Exactly. You should react while the songs are HOT because then people will be searching and get them suggested. Big, classics that many people love could be worth doing as well. That doesn't mean you can only do big songs, I think. You could also do up- and-coming artists, artists you like (or hate) or that are different in some way. The people who already subscribe will watch anyways but you can get new people to watch with popular/viral videos.
I think it's not a coincidence that the biggest youtubers like PewdiePie are very consistent - uploading often. I think YT likes to recommend new videos from channels we watched recently. Country in title may help, at least the country you are reacting to. Flags in thumbnails like you already do is good. Russian...? Maybe experiment and see what works. Don't be too calculated though. People will keep watching for your personality and honest opinions in the long run. But you could be a little bit clickbaity with thumbnails and titles (without lying) to help new people discover you. Don't know about the monetization - search foe tutorials on YT!
