    This performance is extremely immersive, you can see that she was completely immersed in the music while playing, we who listened were also immersed along, the camera movements were also perfect, it perfectly matches the music, as well as the texture of the image and the changes in lighting, in some moments lighter and others darker, I don't know if it was intentional, however, it combined perfectly!

    I like the 'more staccato and less pedal'. It makes it sound not as "lonely" as most people would consider this piece.
    She even started smiling at 5:55 which goes to show how in-tune she is with this piece... This is definitely one of my favorite pieces and Annique's performance of this piece is one of my favorites now.

      @@Dokam-dw9dw I'd still prefer the more "standard" way to play it. The lonely sounding way. But I still think this one is unique. It's also a work in progress so I'm assuming she isn't going to stick with that style? But yes very nice playing.

    Interesting start after the first 8 measures, avoiding the pedal. I love the piece, playing it myself since over a year. There are always new insights and new aspects. My teacher sees a mountain river flowing from the source and ending in cascades. I imagine the wake up in a dark forest, as in the film Avatar, flowers sparkeling, and each episode carries the story further to the end. You play the fast passages fast ))). A convincing interpretation.

    • @kierenmalhi6958
      @kierenmalhi6958 5 месяцев назад

      I looked at the score and didn't actually realise until now, but that's how it's written. There's a tiny bit of pedal in bar 8 and then no pedal until bar 32. Which is exactly how she's played it. But I hadn't realised that until now. I have listened to many recordings but never heard it played like this. It makes it sound more heartfelt when the pedal does come back in!

  • @asterius4271
    @asterius4271 5 месяцев назад +34

    Astounding performance! So much joy and fervour. Loved the emphasis on the staccato in the Moderato starting at 0:47 which I've never really heard that in recordings that I can recall and then the use of pedal on the return of the theme at 7:35 was great. You brought out the melody so well keeping it without pedal while changing fingers on the held notes. The middle voicing in the right hand in 6:45 is so good! There's so many other really interesting artistic choices you executed so well, really a remarkable performance.

      I’ve never played a Pleyel piano, but I have had a go on a Broadwood grand. It’s true that the action is easier, simpler, and the fall of the keys is shorter. To be honest, I felt it was more difficult to play than a modern piano. It felt more like a harpsichord than a piano.
