I don't dislike my current job as a corporate but can't say I love it or care very much for it, it pays my bills, and if I were to pursue my dream job... I really don't know what I would like to be doing (realistically, because ofc I'd like to male a living by traveling in luxurious places, but who doesn't want that😂)

I found the "only 10% of people work their dream job" fact quite comforting.
Throughout my life as I got old and grew as a person I wanted to be many different things. When I was a kid I wanted to be an F1 driver, then towards the end of school I decided I wanted to be an engineer in an F1 team and I went to uni to study mechanical engineering. I never really had good grades in school but I somehow got an unconditional offer at one of my choices of uni and I got into their mech eng course with a foundation year. I passed the foundation year, but I only got into a semester of the full course before I started falling further and further behind, before eventually dropping out after not doing the exams at the end of the semester or attending a single lecture after.
During my foundation year, however, I had to commute across London into uni 3 times a week for classes so I found myself on trains very often, and as a train nerd I enjoyed this very much, more than uni. There came a point where I realised I actually like trains much more than I do F1 and I'd much rather be driving one than being some engineer in a sport I'm not that into anymore.
When I stopped going to classes I was unemployed for the rest of the academic year from January until October, until I got a job in a supermarket that October.
That job, which I'm currently still in, along with other problems in my life, led me to being so miserable that I drank quite a lot, and the only time I was sober was during a shift. I even hospitalised myself at one point after injuring myself quite badly and they had me stay the night.
During the couple of months after, I hadn't touched alcohol. However, in that October, I saw the train operator that I used to take to uni which I really wanted to drive for were hiring trainee drivers. I applied and they accepted my application. They then had me do some online assessments which I passed, and it was the only time in my life I really put effort into preparing for a test. I was waiting for an invite to a stage called 'Driver Assessments', which is basically a whole day of assessments before an interview at the end. After my online assessment, there were several MONTHS of silence. In January, I broke my humerus (between my elbow and my shoulder) and the DAY AFTER that happened was when they FINALLY sent me an invite to the Driver Assessments that I had waited so long for. Obviously, I couldn't go and I only regained adequate motion in my arm 2 months into healing, and by that time my one shot was long gone.
**TLDR:** What I'm trying to get at with all of this is that maybe I am not supposed to do what I want to do in life, as life has failed me at every turn. Maybe I'm supposed to spend the rest of my working life working as a cashier at a supermarket and be stuck at home with my mother.

I gave up my dream job because I was savagely attacked and .. well.... and, oddly enough, it happened 38 years ago tonight, as in, right this minute.
I ran away. I literally ran away from finishing school, dealing with the attack, and pursuing what would've no doubt been a fantastic, happy, financially-rewarding life.
Yep.. now I am a bus driver living in a crappy city that I despise in a crappy small apartment. I miss that young 21-year-old woman I was, and sometimes wish I could go back in time and face everything, and keep going down that path to a happy life.
But things were different back then. That was then, and this is now, and I guess this is my lot in life, and I just have to keep on keepin' on, right?

I wanna be a programmer right now but I used to want to be a youtuber but it’s way to late to try something like that for the amount of effort I’d have to put in just for a small chance at success

I wanted to be a journalist, or just a writer. Took a long time, but this Gen x woman finally snagged a job as a social influencer/blogger. I wrote for pay for seven years and it was glorious. Go for it, people!

As a milennial, im realizing my "dream job" isn't going to provide financial security. Theres a lot of times where opportunity may not come since it requires bouncing from contract to contract so while I love the idea of what it could be, the reality, for me is that its a great side job but i need to find something else. And im not sure what that is. Traveling all the time is too hard on my body. Maybe when I have health insurance and can comfortably live I can reconsider traveling for work all the time but right now I just need consistent hours that allow me to live comfortably.
My dream job as a kid was to be a bagel maker. If i could find somewhere that paid me a living wage for that, I'd still choose it and be happy.

Wow, this is extremely accurate. I'm gen z, and my dream job was to become a mechanic. During my apprenticeship I realized that I didn't want to become a mechanic. Now I'm studying graphic design and I hope to be able to study and teach history in the future.

Dream job was to be a musician. Dream job is still to be a musician, albeit a slightly different type perhaps. Not sure if it's financially viable though. Born in 2004, just finished secondary school (6th form), not sure what I'm actually going to pursue.

Was lawyer and author, then teacher and is now a counselor/psychologist (still want to also be an author and teacher)
Lawyer dropped because although I love the technical side of it, loop holes etc. Going to law school, working such long hours, the expense of law school, little time to have for my family, the hours to time you have to out in grunt work at the beginning made it so it was not going to be a good fit for me.
