- 18 May - Guests heard firsthand the incredible leadership story of the man behind some of Australia’s most iconic food retailers - Jack Cowin.
Cowin started his amazing journey in 1969 by borrowing $10,000 each from 30 friends to buy his first KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) franchise and then founding Hungry Jack's, the local arm of US fast food giant Burger King just two years later.
His private company, Competitive Foods Australia, which has sales of over $1.02 billion, has opened over 400 Hungry Jack's restaurants and his beef-processing and export company, Consolidated Foods, is now Australia's fourth-largest meat processor after Coles, Woolworths and McDonald's. His 26 per cent stake in Domino's Pizza Enterprises, which started out as a $400,000 half-share in Silvio's Pizza chain almost 30 years ago, is now worth over $1.2 billion.
