In this clip, Howard Hewett talked about Micky Free and Delisa Davis joining Shalamar after the original group disbanded. Following Shalamar's fifth album with the new members, Howard went solo. He detailed putting together a ridiculous deal in hopes that Elektra wouldn't sign him but much to his surprise, they agreed to all the terms of his deal.

Shalamar had the potential to be a major supergroup. I got into radio in 1982 and was able to see both the separation with Jody and was able to help promote both Dancing in the Sheets, Dead Giveaway, Over and Over and all the "post-Jeffrey/Jody Era with Micki And Delisha . Excellent!

One of the most underrated voices in black music, nobody can sing like Howard Hewitt, I have heard the baddest black Brothers in my 68 years on this planet and he is in the top 5, his only problem was material, I could have wrote songs that fit his style and trust me, he'd be right up their with Marvin, Michael, Phillip Baley, Eddie Kendrick, unfortunately for him these labels like Sony, Motown, missed it, I would have jumped on him like Electra did, they just didn't bring in writers for his style, dude should be right up their with all the guys I mentioned, and to be honest he had a more pure voice than most of them.

But, I'll never know what it feels like to have my hips, spine, knees and ankles in excruciating pain. Sheila E. confirmed it, though.

Also, he wasn't converted to the Jehovah's Witnesses (yet). So, he played many of his older tracks. But, JESUS Prince is short WITH heels. So he can't be taller than 4' 11".
