I feel like both things can be true. From a fan perspective, Cole's apology is disappointing bc you wanted to see these two legends of the game spar it out, but from a human perspective, I really respect Cole for apologizing bc he was peer pressured into doing something that didn't represent him as a person.
I'm sure he knew he would get a lot of backlash for doing this, but he did it anyway bc he'd rather be hated for who he is than loved for who he's not.

Of course as a hip hop fan we all wanna see them battle it out but the mature side of me has respect and understands why Cole feels the way he does. His legacy won't ever change. From his mixtapes, albums, and features he always gonna be known as one of the greatest to ever do it
On a real note, a majority of people know Cole and Kdot respect eachother, I think this apology was a unnecessary. No one who has a right mind think J Cole was taking credit from Kendrick. He has stated multiple times there can be more than 1 goat, there was no need to say he didn't mean it lol
