Thanks Susan for those very nice words. I will do my best to create decent videos but as you can probably guess I am not a ' witterer ' who can talk for ages about nothing!! Ed.
Thanks Ed for the repot video...I've got to decide soon what to do with my newly purchased Phrag longifoliums...whether to combine them as one plant or keep separate and also how to repot so you answered some questions for me. I have never used Orchiata and of course i don't use RO but i use distilled water (so far) hehe..But i am considering getting a small thing of orchiata just for the Phrags since yours are so big and healthy..That Grande looks well beyond bloom sized. Happy growing Ed
Cheers Terry. Longifoliums are far too tall growing for my liking so I couldn't help you on this one. If you're getting some Orchiata get the 9mm-14mm size. The grande hasn't bloomed yet but it seems most of my plants get rather large before they like to bloom -- I wish I knew why!!! Have a good day. Ed.
Hi Sherry.. As I always say " if you worry you die and if you don't worry you still die so what's the point of worrying?" So have a really good day and enjoy yourself. Thanks for watching. Ed
Hi Ed, always happy to see you have uploaded another video. like you commented, your phrag was quite dry, although the Orchiata bark still showed signs of moisture. How long before you water this particular phrag again? Thanks again!
Good afternoon Margaret. All my Phrags get watered at least 3 times per week ---------and maybe a little more if we get some warm weather!!! Keep your Phrags wet and not damp. Ed.
Hi Benjamin and thanks for watching. After every repot, no matter what species, I always water because I never soak the compost overnight and I water first with calcium nitrate at a rate of 180ppm and again the day afterwards with plain RO water. I will then topdress the substrate with a tsp of fish/ blood and bone and that is the only feed phrags will get for a further 6 months ---- with the occasional calcium nitrate every 2 months. Hope the above helps in some way and thank you for your question. Ed
You should never get worried about repotting especially Phragmipediums. As long as you keep them wet they will grow in any sort of compost --- \I've grown them in nothing but pebbles! Thanks for watching. Ed,
Hi Vince. I just put your name on search on youtube and it came up Vic Ransome from Redcar the worlds best pigeon fancier ---------------I thought it looks very much like the Vince I know!!!!!! Forgot to say that I only feed calcium nitrate once per month. Take care, Ed.
Thanks for this. My only Phrag is a Grande!
And I hope you will get years of pleasure from your Grande William.
Ed.
Great video. You are just a jewel. I enjoy your videos. You remind me of my Dad, whom I lost 3 years ago. Keep up the great work.

I also like using calcium nitrate. It seems to make my orchids stronger and healthier looking.
Good evening Debra. Yes the calcium nitrate is the best form of calcium you can supply to your plants it helps them to uptake more nutrients.
Ed
nice root system on That! I have mine in a saucer so its always in some water.
Thanks for looking David. I don't like my plants standing in water but if it's working for you then don't change things.

+Eds Orchids , My question is do you feed your phragmipediums straight away or some time after repotting? when? :)

Thanks Ed :)
Nice job, Ed! your previous media didn't look too bad at all, how old was the media?
It was a couple of years old and needed replacement to give the plants a boost.
Ed.
Once I add the Phragmipedium I want...I am less worried about the repot 😉

Ed,
Hi Ed
Got the calcium nitrate. what your dosage tbs per gallon and how often?
Hi Vince. Just use your tds meter and use it at around 250ppm. By the way --- are you a pigeon fancier?????
Ed.
I used to be had then for years wrapped up in 2002. Used to write articles for the racing pigeon magazine. Why do you ask?
