- This video shows you how to connect your SSL FUSION to your UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO 8 Audio Interface... This method also works for any other Apollo Interface.
Personally, I haven't found a video that shows you how to do this so I went ahead and made one myself after hours & hours of trying to figure out how to route the new piece of outboard gear (SSL FUSION)

Thanks!!!! I just got the SSL Fusion, and I think your video is the only one on RUclips explaining this.
Nice work. Not a SSL Fusion guy but this will help me with my Portico II MBP and mastering chain
I would rather use the fusion as a mixbus compressor! Both are great!
super helpful video, thank you
I figured it out, Slick! Turns out that my Logic sees my Apollo's line outs 5-6 as 7-8. Not sure why my Logic doesn't mirror Apollo's outputs, but the I/O plugin, for me, has outputs 7-8 to Fusion (even though its actually coming out of Apollo's 5-6 lineups) and then coming back in on 5-6. Working like a beast now. Thanks for your encouragement! Keep safe!
David Marais yes you are correct. i should have mentioned that in this video. ill be uploading a new video soon! So glad you figured it out!
SLick Productionz Man, this box just makes everything “creamy” and big - it’s a beast. Thanks for all your help. Now let’s go make some music!
1-2 are used for stereo out , so everything moves up by 2 , so 5-6 appear as 7-8. Logic pro x > Mix> I/O labels , shows the assignments.
Thanks for the video. I'm working with some outboard (manley massive passive) and i think it all is basically the same but i could use more help on the bussing within apollo and my daw (cubase 11 but they're all similar)once i route all the external cords. i saw you touched on it but was hoping you might have a little more on that. either way thank you for sharing!
watch my other video on routing the ssl fusion. is pretty much the same for all outboard gear. check my channel and youll find video
bro IM stuck with 4 Mogami XLR to XLR that i bought for this purpose only. SSL fusion my my ssl interface (12+) but according to your vid its recombined to use XLR to trs right? thanks again!
I dont get it so the ssl fusion has a left and right input and left and right output so all together a total of 4 cables and your saying from the Apollo 5&6 going to the input and output? you never showed the other 2 cables? Please Specify thats where im confused.
It must come with a manual?
Thanks for the video!
I wondering about the cables. Apollo in/out are TRS and fusion got the XLR. What cable did you go with? Pondering making my own with Neutrik connectors and Sommer The Spirit XXL to save a few bucks.
Nice work!
What line level are the inputs set to? -10dbv?
Hey Man! Do you have strange noise when you switch on vintage drive?
Hello there Slick , thanks soon much for posting this Vid , great Job !! I'm so old school at 60 when it comes to hooking up equipment, so this was so helpful to me...all the best to ya ..from Canada eh ? Lol
Thank you thank you thank you
SO you connect the LINE OUT of the interface to the INPUT of the SSL , and the OUTPUT of the SSL to the INPUT of the interface .. right ?
DJ_URBAN_BG yes
@@rmoniz92 if i want to connect additional outboard gear to the chain , lets say some kind of compressor , i have to connect the OUTPUT of the FUSION to the INPUT of this compressor , and then the OUTPUT of the compressor to the INPUT of the interface .. is that right ?
DJ_URBAN_BG you either route it thru the interface or outboard gear. either way it will work.
@@rmoniz92 i am also considering to buy one , do you like it , have your mixes improved ?
DJ_URBAN_BG yes buy it its worth it
Hi...hope u r doing good....i m a music producer from India..i hv a problem with SSL FUSION....I M TRYING TO CONNECT FUSION WITH - RME- 802....CAN U PLZ HELP ME OUT
thanks for watchin! im doin ok. this video shows you how to connect the gear to your interface. you will see in back of ssl fusion there are inputs n outputs for additional outboard gear connection on right side as you connect yur interface to ssl on left side. once you have everything connected just route your ins n outs on computer n should be ready to go!
@@rmoniz92
Ok..thanks..is there any settings in RME SOFTWARE CONSOLE??
dibyajyoti bharali im not sure but google is your best friend ;)
@@rmoniz92 thanks a lot ....
What needs to be muted?
Sorry what is the exact name of those mogami cable as the camera was moved to fast? thanks
Rose Sonic Studios theyre called mogami gold. for this gear i needed 4 wires. 2 female to 1/4in & 2 male to 1/4in...2 ins 2outs for left and right channels
SLick Productionz LLC Thank you for the quick reply 🙏🏾
Can I connect the ssl fusion to my apollo twin x ?
Not sure

They lol, if your from Boston you already know about the crabs in a barrel. Never change your spots and you will always be accepted. You might not be liked, you might get stalled but you will be accepted. They is looking for the next YOU, They can't exists without YOU. That doesn't mean don't be grateful, that doesn't mean don't pay dues, but They won't respect YOU unless you show that YOU are shrewd and Formidable. Do YOU every day of YOUR LIFE! NYC
I think you can get really close in the Box. The depth height and width are what people are forgetting. Will you get rounder thicker sound it's binary vs Analog. The converters on an Analog Console and the power they can handle is part of the warmth. The inconsistencies between the channels is also a factor but UAD and Waves are getting really close. Check out Yared Nevo for his thoughts on in the box vs. Analog
That's what community is for because most folks are like can I bump it and that all they care about. We sweat the detail because we seek the most perfect depiction of our artistry allowed with the tech presently available.
Peace
Hey man. I cannot get this to work for the life of me. I have the Apollo x4, using line outs 3-4 and going back in from the apollo to the fusion using 3-4. I've done all the routing but get no signal from the Apollo when I go to ping it. Any advice?
if your on line 3-4 then on logic it will be line 5-6
@@rmoniz92 thanks for the reply bro. I got it working using line outs 1-2 (routed 3-4 in logic). It’s weird I read somewhere that if you’re tracking at a higher rate sometimes it will disable certain line outs...? Idk. That seems strange to me.
But I opened up console settings and in the IO settings it actually looked like my line outs 3-4 on the Apollo were greyed out. I might reach out to UA about it. In any case, really helpful video man. Thank you!
I have the same problem!
Can you provide any assistance on how to connect the SSL fusion to an apollo twin mk2 quad? I have this thing a while now and I have never got through with setting it up properly. I have been researching far and wide and nothing man. please help. wouldve also been cool to see you actually print something using the ssl on the video bro.
what do yu need to know ? watch this video. my apollo has more ins and outs than yur twin but thass about it. everything yu see that i did should also work on yur twin
@@rmoniz92 I know man but its not printing at all. idk if i'm doing something wrong in the console software app.
im currently mixing & mastering a new song of mine. ill make a video of it using the ssl fusion n show you how to print it. for now, check out this video. it will show you how to print audio using outboard gear.

@@rmoniz92 thanks alot man i appreciate this alot
@@rmoniz92 so after some huge trial and error i realised that my i/o plugin is not allowing the input 1-2 of my apollo back into logic pro x. I set the input to -- in i/o and pressed ping and it still went through. At this point idk what else I'm doing wrong. don
Hey brotha can the fusion hook up to an Apollo twin?
yes
@@rmoniz92 Sweet! Thanks for letting me know!
Bro getting the signal into my protools is a headache
it can be tricky but youll figure it out 👍🏽
Hey Man, just copped an SSL but having trouble with routing. I have everything set up to 5/6 but for whatever reason 5/6 are greyed out in the IO Matrix. You know how to get around that?
Ay slick is the ssl compatible with the twin? I see you used 2 ins and 2 outs and the twin only has 1in and 1out. I really want the ssl but not tryna break bread on another interface if i dont have to. Let me know whats up!
yo yo! I have a friend who uses the Twin with the SSL Fusion, & he says it works; however, when he records with mic, he needs to disconnect one of the cables to connect the mic, but other than that he says it works. your best bet is to either get an apollo 8 or another interface and link it to your twin so you can use the ssl and mic at same time without having to unplug anything. good luck! thanks for watching!
Hi, Good JOB. Please send me a copy screen or diagram for the routing SSL FUSION, APOLLO, AND LOGIC. in my email. it's possible? thks Bro
thanks for watching ! check this out for help with routing... ruclips.net/video/Icoa7WtU0fU/видео.html
Yeah but you don't have mid/ side capability because you're not using the left and right SIDE I/O?? that's a huge sell point for mastering engineers with the Fusion
