    Hi Sir George Nomad 👑, I just had to share with you how much you inspired me. I've know for generations about Emmett Till and the horrific tragedy that happened to him but when you picked up those Jet Magazines with those outrageous photos I about lost my mind. I called that Warehouse in S.Illinois and bought 2 of the Jet Mags. I was impressed by the fact that Jet Magazine in 1955 was willing to go against the Jim Crow AKA the KKK of the South. That's a part of history, which includes so many more atrocities that no one should ever forget this happened !!! Right on Jet Mag ! 15:56

    what a huge move George. Seattle was the first stop on my travels as a backpacker solo in my late twenties. it was a soft breakin coming from my home country of New Zealand. . I remember the Pike place Market, the spacetower and I stayed at the YMCA .
    I was unfamiliar with how to make a phone call to my home country and i could not operate the plug on my bathtub. Hilarious!

    The Ceramic Fish TV lamp that the seller attributed to Italy is from VALLAURIS, France...they are high Kitsch; and in person they are pretty appealing and fantastic! I love seeing them grouped; several in one spot all lit up. I saw them for the first time at a flea market in Paris, during my one and only (so far!) excursion to Paris, which was a just passing 25:10 through trip to Spain where my uncle lives in a former Goat shed. Paris is ALL THAT, and ceramics from VallAURIS are really wonderful in a so-tacky-it-transcends-well-don't-stop-NOW way!

    I love my Umanoff barstools. As a kid, my dad put four of them around our train table for us to each sit on one side and run one train. One day near Christmas, my baby brother tipped his backwards and hit the wall. Mom and Dad were out and we had a babysitter. He hit a panel that covered a crawlspace and was held into the wall paneling with magnets. It fell out - and Christmas came early! Mom threw that stool out because it was broken. I have the other three. Just don't sit on them in shorts!

    I love to see the spaces that you set up in the antique malls. You should use those battery clip on lights to highlight individual items within your space that you want to accentuate. I think it makes a big difference and helps the space as a whole in drawing people in for a closer look. It provides a visual “bullseye” in an environment where there’s a lot of competition for the human eye. Just a thought.

  • @charlottemccaig578
    @charlottemccaig578 Год назад +1

    You should get that paint by number piece. I think it would go for more than $65, it's so well done and really beautiful. Just find a frame at a thrift store, you may need a backer board or even fabric covered good quality foam core will work. That price is crazy cheap!. The first clock in the old building, the 1950's cool one? That would look amazing above that rounded corner kitchen cabinet in the video I watched yesterday. Can you tell I haven't stopped thinking about it? If I could mention something to all vendors.....when setting up a space please think of older shoppers. I walk with a cane and have balance issues. If there's too much on the floor or a small entrance I just walk by because I don't want to chance tripping or breaking any of the wonderful items in the booth. I'm certain I'm not the only one, there are many conditions that older folks deal with that make shopping difficult. I think your space would be fine but just something to keep in mind. You are a mindful person and you even mentioned having proper space, just keep those of us with handicaps in mind. Maybe even spread the word to other dealers. This mall is amazing, really beautiful and I can't believe the bargains!

    Beacon Hill? Interesting, I'm not familiar with that area. The closest I got was living on Capitol Hill when I was in college. Have you been to any of the Earthwise locations?
    "Americans don't like to key wind clocks" Well, I guess that explains why my British husband is willing to key wind our several manual clocks! ha ha
    You could replace your microwave plate with that 1920's purple plate! 😉
    I've never seen the old Sears building with the Starbucks logo on it before! Thanks for showing that.

      Capitol Hill and Beacon Hill are across the whole Dearborn Valley from each other, as a college student you'd have no reason to go there. I'm glad your husband will do it, I find a ticking clock rather charming! I have been to one of the Earthwise locations and need to go back. I remember how weird the Starbucks logo seemed up there to me when they first installed it, given that it had been Sears there since the 1930s and my family shopped there.

    Good evening, George! Ohhh...I hate moving! I don't even like to move furniture about in the house. That did look like a good time to get some really good deals, though. That German clock, that was key-wind, I liked. Most of the clocks we have here are either key wind or cuckoo clocks that have the chains that have to be pulled to wind them. The clocks I detest are the battery ones. Love that 1910 bust. That pond boat you have on the shelf seriously caught my attention. It looked to be a super-nice one. That cold-painted metal sculpture is phenomenal! Loved those passenger liner aeroplanes on the stands. I have a collection of the small diecast ones. The fish TV lamp...not exactly my thing 😂 From the initial sales, it looks like you will do well there! Thanks for the tour!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +2

      I liked the clocks when we got them, but a lot of people who like that era want electric. Battery clocks are not really old to me at all. The 1910 bust was pretty, and I think she sold already! My pond boat is basic but likeable, perhaps 1960s? The airplanes are another, "If I had space, I'd have kept those" from living around them so long. Thank you for joining in!

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Год назад +2

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I like the old United electric clocks, and there are a few other electric clocks I like. The battery ones...naw! It isn't surprising the 1910 bust sold. That was a beauty, for sure! Even the basic pond boats are interesting to me. I have a set of three really small ones that are super basic, and I like them a lot. My diecast aeroplanes are in a box, in a closet, but I still have them. I just can't seem to let go of them.

    My hubby and I were at the docks a few weeks ago, boarding the Norwegian Cruise Ship Encore for an Alaskan cruise.
    Our airport shuttle took us right past the Starbucks headquarters.
    We arrived the late the night before and stayed at the Marriot.
    Our ship didn't sail until 5:00 and we were tempted to go exploring some of the nearby antique stores.
    Keep in mind that if your store can somehow advertise that they are nearby, provide a shuttle service (for a fee, of course), and that they will ship the cruise passenger's purchases, I think they will draw a good amount of business.
    The Space Needle was a popular site to visit.
    I wonder if advertising there would be a good place since a lot of cruisers will be there and looking for another fun place to explore while they wait to set sail, or to keep in mind to visit when they disembark.
    I think your store will do well selling smalls to cruisers, as they don't have much room in their luggage.
    We found an antique store and Salvation army that we visited in Ketchican, Alaska and bought a few small things.
    We also found a lady in Ketchican that sold old ink bottles full of beach glass and marbles, that she collected along the beaches (and dug up from an abandoned dump as well).
    The cool thing is that she had an ultraviolet light that she used to show the uranium marbles and sea glass bits. That's the kind of local souvenirs that I love!

    Curious how they keep the homeless & the street people from wandering around, if those fluorescent are replaced with gangable LEDs, it would be significant Energy savings and cost-effective, sometimes you can buy this by the pallet at auction, most the ones I've obtained came from Harbor Freight, 4 Footers, which will fit with some modifications of a plug into a 2x4 fixture.. the Sasha Brashoff..
    Stuff used to be practically free it was so gaudy, in the Los Angeles area 25-30 years ago... it was not very desirable, especially in the West Los Angeles Santa Monica area.... of course this town most of it is not old enough people move constantly that you do not get the accumulation of really Nifty stuff most of the time like you do in the Midwest and back east..
    although real estate here has gotten exponentially more expensive you'll find Young Folks coming home and just want to trash the contents so they can sell the house... Smart Ones will put it all on the curb the others just get a dumpster... or some of the more environmentally conscious folks and there are a lot of them out here we'll just post and let people remove contents... sometimes it's strangely eclature, so nobody gets much of anything almost rationing, very odd... because of the heart cost of real estate many of the larger antique malls that used to be perhaps the Helms Bakery or the JCPenney building near LAX ended up being completely remodeled - redeveloped - so no more Booth space , unless you want to drive all the way out to Long Beach Orange County - LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES...
