I keep just replaying the first part of this video... That sounds exactly how I feel right now. Sounds So damn good... That's Not to say I feel good but damn man, your playing gives me the Goosebumps.
Thanks for that Ronnie. Great comparison; told me everything I needed to know whilst deciding which harp to go for. Now I just have to make it sound that good!
Thanks for the comparison, Ronnie. I've play, and enjoy both the Rocket Low (F and D) and Thunderbird (F). Just a note, the Rocket Low has 8 reed plate screws. I've never seen this many reed plate screws before on any diatonic harp. Please keep up the great lessons!!
Wow! Those sound great! I don’t own a low harmonica but I’m really want one. Both those harps are great. First time I’ve ever heard a LL harp. Love it! You were right, now I want one! Thanks for the great videos bud. I just received my first Rocket in the key of A. Awesome instrument. And my C Special 20 just can’t be beat.
It is, but the lowest notes on the LLF below hole 4, become much more difficult to get the complete range of the available bends. Hole 1 is very tough but it is possible. I have, though it’s not usable… Maybe with more practice😅
Nice demonstration Ronnie That’s shows them off nicely I got a thunderbird Low C for my SBWII Bye by bid, which I am really struggling with, but will get there one day Cheers buddy
Great video Ronnie, I just got my rocket in Low F and it’s great. I know quite a few other people have said it, but I would love for a tutorial on the stuff at the beginning.
Pretty sure there's a third reedplate screw behind the center plastic support on the Rocket, plus another one center front. Rockets use 8 screws to hold the reed plates together; Crossovers (and so I'd assume Thunderbirds, as well) only use 7.
Hey man! Fantastic video and playing. I was wondering if on higher/mid range priced harps for new players if adjustments/warming up the instrument or reed tweeking is necessary or useful?
jackiemoon12341 good question. Tweaking rarely but you can break it in a bit by breathing easy from the diaphragm and not bending to aggressively by pulling from the lungs first. Those who breathe properly all the time have no need to break in the harp in my experience. Just continue breathing from the diaphragm.
Ronnie Shellist Thanks for the reply. I play 13 different instruments and I’d love to add Harmonica to that list so all this information really helps. Do you recommend a beginner start on a lower lever harp or if the money is available get a good one?
@@KenPOTchi1645 mid range...Hohner Special 20, Marine Band or up from there, Crossover and Marine Band Deluxe. The Special 20 is my #1 recommendation for those getting started.
Great vid...I'm lucky that on my Rocket LF, I do not have that distortion problem....LD can be a problem tho on some..Thanks for all you do/ my W. Clarke budd. LOL
No expert, but the best I've ever tried was the Yonberg Typhoon. Expensive, but very durable and play so smooth and easy. Cuts down on the frustration of fighting with lesser harps that are not so easily forthcoming with a smooth sound and play. You'll play longer and enjoy it more.
I got a Seydel Low D quite a few years back - and it turned me off to low tunings almost for good. The notes were completely different than a standard diatonic - and was terrible for blues. Just last month I got a Suzuki Promaster Low F - it's great and has the intervals I expect. Do you have experience with the Seydel low keys ? I feel now like the mispackaged some other tuning in there. I'm probably going to invest in a Thunderbird Low D to finally replace that one - since we play in A so much in our band
I have two LL Gs (one a Thunderbird the other a Lucky 13) both sound good, but both gone out on the One Blow. What bothers me I'm not a hard player. The manufactures still have some work to do to get them to work properly.
My TBird low F broke on the 9blow I got a new set of plates in the mail last week but I’m waiting to put em on until I get a blue moon brass comb maybe next month I really dig this harp a lot. That said I really dig my new rockets too and had no idea they come in low tunings thanks for the enlightening video knowing there is a comparable option for roughly half the price is encouraging
I mispoke..the bottom cover plate (NOT reedplate) is bigger at the bottom of the Thunderbird
Listening to you demo those harmonicas made me smile. 😁
reading your comment made ME smile
I love that Low Low F. Thank you again, Ronnie.

That’s a beautiful sound right there!

I’ve got the Rocket LF as part of a set of regularly tuned Rockets. Love it.
I like them both, they sound excellent in a Low F and Low Low F
agreed
You make both of them sound good!
thank you!
How very interesting, thanks very much...
You rock, Ronnie!
That low low reeeeeeally sounds cool. I think immuma have to buy one now!!!
Is that possible to bend on low low F harp?

Hello Ronnie ! Thank you so much
What do you recommend for Celtic music? i am intermediate level, Thank you ))
Nice demonstration Ronnie

yes you will. there's definitely an adjustment period to get a good feel for low tuned harmonicas. and the lower you go, the more you adjust.
Ronnie Shellist ha , you play them beautifully, will keep practicing and adjusting
@@andydunn5673 might have some tips on playing low tuned harps coming
Ronnie Shellist will keep a watch out for it
Isn't bye bye bird in low D?
Hey, can you a lesson on that first tune. It’s really nice. Great job
Agreed. I'd love to learn that with my new ticket LF coming in the mail
possibly. thanks for the suggestion.
I want to learn the part of the LLF 😅 is beautiful
, thanks for you videos
Great video ronnie
That is some awesome playing!❤️

pretty good they sound excellent

Yep, I had to buy that Low Low F...and the Low F. Yes, the LLF is pretty frick'n amazing.
I have a Rocket D and love it; gonna buy a Rocket C, next. I'll buy a Low in a ... year. Thx, Ronnie.
Big Hard Books & Classics you’ll dig them

Ronnie Shellist You are the man! Thanks for the helpful tips. Greatly appreciate it sir. I will definitely be looking into those.
This is an amazing and very clear review
Thunderbird it is for me
Following you now
I ended up getting a low E Thunderbird to play ‘Please Please Me’ like the record.

I want one soooo bad 😩

beautifuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul, wow
did you say that was a “Low Low F”? 1:27
Yes
That makes me want to play so badly.
soundin just like Sonny boy Williamson. that’s badass
2 R for $ of TB! I would by 1 C - TB and Rocket's 4 fav tunes such as Bb D G as needed affordable 🎶as practice🙉👍
Dayum! That sounds good! Can you give the tabs at the beginning?
hmm..not a bad idea
Or maybe just the song title if it was one? I'd like to play it. It's a good relaxing groove, whatever it was
Low low F it’s so ..... Wobba wobba wobba ,like the Diesel Engine of Cargo Ships 🤣👍🏻Really very cool
goot
foot stomping and beers
Rocket wins as my choice
$125 ain’t cheap😂
I would rather hear it clean instead of an effects pedal. I can’t tell if you really know how to play the harmonica.
i could have swore you said low low but anyway you are hittin that 8 draw like it ain’t shit i have Lee Oskar and it ain’t hittin like that
We'll I hate you, I just bought a rocket LF and I shouldn't have budget wise.
Simon Boudreau 😇
I’m not ready for LLF
