Up until filming began, the plan was for Endor to be a Wookiee-inhabited planet. Instead of seeing an army of teddy bears destroy the Empire's elite troops, we would have been treated to seeing several hundred very angry walking carpets ripping Stormtroopers' arms off. Thanks, Lucas.
