In the video I watched, she seemed to have more of an accent and kinda stuttered, even though I know she's a native English speaker. Still this was cool, and the part about her son.
Her JP vs. English straight up sounds like two separate people. Granted I don't understand the Japanese, but I can sense the very mature outlook in her english answers.
She's said in the past that she feels more formal when speaking English. I always sensed more of her personality came out when speaking Japanese as well.

For someone who has actually taken Japanese classes, I believe why you guys think her english sounds dull is because Japanese is a very expressive language, while English really isn't. SN: Utada-San sounds like a native New Yorker when she speaks English and I'm here for it!
