion beans, there's been videos that I've watched in the cooking series the food looked so good I made either that night or the next day, I loved the ultimate grilled cheese
i made small aluminum baking tins of cornbread half up the side, i dump a spoon of butter on top then the ham and beans/cheese, all in a small tin, great for camp
Yep, that's a good looking meal for sure!!! I grew up eating that very meal from as long as I can remember. Nice recipe for "Bush Pot Cornbread". I can't believe that you actually caught flack for using canned baked beans in the "Cowboy Baked Beans" recipe. I guess some folks have never cooked beans from scratch and don't realize what the actual process involves. Thanks for sharing another great recipe Dave, and for your time, efforts and commitment.
I've got the Pinto beans and rice saved up. Also have lots of stuff to make biscuits and bread for meals like this. This is just good meals when you have time to cook em and fills the belly rather easily. Good stiff Dave!
The only problem I have with your videos is I watch them late at night and they make me hungry. Keep up the great work!
This series is some of the best content I've seen on RUclips. It's all because most of us want to see good quality, informative content, from a person being genuine. You can't fake that. Thanks Dave, you do great work. Keep it up!
People need to stop complaining. Like he said he's showing you different ways of making it. Great content Dave.
