This is how I remember growing up. This is the real side of Manila that I hold dear to my heart. Amidst the hustle and bustle, and the noisy streets, Manila will always be my home. Hats off to you for showing a different side of Manila opposed to other videos.
im a fiklipino... and im very proud of it..not because i was born in this country but i think that the Philippines is the most unique country i ever known... the rich culture, the places, the people. the Philippines is very blessed. AND PHILIPPINES IS NOT A POOR COUNTRY AS YOU KNOW IT!
Its good that an Aussie Reporter is doing a doco. I am an Aussie a loved the Philippines. I have been to other asian countries and nothing stands out to the Philippines. Beautiful country and lovely people, great food too. Its becoming a new bastion for Aussie tourist and it could soon overtake Thailand and Bali.
i just got back from manila a couple days ago, and during my time there i got to visit the intramuros. it really was beautiful. all i can say is that i'm in love with the philippines, and i can't wait to go back.
This place reminds me of Cuba, I've grown up in rich & poor neighborhoods. At the same time it all about how you carry yourself in the neighborhood. Old American saying " Don't start no shit & there won't be any " respect other people's country & their way of life. Filipino people are like family to me & I do respect them a lot good or bad.
I love the philippines. Im from minnesota and i loved it there. The people are full of heart and soul. I even stayed in what is called the slums for a bit and still the people are more trusting then back home in america in some places. I feel for these people. They work hard to get little. they are a good people we should learn from them here in the usa.
Hoy Pilipinas!! I'm from Thailand.I admire your country a lot..Because there're many wonderful places in the Philippines and Filipino people are friendly, perfect and smart in English. When I grow up or step into Asean Economic Community(2015) ....I will go to study in the Philippines..My perfect country Philippines. See you!! Salamat :D
Wonderful Country ! Greetings from India, I'll definitely consider visit Philippines for a Holiday someday in the future hopefully ! Filipinos are really great and friendly people :)
I hate when there are people come into these great RUclips videos and start being all hater and racist towards these great people. Half of you have never been there to experience this fabulous country or its culture!! But yet you come in here and talk your arrogant crap and racist comments. I'm going to be there for my fourth time with my Filipina Fiancee in which I feel honored to say I have me a fabulous girl from the Philippines. In fact I conceder the Philippines my second home. Thants how great this country is The people there have really caught my heart
***** Im sorry that you have had bad experiences or that your GF has. I making my 4th trip there soon and I am looking forward to it. I have never expereinced anything bad there but one time a cab and a buggy driver tried to scam me and my girl. My girl is very savy and didn't allow it what so ever. But since I hadn't been in a situation to where I lost anything or had to worry for my life I'm not going to stop loving the Philippines. But I do not agree with you when you say the Filipinos are all scammers and theives cause I know many that aren't. Some work hard and have pride in what they earn and still live without much. But as in the Philippines every country has its scammers theives and no do gooders. I think the crowds and how hard it is in the Philippines people will think the same fasion you do.
***** You know your GF better than I do, and if you feel that she is not a crook, then I'll just respect you on that. There is indeed large part of the Filipinos who are quite impoverished. Some Filipino families take the close-knit traits in a not-so-good context, especially those families whose members receive very low income, or none at all. It is quite sad that you fell into that kind of environment. I must admit too, my paternal side of the family are like this too, so I know how it feels and it is undeniably true. But since you love your Filipino GF, what I can only advice you is be firm with your GF of not enabling the members of her family and teach them to learn to fend for themselves. What you can do though, maybe you can help find a job for her dad and grownup siblings so that they won't have to depend on you. But if her family members are obviously lazy and irresponsible, just leave them be. If this is the way to teach them a hard lesson, then let them suffer the consequences. I hope you find happiness with your GF and I pray that God leads you both in good stead.
***** I can see that you have a kind heart and a loyal person. I must say that your fiancee is quite fortunate to have you despite her opportunistic family and not-so good past. You deserve all the respect and love in the world as well. Just remember though, should you decide to marry your present Filipina GF, that would mean marrying the whole family as well. Marrying the whole family doesn't mean supporting their whims. Marrying the whole family means loving them unconditionally, the way you loved and accepted your GF. I also know that you didn't mean to belittle us Filipinos, 'coz of the way you treated your GF despite the not-so-good encounters with a lot of the locals here. I assure you, not all Filipinos are like that. Should you plan to revisit our country with your Pinay GF, please do try to explore the rest of the places in the Philippines, so you will really know more of the authentic good side of us, our diverse culture, and our simple way of life. Take care and God bless. P.S. I apologize for the ill-treatment you've received from some of us here. Don't go to old crowded and shanty Manila. The environment there is like the Bronx in the US, were thieves, addicts, and culprits live/hide. Seek the travel advisory in the Philippines, to experience the good culture and see the nice places instead.
phillipines its a nice place to live and to make a vacation..they have more tourist spot.andvery exciting to travel..around the people her in the phil is most generous, helpful.smart, and more different kinds of peoples.
I visit the philippines often and have travelled much of the archipelago, a fascinating wonderful country full of contrast and diversity. I always found the filipinos to be generally friendly and decent regardless of status
The Beautiful Manila :) i wanna go back home .. :( i am missing manila bay .. The skyscrapers that makes me amazed everyday :( the friendly smiling people everywhere ,:(
Thank you for this video. The antique place Intramuros is just one of the many things that is fascinating about Manila. Your next stop should be the white sand beach Palawan - untouched PARADISE! There was an article about it here in the US on Wall Street Journal's WSJ Magazine.
@utubeviewer93 He is actually from New Zealand. Close though, people do usually hear similarities but being Australian it is obviously a New Zealand accent or as we call them Kiwis.

@SpanishBogatyr Hi, Im a Filipina and as a matter of fact we, Filipino's can speak Spanish too, but just a little bit. For instance, counting numbers like Uno Dos Tres and so on. The Spanish is also part of our culture too, one would be the food, like empanadas, and paella. Some of our surnames are spanish, Our culture is greatly influenced by Spaniards. :)
@thereathing100 thanks for appreciating my country. I just couldn't understand why other people keep hating my country even if they've never been there..
ima a pinoy and i miss all the foods there! im currently living in japan and after all i realize that Sushi, Sashimis and all of these japanese stuff isn't that delicious compare to lechon bagnet, kare kare, pinakbet, adobo and many moore!!
Just visited it for the first time. Went to Manila, Makati, Buracay, and countryside to the north of Manila. Lots of rich people, lots of poor people, most of them friendly and fun. Inexpensive usually, though it has its exclusive areas where you can find the 200 dollar shirts and the like. Safe usually, unless you don't take common sense precaution (like everywhere). Most criticize their government. Will go back some time. May marry a Pinoy chick.
This is old Manila, it started to be the first developed city in all of Southeast Asia... unfortunately, it has now fallen behind its neighboring cities all over Metro Manila.
Actually, Philippines is a very beautiful place with beautiful people. But just like every other countries like the US, there are parts of it that are not very attractive or charming as you expected. But with 7,107 islands and 94,852,030 people in the Philippines..you can't expect it to be the perfect place/paradise. You just have to choose the right place to stay. But trust me, Its more fun in the Philippines!

‘From Dhaka I go to Philippines
I arrive in Bangkok, I go to Manila
The love that I have for you
I can't deny it
I drool a bit
I can't help it
When SHE and ME
Were sitting together
On sand at the sea
That was a blue moon
And time to see
Clean the road of straws
Because I want to sit down
On that tree trunk that I see
A little abashed that made me
‘From Dhaka I go to Philippines
I arrive in Bangkok, I go to Manila

Every country has its own beauty and appeal. Just lik all the other countries, Phillipines has its pluses and minuses. If you have the money, definitely Philippines is great. If you are a single guy with money, Philippines is heaven. If you like to enjoy the nature and sight see, Philippines has a lot to offer. Manila makes Bangkok feel like Vienna
Thom Harrison Whats your point? Whats the connection of Bangkok and Manila? !!
The Cursed He probably meant to say, "Bangkok is dirty and polluted, but Manila is much worse."
Peppy Dizon Oh Bangkok is number 1 Prostitute country in Asia lol !!
Philippines is very rich in culture.
Most that is said here is painfully true. As long as we Filipinos continue to go to abroad to earn a living, we will never be respected & will always be look down as maids/laborers. If the govt were to stop the Filipinos from working abroad, how are they going to feed their families?: I read a lot of positive things that are happening and I hope the momentum will never stop. Let us stop bashing each other but instead do our best to lift one another. The future of our country is in our hands!
