Stubborn? Yes. My late and beloved lhasa apso, Dingo, used to flat out refuse to move if he got tired during walks. Not even far, yet he would throw himself to the ground and refuse to keep walking. I used to have to carry him the rest of the way, as he laid limp in my arms. I miss him so much. He was so loyal and always waited for me to get home from school, only to give me (somehow in his own way) hugs. I really loved him.
My beloved Lhasa Apso passed away on Good Friday 2022 at 15 years young. The best breed in my opinion, laid back but feisty as well as independent. My biggest regret is being at work when he passed away alone (my cat was there though) so that brings some type of comfort.
I have a Lhasa and 2 pit bulls and she runs the house she literally bullies them and steals there food she's the alpha even though she's the size of there poops.
My Lhasa, Chewie, had the same disc rupture in her back when she was 2. They were able to fuse it together surgically and we had to help her walk with a sling for a few weeks until she could use her back legs on her own. She's 13 now and while she doesn't jump up on the furniture anymore (she has steps!!), she has no problems running and walking and prancing around. I don't think her legs came back 100% but it's never stopped her from doing anything she wants to do. A very loyal and loving breed.
I I know he led a very happy, comfortable life. He was fine until April of this year. That's when his health issues came to light. From there, he was on meds and a special diet. But went into an emergency state and passed the following morning. I was there with him. He is at peace. But it's so hard... after being together for so long. I never knew I'd have to one day see him leave me. But, thank you so much.
"They like to deal with his general family, they don't like outsiders" That explains why my Lhasa Apso "Oreo" who angry barks and growls at people who come close to my house.
ITS SO TRUE! I have a Lhasa Apso Maltese mix. He’s more Lhasa more than anything and hates everyone except my bf and I. He’s absolutely stubborn and only listens to me
Our Lhasa apso is good with my wife and I but anyone else gets mugged seriously everyone He is a really good companion for us but have to be careful when we have guests
My in-laws had us take over in taking care of their Llasa Apso when they relocated, which was fine until she bit our neighbor’s ankle. Thankfully she wasn’t the suing type, but my mother-in-law took the dog back to avoid further trouble. I can definitely vouch for the stranger issue with the breed. I still play with her when we visit my in-laws. Just am weary of the breed as we search animal shelters for something suitable for our household.
i have this problem, i had no idea until i got one from the shelter and she bit numerous people literally the day i got her she started guarding me! theyre great dogs though just not for everybody
Stubborn? Umm yeah that’s putting it mildly. I have 10 month old half Lhasa and half poodle. He’s so dang stubborn and smart! He is always picking fights with our 4 year old chorkie as the lhasapoo is not letting anyone tell him what to do. He even ate the couch a few days ago- very destructive chewer.
i have a lhasa poo too but mine is not destructive at all it might be a puppy thing? if you train your lhasa poo it should stop soon mine literally refuses to chew anything( she barely chews toys unless they squeak) but be careful training him and try to get it to stop because lhasa apsos are biters and if they get used to chewing and biting on things they may do it to people too!
Nicolee he’s friendly and has gone through professional training and he has grown out of much of his chewing and fighting. We haven’t had a dog fight in months. He has let up on chewing- though he did chew a button off my new duvet 2 weeks ago. He goes to doggy daycare 1-2x a week so he’s well socialized. He isn’t quite 2 years old yet so I’m hoping he keeps growing out of the chewing.
Laura Walker I would work on training him/her immediately but otherwise I wouldn’t worry! Mine has chilled out a lot as he’s grown and he’s an awesome dog! He has my heart ❤️

My lhasa apso does the same. Sometimes she turns back and walks me back to the house
Wow my lhasa is named the same. But he's the opposite. He never got tired of walks and would be extra stubborn if we move in the direction of home

Alicia McClendon Condolence, I know how that feels. He/she was a very lucky dog imagine 17 years

Coping with a loss of a dog is not a very easy road, but he's not in pain anymore.
tracy allen I know. Thank you.
You're welcome.

I had a lasso apso/yorkie mix. She lived 16 years. She was amazing.
16 years and you still don't know how to spell their name?
Our Maxwell is 7 and the alpha dog? Oh yes. This pooch backs down from no dog. Just a great dog. Love the Lhasa.
no kidding, my brother’s german shepherd does not like my lhasa apso
Our Lhasa is the neighborhood mascot. Tough little pooch.
I had a dog named scamper. He was this breed but he passed away from old age in 2018. I miss him so much
I miss my Freddie. R.I.P.
Lhasa Apso’s are the best breed. Not your typical Lhasa, my Josie doesn’t bark which makes her perfect!
i hv one & i just love her 2 bits...shes so faithful & lovable
I used to have a Lhasa Apso that thought she was a cat.
Oh my god my lhasa thinks he's a cat!
mine also acts like a cat

These comments are making me worry. I pick mine up when he turns 8 weeks Aug 1st.

I didn't mark this an upper or down because although I love and have a lobster this one just ended too soon it cut off So That's my comment
Nice pups
yeah i thought at first they were shih tzu
They developed the Shih Tzu from the Lhasa . Crossed with a Chinese breed . The Lhasa breed is much older
