I have been dancing without any thought for some years, but just learning these steps at home for a couple of weeks and then using them out has conpletely changed and enriched my enjoyment of dancing. I'm amazed how you can use them for any style and almost any tempo somehow, and get into the groove much much better, and feel more confident. Thanks a million bud!
Thank you so much! Ever sinde i watched the moloko familiar feeling video many eye arms ago I have been fascinated of the dance moves and I have never been able to find anything about it until today. This is just the type of dance moves I want to lean. It looks so effortlessly and cool
I’ve been trying , I really have... and I got a friend to have a go too... we love the music, but never danced to it... he said, “it’s hard to follow when it’s mirrored “, and I think yep- please could you do the tutorial with your back to the camera... so when we’re facing it’s the right way round... your left is our left etc....
Love these dance steps..I keep doing the mashed potatoes, but sure I'll get there if I keep watching and practicing....FUN...watching and learning April 2020! staying in.o
Simply love your videos. I love to dance and do a lot of jive and western swing, but this Northern Soul stuff is amazing! I just simply am having a hard time smoothing it all out as I'm used to jive and structured dancing. How on Earth do you make your legs and feet look like you're dancing on a cloud? Also, I'm in pretty good shape, but this wears me out quickly. Is that normal?
+chickaboomvintage Thanks for the comment, sorry for the late reply :) Its all just practice the more you dance, the better you will get. Make sure you practice the basics over and over to different speeds of music. Carpet, pavement and rubber soled shoes will make it a lot harder. Smooth floors with leather soled shoes will make it so much easier. Oh yes you will get very tired dancing to Northern Soul lol. If you have any more questions then message me on my Facebook page as i get the message faster :) facebook.com/Northern-Soul-Young-And-Old-605924022845404/timeline/
This was called the “footsie “ back in my day. Well the drop backs and all the wonderful jumps etc. Absolutely love this style of dancing. It’s just go with the flow. Love your easy take and patience on your moves, showing us old folk how it’s done step by step. Cheers me dears 👍😁
I like your Vids mate...looks like the dogs saying to its self ( I'll go to pieces if you don't stop that shuffling noise:-)Any chance you not do a stomping one? as the only other one on here is by a nice guy called disco Joe...its a bit complex for us over 55's as he has the advantage of been a ex breaker..leave it with you matey...KOKO....
Also, I find that I have to be wearing the correct shoes for this (smooth leather bottoms) and I have to be dancing on a smooth surface. Carpet and pavement with rubber soled bottoms are nearly impossible for me to dance to Northern soul. Am I right on that or am I alone?
You are completely right! I went dancing at my local social club last night and the had polished the floor, and with smooth-bottomed shoes, I was gliding across the floor with these moves! A lady in high-heels was concerned she would end up doing the splits...
Iv loved norther soul n Motown since the age of 18 every time time I hear these songs I can’t help getting up n dancing I’m in a world of my own lol I love this music it brightens my day! Im now at the age of 55 n still loving love dancing 😁x
Thanks very much for this - a recent convert tp Norther Soul here so trying to not look too silly out on the floor. However, after cracking these basic step videos, this other video of yours still seems unassailably far away, lol. How to bridge the gap to this one? ruclips.net/video/iYy0hNWrQAI/видео.html

Your dog was certainly unamused. Keep these coming, they're very helpful!

Your videos have been most helpful. I'm a klutz on the dance floor, but this Northern Soul seems to bring out the best in me. Thanks.
