This song was also written in produced in like 30 minutes or less. Also great catch about it sounding like two different songs. Darroh, the singer often had multiple songs in mind when structuring songs and lyrics and would often write one song and switch to different lyrics, saving his old lyrics for another song. This band is highly underrated and not understood. Also The greatest and Nicest people in the world you will ever meet. They would remember faces and names and make you feel like one of the guys. Matt, Darroh, Brett, and Jon. We fucking love you guys and miss y'all. Wish you could come together for a reunion. Also shoutout to Logan Kennedy and Ryan Collier for filling in when the band was going in different directions.
These walls don't talk, only when somebody knocks, these walls don't stand for anyone else but themselves (one of the most beautiful lyrics every written in my opinion)
Best band ever. Hands down! Been a huge supporter of theirs since early 2000's. They put on the best show I've ever been to as well, and I've been to hundreds of concerts.
I’m so damn glad this band is getting attention outside of Dance of the Manatee and Musical Chairs. There’s so much damn good music they offer! It’s a shame they didn’t get the recognition they deserved. Also, there’s a demo track of this song with even MORE visceral screams. On RUclips playlist, it’s what I usually sub in for the album release
This has to be one of the best reactions to hearing Rikki Tikki Tavi that i have ever seen and i had to watch it a few times becaus eif that. Those facal expressions. Oh, also.... Fair to Midland is a play on the saying "fair to middling" which basically is a response to someone asking "you how are you?" Like fair weather and the not but being in Texas and all it is changed to Midland. :)
Thanks so much for giving them another listen. FTM was frickin amazing...once they got their first "album" (Carbon Copy Silver Linings) out of their syatem--it was bad--EVERYTHING they made was so good, catchy...no boring music in their catalog. Same album: Whiskey & Ritalin and then Uh-Oh. Trust me, brilliant songs on an album of brilliant songs.
@@lmaono1356 if I had listened to CCSL first I might feel the same way. It mostly has to do w/Darroh's vocals...from CCSL to inter.funda.stifle is worlds of improvement. And yes, the sound is pretty bad. Also, it's missing the catching of nearly every song they made after CCSL
If I had not been there from the start and seen all the evolution, I might have felt the same way. The CCSL cd release party was one of the best times of my life. Sooo yeah, maybe nostalgia has something to do with why I go back and jam that shit all the time. You also gotta remember that it was thier first album and had that "local band, self funded" feel to it. Name another band that just knocked it out of the part with a self release.
Darroh Sudderth was uncredible on stage. absolutely. And it is the same guy who sings the lyrics and than growls. I was on concert in Köln (2007?), where the band was a support act of Serj Tankian. and i saw him (Darroh) live. absolutely unbelievable.
If i'm not mistaken....This was sort of a joke song. The label was pressing them a bit to do what the label wanted. So out of a bit of spite and humor.... Rikki Tikki tavi was born.
Man, I have seen hundreds of reactors and you are the first person to do this amazing band! Arrows and Anchors is top tier. Try "Why I Liked the Robins" by Hum
I'm not an expert on FTM's backstory but in an interview they explained the song came about because some guy at the record company was being two faced telling them to take their time with material and the next day saying he needed a song by the end of the day. Guessing that guys name was Ricky, and im guessing that's where Rikki Tikki Tavi came from. The song really has nothing to do with the story. It's about someone being two faced, hence why it has two completely bi polar sections; also "I am not a machine so don't push me like buttons, if I build the arc will you wait for the water, and they also mention hitting the devil with a frying pan, I'm guessing Ricky was their devil at the time but that's what I gathered, and I may be right, may be wrong, who knows. But I know for a fact the song is indeed not about the child story😂
One of the best bands that have ever existed that did not catch a break and slowly broke up and lost members
Absolutely!
Correct!!!
erstwhile turned out to be an okay band though, but the lack of darroh sudderth on vocals hurt
Sulphur Springs finest

Their song names are awesome, like “tall tales taste like sour grapes”

Please do Dance of the Manatee by them. It really is a cool song and one of my all time favorites of any band.
One of my favorite bands of all time!!! The lyrics are awesome and the delivery is unforgettable!!

Great song, great band. Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes is another banger
I think the coolest part will always be that yes, there is only one vocalist, Darroh Sudderth !
Fair to Midland will ALWAYS be one of my favorite bands!!

Got to watch live at the machine shop… Yes one singer

Even Carbon Copy had some fantastic stuff on there, at least on the writing basis. The mixing and sound is what killed it

Good group of guys a couple of the guys went on to play in another band called Erstwhile.

I think you would like "the greener grass" i think it would be the most confusing song you would ever hear
He can do this live!!!!! So effing awesome!
Fun song. I like how vocal changes from soft tune to hard. That not all waht can show this band. Next will be more Fair to Midland)
Please do more from Fair to midland. This is their hardest song. I'm sure others will actually sound nice :D
As people have mentioned Darroh didn't really like this song, but it closed out many concerts because it hyped the crowd so much.

The most System of a Down song not by System of a Down.
