I absolutely love my low to harmonicas. I enjoy using them as an alternative to blend in with the rhythm section I enjoy droning with them , (generally on the root notes,) them as an alternative to blend in with the rhythm section.
Jonah you have been killing it with the quanity of your content!! Love it!

Just want to personally say Thank You to Jonah. Since I’ve been playing for the past 12 months, I’ve learned so much from your videos and still always learning. As a bassist and guitarist as prime instruments, I don’t know how far I’ll get with the harmonica in comparison but the fact it’s a fun instrument to play and with your guidance has helped, I think I’ll always find it fun and rewarding when I can play songs.
To me, you’re up their with the likes of Will Wilde and Steve Baker, of being a phenomenal player and teacher alike.

I find that the Rocket from low c on up is responsive enough that it's easy to play normally with quick single notes. I find this range sounds better when playing unaccompanied compared to the regular non-low harps. I enjoy noodling on them much more than my regular harps. I can see why the regular ones are generally preferred when playing with a band, but I'd highly recommend a low d rocket to anyone for playing alone.
The rockets start to have their reeds hit the cover plate at low c. So I wouldn't recommend them lower than that. The low c is really nice and responsive and just takes a bit of care on the lowest notes to avoid clipping.
I find the rocket more responsive than the crossover and definitely more so than the 1847, although both of those sound gorgeous. So if you want to play in the same styles you normally do, the rocket low is highly recommended. The other two lend themselves more to chugging and chords. Of course with enough skill anything is possible. But for the rest of us the 1847s reeds have a momentum about them that makes quick note changes difficult. The reeds take a bit of time to get vibrating. But it sure sounds amazing.

Those lower harmonicas sounded like my brain was being coated in rich dark chocolate.
Pretty cool to learn about these things.
I’m also a guitar player, but I’m just a songwriter, not a “real musician”.
Thanks, RUclips, for the one good recommendation! 😂

Am a relatively new harpist the difference in the low harp. Is they require more air. The high harps require less air. The higher the note the less air required but the more pressure. When I say pressure I don’t mean blow harder I mean make a smaller chamber in your mouth

Maybe it’s because I have an easier time reading standard music notation than tablature but what does the “>” mean?
