    we are a rough town. And it's true that when we've played Southampton, we've had more arrests! but we have got plenty of amazing parts like the dockyard, seafront, gunwharf or something then the history of Portsmouth is fantastic! we have also played a massive part in British history overall.

    I was born in Pompey and grew up in W'ville until I was 12, moved to beautiful Devon. I have respect for my home town but if I came back would live in Southsea as nice there, good music venues and I like the seafront. All UK towns have rough areas. Respect to Pompey and my family and friends that live there.

    the easy explanation to this is portsmouth was territorial was violent not so much now and obviously not Afghanistan but one thing I will say is all the old rooted pompey families know eachother and look after eachother

    I remember Alan Knights testimonial in 1994. Pompey vs Saints, Saints won 5 1. Hundreds of idiots invaded the pitch trying to attack the Saints fans, at a testimonial for a Pompey legend. The saddest thing was is as it was a testimonial the cost of Policing came out of the money raised for Alan Knight. I remember Alan begging the fans to get off the pitch as it was costing him thousands. Sadly since then Alan Knight has gone bankrupt and had a pretty tough life. Their stupidity cost him so much.

      Alan Knight Is not bankrupt, he still works for the club.

    • @davedavids57
      @davedavids57 5 лет назад

      @@TheBucklandBull He was declared bankrupt in 2011. He suffered for years with financial problems leading to a terrible mental and family breakdown in 2011 leading to bankruptcy (if you want to read about it, it was covered by the Portsmouth News January 2011, just google it - the article Knight I am on the Mend Jan 19th for example). Happily since then he has been able to get on more a level keel. As you said Pompey gave him a job in 2013 and he has been there ever since. He still doesn't have much money but he seems happier :)

      He was an Alcoholic, but Alan has loads of Money, I work with Alan for Pompey history society he’s club ambassador, and he owns 2 terrace properties. One In Pompey and one in Crawley.
      Alan has plenty of Cash, he use to have a drink Problem but he’s a teetotaller now,
      And he’s a better goalkeeper than any keeper you’ve ever had, Peter Shilton and Tim flowers Couldn’t Lace Alan’s Boots,
      Alan played 801 Games for Pompey, he’s a legend.
      We’ve had 2 Great Loyal Keepers In Alan Knight and David James, Far Better Keepers Than Shilton and flowers.

    • @davedavids57
      @davedavids57 5 лет назад

      @@TheBucklandBull Glad to here he is doing well now. But he did go bankrupt that's a fact. I have met him a few times (he even gatecrashed my 10th Birthday party at Pirate Petes) - random true story there. As you know him you can ask Alan if he was better than Peter Shilton. Given Shilton was England's first choice goal keeper for twenty years winning 125 caps. He holds the all time world record for the number of games played in competitve football 1,390. He won the First Division, European Cup twice and PFA player of the year, he also jointly holds the record for the number of clean sheets at world cups (10). France football (the people who give out the Ballon d'Or even named him the 10th greatest goal keeper of all time. Alan Knight was a great servant to Pompey but really better than Shilton??

    • @davedavids57
      @davedavids57 5 лет назад

      @@TheBucklandBull I would also recommend you listen to Alan Knight's podcast on the football autobiography show in October 2017. It's 10:53 where he starts to talk about how much learned from Peter Shilton who he says was the best goal keeper ever. Enjoy!!!

    House of Burberry “ turned up to an incident at the common ? That incident happened in 1984 at Southampton Common where Pompey got run and “The House of Burberry “ weren’t even born 😂😂, let’s not mention The Joiners , Poznan , Covent Garden , Lords for Hampshire Cricket finals , Pompey turning up at The Wagon getting run back to the station in the 80s ,

    Case in point. The Birmingham firefighter a few years back who was convicted of football hooliganism. A respectable job one day - a yob the next. Or this Augusts riots- there was a teacher, a hairdressor, a lifeguard and a would-be Olympian among those arrested.
    Employment status is irrelevant to character. Those who look down on the unemployed should experience it before mouthing off their ignorant comments.

    hahahahaha. What a load of bollocks. I think its hilarious the way he keeps mentioning the 657 crew and the 'new' crew. Thats not a fuckin crew, they dont exist anymore, just a load of kids tryin to be macho now but theres never any proper troublre now. And id like to know what his sources are because thats not the worst riot at a prtem game (the police dont class the night part as the game). That was man u & leeds goin back to the early 90's.

    this is the type of thing that is a sad reflection of a very small minority of our great city and our great country. Have you noticed how badly educated these people appear to be? It is a real shame that these people cannot go and visit 3rd world countries where respect, hard work and passion about football go hand in hand. Go and visit real areas of poverty such as India, Africa, Thailand, the Philippines, North Korea. None of these countries have a welfare state. Work or go hungry!!

    It's funny how the Skates hate us because we apparently crossed the picket lines during their strike - although there is no record of this strike ever happening. but when southampton socks went on strike over the cross-channel ferries, they broke the picket line and took the business away from us. we dont go on about it though. HYPOCRITES.
