Man with this show and better Call Saul, it's been an engaging few months for TV.

A little nod to the Minnesota niceness is that officer Lopez waits for Gloria outside. Maybe just to say good bye. But then Gloria instructs her to go to Emmit and inform him about his brother's death to get a reaction. If she doesn't wait this can't happen.
On the other hand it could be that she doesn't respond to the authority of two stupid chiefs even though it could cost her her job just to be loyal to Gloria.
Either way it's such a respectful thing to do and shows that they're in it together regardless of any obstacles.
    I really loved that scene-

You could say that seeing wrench again was, inevitable.

Emmit fucking up when he talked to Winnie was hilarious.
Btw it might be hard to tell, but if you look at what happened during the crash, Mr. Wench is still in his seat. You can clearly see part of his brown coat behind Nikki since she's likely sitting on him, blocking our view of him.

Earlier in your summaries you were looking for a tie in to the original Fargo. Back in the original movie the chief's side kick was following up on "a report". He stopped by a guy who was chopping ice from his driveway, remember him? He bar tended at some country bar and some stranger came in saying "Hey, I'm going nuts up there at the lake." Sort of indicating the guy was looking for a prositiute. The conversation went on for awhile.....This is the same actor who played the part of the service station cashier that apparently called in that his telephone book was vandalized by a stranger. He was explaining this to Gloria when she stopped by to investigate and discovered that the stranger pulled the Stussey page out of the book. Priceless character actor.

I love Varga at the beginning envying the family life he'll never have.

Hope Varga didn't find a mug during his examination of the gifts.
Also thought Nicky was done for when we saw Wrench, but then thought he might well be her saviour when the bus crash started..

Nikki is gonna survive at least until the last episode. If you look at the recaps for the future episodes, they still mention her doing something

First of all: I spilled my tea over the first joke. Dude, Varga and mugs ... I didn't see that one coming. Knocked me off my seat
Secondly: Remember Nikki is the cat and the cat survives and is even essential to the end plot. Also cats always land on their feet.
      Ps
I love that tiny little detail of her coat during this whole season. It's so sway and even looks kind of like a fur.

But did Emmit really murder Ray? Seemed like a complete accident - and he even warned him not to take the shard of glass out.

Gloria's boss is very much like the policeman we saw at the start of this season in East Berlin who mistaken the guy he was questioning for Yuri Gurka who presumed the guy was just telling him a tall tale.

Btw that's a very famous German actor. I live in Germany and have seen a lot of this guy only in class roles. Usually they cast a guy that sorta speaks German having had like two German lessons because they figure nobody will understand anyway. I always cringe in those kind of scenes. But I was thoroughly impressed by the opening scene of this season.

Yuri & Donny was just like Malvo & Colin Hanks in S1

LATER: No no no. I had it all wrong. Season 1 took place in 2006 and while Mr. Numbers was killed, Malvo gives Mr. Wrench the keys to his restraints to reward him for coming close to killing him - sort of professional respect. Somehow I had it in my head that the timeline was S2 - S1 - S3 but it's S2 - S3- S1.
(original wrong comment:) Well, Mr. Wrench can't die because season 1 still hasn't happened, right? It's like Mike and Gus and everybody in Better Call Saul - the ultimate plot armor because the future chapters have already been published.

      Season 1 was 2006
      Season 3 is 2010
You were right the first time, Wrench could be already dead for all we know

Ha - I was wrong both times in different ways - I'm dumber than a male Minnesota cop - but anyway, so last week's episode is the leading edge, right? Everything else we've seen in the 3 seasons has already happened so as of this moment, Mr. Wrench lives - well, unless that bus killed him but that would be ... well, I wouldn't put anything past them at this point but I think he's got to be Chekhov's Wrench - showing him, especially with the "shocking reveal" music, hopefully he survived the crash and will have something more to do - I love that guy. I guess we could check imdb and see if he has more episodes total than Mr. Numbers to deduce if he'll be in the rest of S3.

I'm thinking that Varga has been running a long con with Emmit. Its possible that in the last episode where his proposition to expand Stussy Lots is actually a scam to bleed Emmit dry. Sy did point out how much of a huge risk it was and how it has potential to bankrupt their company. Maybe Varga works for some shady finance syndicate(s) who gave Emmit the million dollar loan who's plan all along is to raid his company like Gordon Gekko. To me this would make sense if you think back to the prophetic threats both Ray and Emmit made towards one other with one already coming true. Emmit will end up poor and making soup out of his socks while Ray did bleed out on the floor (which will no doubt be mopped up) once Emmit was "done with him".
