- Well well, Marillion on the telly, that hasn't happened for a good few years now!
These vids are from a late night program called Rock Steady recorded by a friend of mine in 1990. It features some tracks from their Seasons End tour recorded at the De Montfort hall in leicester.

The filmers had obviously no idea of music in general...H introduces Mark Kelly and during the whole keyboard solo they just film Steve Rothery and Pete Trewavas.
H making a very good fist of it. Not an easy song to sing, especially so soon after he joined the band. And before anyone whinges and jumps into the two camps, I think both Fish and H are brilliant front men, great lyricists and songwriters. So there.:)

Steve Hogarth is a legend and this is best version of this song that I have ever heard.

Sou fã demais da fase que o Fish ficou no Marillion, são 4 álbuns que eu não me canso de escutar, em especial o Clutching at Straws.
Nunca consegui curtir a fase do H, que é o maior período da banda, mas essa versão ficou boa até.
Lógico que o Fish cantando era mil vezes melhor, mas é o mesmo que botar o Fish pra cantar Beautiful, certeza que ficaria bom, mas bastante diferente.
Plenamente de acordo com você, amigo. Fish põe ele no bolso. É claro que Beautiful é bonita e tem que ser com ele cantando mesmo, mas sem comparação as duas fases, os hits dos anos 80 com o Fish são sensacionais, não é preciso nem conhecer muito da fase com esse "H" pra dizer isso.

On second thought... H does this song rather well. Original or not, it doesnt matter. He adds an energy that wasnt there. Enjoy it for what it is. Quite good. :)
If you're bitching that H shouldn't be singing this song, you need a reality check. This was recorded in 1990. At that point Marillion had ONE album (Season's End) recorded with H and not Fish. It would have been career suicide to go out on the road and refuse to play any of their previous work and rely on the nine songs they had from that album. The fans would've rioted.

technically a great singer, but the charachter and sound of fishs voice is quite simply miles better, imho!!

Impressive. Obviously H has some great vocal ability, but no matter how ya slice it, it just isnt as good as when the song was performed back in 1987. ;)
