Oh man, I used to live in Oceanside. Moved in 1991. Great to see the old town again. Thank you for bring me back to my old stomping ground again. Love it. Stay safe and happy travels.
We live in oceanside , that's or exact route we took yesterday to picnic in that parking lot where you parked. There is a picnic table there with a view.
"Finally! Coolness, no desert, no cactus, water, salty air and water, I'm in!" I'm with you! It's sensory overload after a long winter! Enjoy your walk back! Beautiful! Thanks Russ! 😀
Great Video! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I logged many a mile on that beach and pier when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for 6 years in the late 80s early 90s.
Go there every year, stay at Oceanside RV park. They do a farmers market and evening arts crafts and food thing every Thursday. They been pulling sand from the harbour for a few years now. Was north of the pier last time we were out. I hear they used to truck sand in from Imperial county, but the tree huggers put a stop to it, so the beaches have been dissappearing for years. Best place to eat in O'side is Johnnys, just across the tracks from the pier. And you have to get breakfast at the Beach Break Cafe at least once.
YAY!! your right in my old stomping grounds growing up! Long before they rebuilt the pier with Ruby's at the end! That beach and marinia...along with Carlsbad.. swami's...my mom was one of the directors for Encinitas chamber....LOVE LOVE southern Cal! Enjoy and be well. Try Tamarck ❤️ if you haven't☺️✌️ We used to jump off the end of Oceanside pier...lolol...you had to time tides and there was one spot 😂 crazy when your young
Good to hear. One of my best friends grew up in the Encinitas area. I met him in Idaho of which I am a native, go figure. He and his wife taught me how to surf.
@Blake Q ...your so right....when my mom was in the chamber they fought like crazy to keep buildings along the historic hwy and anything beach side only to two stories at the most...required zoning....to keep developers from taking over and buying out residences. They also tried to look out for families that HAD been in California for generations and not be run over by others "buying in" ...military families were one thing...but others would come in and promptly try to change the face of a town and push out locals. Most would change the politics to the FAR left as well...sadly...the homeless grew...but more than half did not originate in California...most area's now are have been trying to price out an "element" but the backlash is...the locals can't afford for themselves hardly anymore. I can remember how much camping WAS allowed...even beach side....with the influx of transplants and not respecting the the privilege...it's pretty much gone 😑 those are some of my fondest memories....and the community of it
Oh my goodness Russ, I absolutely love that video at the very end when the tide was coming in and splashing on all of the rocks, oh how soothing and relaxing, I could literally spend all of the daylight hours just sitting there right where you were!!! Oh thank you my friend for bringing me to the beach, oh, you just don't know how much I needed that, it's exactly just what I needed!!! Oh oooo, how nice!!!
I really enjoyed going to this video and walking out on the pier with a seagull, pelican, pigeon, & thought that was funny to see the bird jump out of the sink. I wasn't expecting that. Thank you!
hi russ strange that you went to oceanside .my son lives in moreno vally and he took me to oceanside for 2 days he has a timeshare right at the entrance to the pier and we went out to the end to rubys and got some lce cream.i loved the pier
"WAY TO COOL" Bringing back memories, Russ. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton (1969), we would hire a taxi and go into Oceanside. We spent time there on the beach, washed our clothes, took in a "flick" and ate at the different eateries. It was some good times spent there, just getting off the base. Thanks 4 showing! Cajun:-)))
Awesome! I grew up a little north of Oceanside ... Huntington Beach. ...surfed a little south of there in Lucadia ... the locals call it Beacon's. Lawd, I miss the ocean! Thanks for the virtual visit, Bruh! ✌️
Don't miss Jalama Beach Campground on your way north. A real Jewel and a not well known place to beach camp on the Cal coast. Just south of Vandenburg Base and slightly north of Point Conception. You take a little 2 lane road off of 101 through ranch land. Go about 14 miles and the road dead ends at the 100 site campground. Best burger you'll ever have at the little restaurant. Totally isolated campground with nothing but cattle grazing land around it for miles, but it got all the amenities. You'll find pictures on the internet. Check it out!
Mornin' Russ, how ya doin' today? We got to the ocean, yeehah! Some of the little cottages look really homely. Nice place to watch the sun going down. At 10:20 i couldn't make out the 'spewing' (shoulda taken the drone over it), so what was it and what was it doin'? Are they moving the sand to cover the pipeline? And i liked the friendly wildlife, they were looking for a meal i reckon. I was wondering if you had a sticker on the van saying you didn't store video/camera gear on board? I was sure you'd go for a paddle in the surf, socks off roll up the shorts and away you go. Thanks Russ. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
My dream is to see the P Ocean!!! Hope I make it there by October this year!!! Still planning on it!! Can't wait!!! So excited! Thanks for taking us along!!
Welcome back to San Diego County, Russ. I hope you will visit Imperial Beach, south of there. Hit any 'bertos taco shop, Lolitas, or even Tacos El Gordo.
Russ, when you’re up near LAX - stop by Jim Clutter park (Google it). It overlooks the south runways at the airport...cool place to take a break and have lunch.
Welcome to the West Coast. Should have made a left and come down San Diego way. Interesting things to see and do in Pacific Beach. You should be seeing the beaches of Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan and El Porto before you get to the Dockweiler Beach RV camping. There are some pretty wide beaches with some cool places to visit and eat along the way. Used to call that area home. We're planning a PCH trip from our home in San Diego. A lot of it is beautiful and a photographer's dream. Safe travels.
I didn’t know you were an Elk. I’ve been a member for many years. Went through the chairs and was ER twice. About half of the 2600 + lodges have some type of RV hook ups. Many for zero cost or just a donation.
Wow you made it to the Coast Awesome! I was going to say be careful where you park but it sounds like the Elks got you taken care of! the Lodge in Redondo Beach I don't know if it's still there was my favorite West coast Lodge!
Lived in Lk. Elsinore back in the late 70’s. Bet I wouldn’t recognize it today! We had a bad flood, road to Temucula closed for a while, so had to come back to &&$@&/; freezing North East.😤 I despise the cold!
What a beautiful spot to see the ocean. I’m loving this trip Russ. How are you sleeping in the van? Man I love the sound of the ocean. I could listen to that all day, really calms me down. Cheers!!!
Thanks a million, I know where I am heading next time i get down in that neck of the woods! I haven't seen the ocean since I got home from Vietnam, and my good wife of 50 years has never seen it, well she did see Puget Sound but that's not the real ocean now is it? Close but no banana!
How do you not have a million subs?!🎉
Oh man, I used to live in Oceanside. Moved in 1991. Great to see the old town again. Thank you for bring me back to my old stomping ground again. Love it. Stay safe and happy travels.

Like old ocean towns, so much character. Sitting by the ocean, with it's sights and sounds never gets old. Very nice pier. Thanks. 😊👍
We had a boat at the Oside Harbor for ten years! Love it!
Stationed at CAMPEN for 12 years. This one really brings back some memories!

Beautiful work Russ. Love the ocean.
When I grew up in Southern California I use to go deep sea fishing right out Oceanside.
Love Oceanside! Best metal detecting days ever at the harbor.
Love your videos and I love your voice its very pleasant to listen to.
Oh yes, I agree with you Kim, Russ has an outstanding voice for videos!!!!
Absolutely.
I just wish that he would answer some questions that I have asked him in the past!
I was born in Oceanside but moved at 5. It was nice seeing my roots.
I haven't been there since 1966 when I was in the Marines. Brings back good memories. Thanks Russ.

Great Video! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I logged many a mile on that beach and pier when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for 6 years in the late 80s early 90s.
Hi Russ. Glad you liked our beach and pier. Lots of history around there. Enjoy your trip to DP. Hope the van is handling well. Safe travels ...
Got to love how the birds want their 2 minutes of stardom o. RVerTV. Interesting how they work to recover the lost beach. Thanks for the tour!

Watching this video makes me want to jump into my car and head for the ocean!🌊
After all that dry air, a guy needs some moisture. The ocean sure is fun to look at. Happy trails.

Typical 'May Gray' in San Diego county. It becomes sunny about the middle of July. June is 'June Gloom'.

I live in Fallbrook, 15 min from O side. Thanks for videos.

Have you ever gone to South Padre Island in Texas extra hot extra humid extra terriffic fishing
Hey Russ, take a video of the beach cottage used in the movie Top Gun before you head up to Dana Point. It's in Oceanside.
Thanks a million, I know where I am heading next time i get down in that neck of the woods! I haven't seen the ocean since I got home from Vietnam, and my good wife of 50 years has never seen it, well she did see Puget Sound but that's not the real ocean now is it? Close but no banana!

Man, you're just flying on, like a man with a destination. What happened to the So Cal sunshine?
Tom 48 The clouds of political corruption are blocking them out today as you can see!
Free parking is 720 bucks a month! That's California coast free.
