I have watched this video a million times now, its the best tutorial I've found on the web. I've fixed three iPods now. Guys, IF YOUR WIFI IS NOT WORKING ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST. Get back under the board and make sure your wifi antenna IS PLUGGED IN SECURELY. If you are getting connection only 1 foot away, your antenna probably became disconnected is only barely touching the connector when you put the board back down.
I love these videos :P everything you have taught me has given me enough information to work at my local computer repair shop :P I now get paid 14$ an hour to do this all day and its great :D
I followed this step by step and it works great, thanks for your detailed tutorial. It's nice to get an informative tutorial with close up and good descriptions without stupid music playing over and bits missing. Thanks again.
Thanks. I used this video to change my screen out today. When the screen turned white I thought it was done for... then reviewing the tail end I realized... 1) I had my digitizer cable bent the wrong way. apparently this will make the screen turn white when putting pressure at the top. 2) I had to reset the ipod power. After I did both of those it worked well. :)
Thankyou for this in depth video, I got mine done in about 3 hours. Thought I might have been screwed when I realized the shattered part of the digitizer was right over where the WiFi antenna was. I had to carefully remove each tiny piece of glass one at a time so as not to tear the WiFi ribbon cable. Also had a hard time getting the new screen in because of the misshapen top left edge that sustained damage from the drop but it actually turned out really well in the end! Thankyou again :)
This is the second time I have use this video to help me replace an iPod screen. Thank you for making such a comprehensive video. Both times Successful.
Great video. This was the first time I have done something like this to an iPod and I can say that this video guided me through it perfectly. Good luck! and be careful.
Great tutorial! Thanks. I did it, it took me two hours and a half, and main problem for me was at the end of the process to adjust the screen and the ipod. The screen flushed on the top (the screen bus was bent the wrong way), and the adhesive was not strong enough. I had to reopen the day after, put the bus well bent, and use the Super Glue gel. It works now well.
Thank you. Just replaced my screen. Only problem was a white screen. Referred to another video that stated to hold the volume & home button at the same time. That worked for me.
Couldnt get the IPOD screen to come on, checked again the logic board connection. LOOSE! Wrapped again with copper tape and made sure the logic board was connected IT WAS! Finally! Nothing happened! Tried the reset trick at the end of the video. NOTHING! Connected the IPOD to my AC home charging unit and the IPOD came on! Amazing! thanks GadgetMenders!
duuude am soooo thanksfulll, your freaking awesome i was able to fix it. it means alot to me, i coulda bought another one buh my gf gave it to me on our anniversary so it has sentimental value to it thanks so much am a big follower now
Well took my brother and i 3 hours to do this lol. But then guess what! The ipod wouldn't power on. We found an explanation to rectify that though. (ground the battery terminal). The ipod works great now, no more flickering screen.
Holy crap... my power cable became unplugged as I closed it up. I was lucky i was able to shove a plastic tool in between screen edge and bezel and tear it open other wise i would have been SOL. Thanks for the video. Mine was a success.
This is likely the power/volume cable. This will need to be replaced. It can be tricky and does require soldering but it's very doable. You can also consult with a local repairman if you don't feel comfortable attempting on your own.
Reset by holding the power button and home button simultaneously for 7-10 seconds. Small amounts of super glue gel on top of the adhesive make for a stronger hold.
@GadgetMenders Hey there, I followed your tutorial thank you for the instructions! One question though; I forgot to place the metal cover for the rear camera back, is this bad? Should I take off the screen again and put it on again? What's the actual use for the bracket anyway? Thanks a lot!
do you need the lcd screen if the previous one has no damage? is it possible to just replace the glass only with out the lcd screen? Thanks your video is great!
You can re-install just make sure the two pieces of copper tape are touching. It's not actually 100% necessary to re-install the tape, just recommended.
Mandy, where did you buy the replacement parts from? You have to beware of cheap replacement parts as this can be a trap. when you hold the power button and home button, do you continue to hold it until it restarts? If not then give that a try, but from what you are saying, it sounds as though the digitiser maybe faulty or you may have kinked a connector ribbon when reinstalling. Let me know how you go
Great video! I replaced my whole screen and was doing the test before I put everything together, but the top half isn't touch sensitive, only the bottom half is working, what could be the problem?
This will need to be replaced. It can be tricky and does require soldering but it's very doable. You can also consult with a local repairman if you don't feel comfortable attempting on your own. You can connect the device to your computer to retrieve the pictures and videos.
thanks so much. I was able to fix my sisters ipod doing this. apple was no help. when i called them, first they tried to charge me $20 just for calling them and then they said the cost for them to replace the screen would be the same price as a new ipod, which they recommended that i just buy a new one
Great video. I'm looking to do this repair for a friend, but I'm seeing model A1357 on the back of a white model. Since I don't own one of these, I checked and that model number seems to be associated with the charger, not the device which everyone lists as A1367. Can I assume I'm looking at an iPod Touch 4?
Go into settings, general and software update. If there is an update available it'll be listed. If it isn't, and it says, "Your iPod is up to date" then your ipod cannot be updated to that iOS. iPod Touch 4 can be upgraded to iOS6 but many features will not work. iPod 3 can only go up to iOS 5. iPod 2 can only go to the last version of iOS4 (4.2?)
How much would a service like this cost? For a 4th generation it ouch that has a shattered glass corner. All features still work, but the cracks are many with a small hole in the corner. There is no dent, though? Please and thank you!!
The only thing you need to make sure you do with your replacement is to use extreme caution and to use packaging tape on the cracked screen (I'd use the strongest tape you have or super glue works as well, just make sure none of it gets on the housing). After that you can go about replacing your screen like normal.
If you get a whit screen hold down both the home and the power button down for 10 seconds or a little longer than u should get the apple sign. This will be a really long boot btw and if you have a jailbreak it won't remove it
Hi, I followed all the steps, and my ipod turns on fine and looks great, but the bottom half of the screen is unresponsive (the 'slide to unlock button') while the top half works great (the 'volume adjustmen't, after you double click the home button) do you know where I went wrong? Any feedback is appreciated :)
after waiting this 19:33 long video I understand that it's not possible for me to replace the screen at home. is this possible to send you ipod and you will resent after fixing it
Hi, It did end up turning on and the screen works expect for a small portion of the screen( where the 7/8/9 numbers are on the lock screen) any suggestions? also I've tried the digitizer about twice
I just completed the new screen / LCD digitizer installation and everything is working fine. The screen is not completely flush on the left side because I damaged the bezel at a spot about 3/4 of the way down on the left. It is almost all the way down but not quite. I do not want to try & force it flush because when i had this problem with my 2nd GEN it cracked when i tried to do that. I am happy the way it is, should i just put it in a fairly strong case to protect it. Will a small amount of Super Glue gel along that left edge help?
heyy I did everything correctly, got the ipod to boot up, connects to wifi, and the I can control the volume up and down, home button works, but the touch screen is not responsive. I was very careful. I have not fully restored the ipod yet, but i have tried holding the home button and lock button down multiple times. Do I need to get a new digitizer again or is something maybe not plugged in correctly?
Great video! loved how easy you made it for followers.. I also have a repair guide on this same issue, but have found a new way to do this! should check it out.

Thank you. Just used this video to guide me through replacing the screen on my son's iPod.
This is the best repair video i have seen so far. Very informative and the video quality and directory is great. You can really see what's going on.
This is the most detailed screen repair video I've seen so far. Thumbs up for showing potential pitfalls! Why would people "Dislike" this? Thanks.

Thanks man really helped. U have the most best instructions for this replacement on RUclips. Keep up the good work
This should be the standard for all video tutorials. Excellent!
You are the man/woman!!! Best instructional video as I replaced my screen without a problem. Thanks G-Menders
This is one of the most informative and well done videos on You Tube! Well done!
Thanks for the video. It allowed me to get the job done! For me, the hardest part was plugging in the lcd on the front, not the digitizer on the back.
Great video. This was the first time I have done something like this to an iPod and I can say that this video guided me through it perfectly. Good luck! and be careful.
Great guide, very detailed and nothing left out.
Great tutorial! Thanks. I did it, it took me two hours and a half, and main problem for me was at the end of the process to adjust the screen and the ipod. Your the best, the rest set thing worked, your way better then those crappy phone doctors, thanks man.
Couldnt get the IPOD screen to come on, checked again the logic board connection. LOOSE! Wrapped again with copper tape and made sure the logic board was connected IT WAS! Finally! Nothing happened! THANK YOU worked great saved me $80 at times it was difficult but eventually I figured it out thanks for the help.
duuude am soooo thanksfulll, your freaking awesome
i was able to fix it. it means alot to me, i coulda bought another one buh my gf gave it to me on our anniversary so it has sentimental value to it thanks so much am a big follower now
Thanks for this tutorial followed it and have saved myself a few pounds.... great.
Thanks! I was having trouble sleeping. But this video really helped with that!
Thee best instructional video for ipod touch 4th gen!
Great tutorial!! I successfully change my iPod screen! Amazing job guys!
Thank you guys so much for this, i would have broken it if not for you guys!
i am 14 and did this successfully
Thanks for the detail that other videos have left out!
Stripped screws are tricky to deal with. If you push down hard while twisting it can work. Otherwise, you're left to drill out the stripped screw.
Yes, we also have a variety of other colors available. The parts are the same just different colors.
Thanks, I've fixed my brother's ipod thanks to you! (:
thanks man it works perfect only complaint is the adhesive that i got off ebay it wsnt precut except around the edges
We recommend applying super glue gel on top of the adhesive to make for a stronger bond. The clamps allow the adhesive to set well.
Check the digitizer cable and be sure it's securely snapped in place. This is the cable that plugs in under the board and is tricky to plug in.
Thanks for this video I found it very clear and precise and I fixed my ipod thanks again!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for the solution to the whit and black screen it worked! :)
Thank you, very helpful tutorial!!
Replacing the screen is the best option. I cannot guarantee that replacing the screen will correct the issue.
Check the screen cables. Also, reset by holding the power button and home button simultaneously for 7-10 seconds.
omg thanks this video help me allot i change my own scream soo happy i finally got a new scream and i did not have to pay no one to fix it
This is likely the power/volume cable. This will need to be replaced. It can be tricky and does require soldering but it's very doable. You can also consult with a local repairman if you don't feel comfortable attempting on your own.

I'm 14 and I did this successfully I'm so happyyyy
Check the digitizer cable and ensure it is securely snapped into place. This is the cable that plugs in under the board.
Thanks a million for this. You're a life saver
The wires are soldered under the board, however, you have access to the solder points above the board and that's all you need to do.
do you need the lcd screen if the previous one has no damage? is it possible to just replace the glass only with out the lcd screen? Thanks your video is great!
You can re-install just make sure the two pieces of copper tape are touching. It's not actually 100% necessary to re-install the tape, just recommended.
You will need to verify that the digitizer cable is snapped in securely. This is the screen cable that plugs in underneath the logic board.

Great video! I replaced my whole screen and was doing the test before I put everything together, but the top half isn't touch sensitive, only the bottom half is working, what could be the problem?
Woot success! Thanks for the knowledge!
Yes, our parts are OEM quality. You will not notice any difference in touchscreen sensitivity, LCD resolution, material strength or fit.
The home button flex cable is adhered to the front and backside of the metal insert. You can find this part on our website.
What about the little copper tape where the digitizer attaches at 11:40? The screen replacement on yours doesn't have one, and mine doesn't either.
thxs it saved us $160
thank you very much :D just fixed my broken screen and its workin
Reset by holding the power button and home button simultaneously for 7-10 seconds. And of course make sure it has a charge.
This will need to be replaced. It can be tricky and does require soldering but it's very doable. You can also consult with a local repairman if you don't feel comfortable attempting on your own. You can connect the device to your computer to retrieve the pictures and videos.

Make sure the digitizer cable is snapped in securely.
cool you fix your ipod i never had a broken ipod
Good for you.
lucky
Be sure it's charged. Check if it connects to iTunes. Try resetting by holding the power button and home button simultaneously for 7-10 seconds.
Great video. I'm looking to do this repair for a friend, but I'm seeing model A1357 on the back of a white model. Christopher Boose I would assume that its a 4th gen. If you could find out when they bought it you could compare it to the 4th gens release date.
Is adding the superglue gel to the adhesive required? Or is it optional?
Go into settings, general and software update. If there is an update available it'll be listed. If it isn't, and it says, "Your iPod is up to date" then your ipod cannot be updated to that iOS.
iPod Touch 4 can be upgraded to iOS6 but many features will not work. iPod 3 can only go up to iOS 5. iPod 2 can only go to the last version of iOS4 (4.2?)
Thank you so much for this video i did it and it works completely
How much would a service like this cost? For a 4th generation it ouch that has a shattered glass corner. All features still work, but the cracks are many with a small hole in the corner. There is no dent, though? Please and thank you!!
Hi there, so is better to buy the whole thing? I actually got only the digitizer, is that not a good idea to replace only the digitizer?
Thanks for the upload!
do you have to put the golden copper tape back on the lcd screen ?
Hi is it possible to skip lots of steps and just take the screen out take of adhesive and put the screen back in? Will it still work?
Can you put in the new screen without the top metal bracket from the old Ipod? Apparently when my Ipod fell I lost this piece.
Try resetting by holding the power button and home button simultaneously for 7-10 seconds.
Is the metal bracket that goes up by the digitizer cable necessary? Mine is missing. Please reply
The only thing you need to make sure you do with your replacement is to use extreme caution and to use packaging tape on the cracked screen (I'd use the strongest tape you have or super glue works as well, just make sure none of it gets on the housing). Thanks So Much This Helps So So Much
Thank You :)
which way are you twisting the screws because the last one next to the rear camera won't come out
One question do we have to put super glue gel or only if you want to please respond
whatdoes the golden part of the middle silver plate do mine got into two piece i hope its not needed if yess is it replaceable plz let me know
Hi, I followed all the steps, and my ipod turns on fine and looks great, but the bottom half of the screen is unresponsive (the 'slide to unlock button') while the top half works great (the 'volume adjustmen't, after you double click the home button) do you know where I went wrong?
Any feedback is appreciated :)
You may need to replace the home button cable.
Yes, but it will be easier to pry it up from underneath all at once.
after waiting this 19:33 long video I understand that it's not possible for me to replace the screen at home.
is this possible to send you ipod and you will resent after fixing it
does the digitizer cable snap in or does it just sit?
Appreciate the feedback buddy!
would it still work if i was not able to recover the metal piece from the top on the old one?
We aren't currently offering repair services, just DIY. Thanks for your interest.
Worked:) thank you:)

too good my man!
You can, but make sure you use the fast drying kind (almost everyone is fast drying, just make sure) and make sure NONE of it gets on the housing.
There is pressure on the backside of the LCD.
heyy I did everything correctly, got the ipod to boot up, connects to wifi, and the I can control the volume up and down, home button works, but the touch screen is not responsive. I was very careful.
