6:46 When you learn the context of this episode (Its called "Heart Of New York" which involves Bank Robbers faking being Mysterons all for a heist), you learn that even The Mysterons have standards.
Fun fact, the mysteron base was actually completely unoccupied. I don't remember what page it's on but I have this massive book somewhere of like pretty much everything about the show from episode summaries to behind the scenes stuff to whatever, and it's stated somewhere in the lore section that the mysterons had long since left mars by the time of the show, leaving their automated systems online in case they ever came back.
I love the fact the heroes just acted without messing about. Pulls gun on garage owner, shoots him. Blue "You knew he was a mysteron agant" Scarlet "i suspected"
No one realized just how violent Captain Scarlet was until they saw just how serious the Mysterons were about avenging the destruction of their complex!
I watched and loved this show as a small child in the mid 70s, along with countless other children. All the violence and no one noticed or cared. Those were "different times"😮
God damn this show was brutal, I'm surprised my parents let me watch this when I was a kid. I even had an action figure of the protagonist and a toy of his car.
You know it’s a good show when the title character gets killed 5 minutes into episode 1. You know that episode with the hunting lodge that needlessly goes up and down? Didn’t it establish that Mysterons can ‘only’ be killed by electricity, so technically any Mysterons that were shot or blown up weren’t dead and could still be working their original’s normal day jobs just waiting until they can cause havoc once again…
@@DiamandaHagan Technically, those killed conventionally are only of the human they've duplicated, while those killed by electrocution or anti-Mysteron guns would be double kills of the human and the Mysteron controller. I think, since Scarlet is a duplicate but can survive gunshots and explosions that would kill a normal duplicate so....did his Mysteron defect?
I thought everyone was going to come back by Magical Space Resurrection, but the body count and high number of car/plane crashes in what was supposed to be a kid's show, surprised me. Gamera wouldn't like this show, but I'm definitely going to check it out!
TREBLE CROSS: you counted the same resurrection twice, the last one is actually the same as the revival in the hospital of the human Major Gravener INFERNO: everyone was evacuated so no one killed in the avalanche
Those aren't really resurrections, but recreations. Meaning none of the Mysteron victims were ever brought back. Since at least three Mysteron agents are never killed. The Total should be 58,387.
Interesting choice, Mistress. And boy, this ain’t the Thunderbirds! A lot of death. The faces here were also sculpted better, if less mobile. I want to watch this, it looks really cool for a Marionette show.
Would you consider doing the CGI Captain Scarlet? Can't remember how many people die in it, but I was still shocked when I saw him snap someone's neck.
I'm thinking about it heh. This video grew out of me rewatching it while editing and then spending time thinking about the show because I'm developing a Headcanon Fodder idea for it.
Doesn't seem to include the other two crew members in the Martian Exploration Vehicle after the Mysteron complex was rebuilt. Must have been killed. The Mysterons had no use for them. They only wanted Captain Black to do their dirty work. Also the helicopter that was shooting at Captain Blue must have been manned beforehand when the Mysterons destroyed it & reconstructed it, leaving only the voices of those who originally operated it. Also in the the episode 'Renegade Rocket' Major Reeves was obviously Captain Brown previously. Even looked like he was using a Spectrum issued gun with the top of it coloured brown. Exactly like the one Captain Brown would have had for the colour he was given when becoming a Spectrum agent.
Mary Whitehouse must've been LIVID. Is it my imagination, or are the shots of 'foot stomping on brake pedal' actually using real person's leg(s) & foot(s)?
Very entertaining. I'm surprised that you'd heard of "Goodies and the Beanstalk". Have you watched the Power Themes 90 "Captain Scarlet" video? You should do some videos about "Joe 90" that Jerry Anderson made about a nine-year-old boy that the World Intelligence Network brainwashes to do its dirty work.

Superb killcount, although you're a bit bloodthirsty in estimating how many people were in buildings and other establishments that, logically, would have been evacuated before they were destroyed. It's been said before but I'll say it again; Anderson and co. knew how to make a damn good explosion.
The late, great Derek Meddings. Went on to even greater things, including the MiG-29s crashing into the uplink antenna in Goldeneye.

What a fabulous programme it could have easily been used for adult evening adult programme
I used to watch it when it aired at 1:00 am at the weekends,…. when I was a kid 😂

With Derek Meddings handling the special effects, it’s not surprising. This was before he did the James Bond movies.
