i got out of there 43 years ago- trading it for life in southern california. i'm retired in a little san diego county town, growing tangerines and cannabis- have no desire to go back to a.o. beach is 45 minutes downhill- mountains (and winter snow) are 30 minutes uphill. it's almost as if interstate 8 was built just for us (and 'zoners).

Wonderful video! I grew up in the Falls and still visit often. I think Cuyahoga Falls could be a good tourist draw. Hiking, kayaking, you name it.

just not tennis- they ripped out all the tennis courts because one family was complaining about the noise and swearing.

@@tommurphy4307 Bummer! But kinda funny about the swearing. They better not go to Hawaii then. I grew up in the Falls, but lived in Hawaii 40 years. Every other word is the F word there! Well, local to local that is.

before kayaking became really popular, we used to go down thru the gorge in inflatable solo rafts. we put in at the old concrete slab right at the whirlpools just downstream of the dam and pulled out at the old hydro powerhouse (which was still there, looking beautiful) and then we used the big black pipe (which was also still there) to portage back to the dam and do it again and again. the higher the river water- the more fun we had. its unfortunate ohio edison didn't have someone to keep an eye on the powerhouse and pipe cuz it would have made a fantastic tourist attraction. they demolished the powerhouse in '72 after it had been ransacked and vandalized for years since it was decommissioned in 1959. back then it was private property and there was zero security- the metropolitan parks had no waterway cops working there and thats why we got away with it. cheers.

@@tommurphy4307. The house that I grew up in, 500 Stow, across from CFHS is still there. Even the same color, green. Lots of great memories. Is the Falls Theatre still there? I worked at the theatre for about a year and a half. Had a blast.. Great memories then and when it turned into CINERAMA:)
