    18 YEARS! You ain 't seen no snow. And, no. it was NOT a "rare" event in years past! Yes, it has become rare-er, but its NOT unusual. Just a few examples: March, 1960. Every Wednesday (3 of them at least) it snowed at least 10 inches--AND stayed for the next one. It also froze so that we "skated" on it rather than break thru. By the end of March that year, we had around 30-ish inches (I measured 33" with a yardstick) on the ground, and frozen solid, My Dad burned out the clutch in his car and had to change out a clutch. We went to school to almost July to make up the days.
    There have been many snows of a foot or more in the Charlotte area. February, 1969. Got around 18". My car was buried; took me 3 1/2 hours to dig it out. Another was in January, 1988. I wished that day I had NOT gone to work, but it caught me in Charlotte. Snowed around 20-ish inches and took me 3 hours to drive home to Gastonia it was so bad. Temperature that day? At one point, it was +9; thats 9 above zero. March, 1993. Started out as rain on Saturday AM. I was at the Merchandise Mart. Was told it was snowin' like a sum****! I thought they were joking. Went and looked out and..,.YIKES! What the heck am *I* doing over HERE? I lit out for Gastonia. That was 10-12 inches of snow.
    I've seen it below zero and saw the South Fork river frozen solid (1962). Yes, we are luckily on the edge of the truly cold, snowy WX, but tho it hasn't snowed that much in the last 10 years, this is NOT the tropics, either. You are very young, and the span of events seem long to you. To those of us who have been on earth "awhile" ;), we have seen many snowstorms--AND ice storms. Those are nothing to laugh about (like the one in 2001 that took out power for 4 days. Actually you are lucky NOT to have had to endure -*-many-*- severe snowstorms. But stick around! I got a feeling and this 'pain' in my side........................................:)+-

    So it snows more in Raleigh/Durham than in Charlotte. We had many snow storms and many inches of snow in the Raleigh/Durham area than in Charlotte.

    • @QEAdventures
      @QEAdventures  7 лет назад

      Not very often. The winter is very short so usually once a year.

      It snows 2-3 times a winter, sometimes more. The person who made this video is incorrect.
