Lost at Sea: The Story of The Lonergan's Final Dive

In January 1998, an American couple, Tom and Eileen Lonergan were excited to take a scuba diving expedition , before returning back to America from a 2 year peace corp assignment in the Fiji areas (Tuvalu). They had reserved the trip in pristine waters of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. They booked their trip with diving company, Outer Edge. Due to an incorrect headcount on the dive boat, this unfortunately would lead to a fatal mistake for Tom and Eileen. Being the boat left them abandoned at sea, miles from shore. Despite a number of clues that presented themselves over the next 24 hours, it would be two full days before anybody realized the couple was missing and had never been on the dive boat when it headed back to shore. What really happened to Tom and Eileen? Still today, They have never been found , and this story remains a mystery. Their story was also made into a movie (using their experience based on their story and other similar stories), called Open Water.

The weird thing is , they were alive thru the night , because they wrote in a device , that divers use , and it was asking for help the next day … but the day they “ were left behind” other boats were in that area all thru the night .. just seems like some one would have noticed them .. very scary either way .
