Agreed it is better than the Germans but your forgetting one thing that those brands are cult brands these idiots want them no matter what they do to try to show off to peaple who dont know
If I could have this or the GV80 with the BMW B57 diesel now that would be perfection. Fast and frugal. Imo these engines just don't match the quality of the car itself...
I owned several Mercedes vehicles for 16 years from 2008 to 2024. Nowadays there is a significant lack of quality, design aesthetic, and luxury in Mercedes vehicles. I can’t stand how they redesigned the interior of the GLC 300. It looks cheap and disjointed. The large iPad-like screen, plastic fake metal door handles, glossy piano black trim, pinstripe trim, and more are all eyesores. So disappointing. The dealership experience has been awful too, especially the service department. (Naples FL, Bonita Springs FL, and especially Bloomfield Hills MI.) I recently sold my 2019 Mercedes GLC 300 and purchased a 2025 Genesis GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige. My GV70 is so much more luxurious and high quality than any Mercedes I’ve ever owned, and it has a superbly quiet interior. I’ve never driven a Mercedes anywhere near as quiet as my GV70. Mercedes has A LOT of catching up to do.
"Feels up to that BMW Audi standard"... lol what? This what those brands SHOULD be giving people. Genesis is blowing the Germans away with quality of interior especially in this segment. They've gone all in on cheaping out.
I’m in southwest Florida USA. They’re building 2 dedicated Genesis dealerships near me right now. One in Naples and one in Fort Myers. The one in Naples will be the largest Genesis dealership in the world. Both dealerships will be completed next year.
Thank you for the review, the V6 G70 Genesis looks impressive. We are looking to replace an ageing second car and something a little upmarket, we won’t go back to a Merc, perhaps another BMW or maybe a Genesis. However, another car at home with the same intrusive bing/bong systems is cause to think again. Hopefully this is not permeating through all cars. You can see the Hyundai influence with some of the dashboard buttons. We have a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Highlander and it seems like the Genesis has also inherited the same “bing/bong” systems that drive you crazy. We have a ”preflight” routine, this is required every time the engine is started. It requires opening Settings on the display, selecting Vehicle, then selecting Speed Alerts - confirming Off, then going to a separate section in the Settings and turning off Lane Keep Assist. With a bike rack on the towbar it is a MUST to turn-off two rear alert systems; otherwise the car cannot be reversed 1mm as it thinks the rack is a pedestrian. As a guide to the level of alerts you may encounter, a 120km round trip from an eastern Melbourne suburb to Pearcedale on the Mornington Peninsula, which includes a small amount of small suburban roads, local arterial highway and major toll/highway sees around 60/70 bings and bongs if nothing is switched off but cruise control is used. Each change in speed zone is “bing”, approaching a fixed speed camera is bing at 1km, another “bing” at 300m, then having passed the speed camera there is another “bing”. Go over the speed limit by 1km/h and “bing”. Get near a white lane marker, left side or right side and “bing” Driving through a school zone on any day or at any time is a “bing” for the speed zone change and another “bing” if you are over 40km/h, then another “bing” once the school zone is cleared because the speed zone changes. This is despite most cases where the 40km/h being applicable only on actual school days and at certain times in the morning and afternoon. This aspect of the car is very frustrating, aside from this the Palisade is a joy to drive. It would be good, if through the “star button” you could program the features and alarms the owner wants to switch off, this way there is only one button to push each time. Hyundai Tech Support was approached regarding this. We were advised this functionality is not possible and they were not aware of other driver concerns regarding the alerts.
I don’t like the big screen at all. The previous instrument layout looked far better to my eyes. The rest of the interior looks great although, if you live in Australia, the stainless steel will not be a great choice when the sun hits it … a problem I had with the polished aluminium in my Jaguar XF and to a lesser extent my BMW 3-series. The fuel economy is quite poor compared with the Germans. Depreciation will be dreadful, unfortunately.
I’m in America. The European and South Korean 2025 GV70 will be America’s 2026 GV70. I intentionally jumped on buying a 2025 GV70 because I dislike the changes that are coming for the interior in 2026. The dash and center console are ruined. The interior is no longer beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The 27” screen is obnoxious and overbearing. The air vents are no longer artfully blended in and seamlessly hidden within the trim. The dash and console don’t have a harmonious flow anymore and looks disjointed and cluttered. The leather covered center console has been replaced with chunky cheap looking aluminum trim. The interior looks terrible now. What a shame.
Got the EV version a year ago, really happy with it, curious to see the refreshed version but won't sway me to upgrade: I prefer the previous setup with a 3D instruments binnacle and separate screen for infotainment (If you add both screens together it comes to about the same size as the new version anyways), and I don't know what they've done to the lane assist because mine doesn't beep all the time (Actually it never does, it just gently tugs at the wheel)...! 🤷 Change for the sake of it is not always an improvement.
Its easily the most off putting part on the GV. I couldn't live with it at all. Apart I think it looks stupid it also looks cheap. And it is a cheap way out on vehicles but really on an expensive vehicle like this. That goes for any vehicle cheap or otherwise. They could at least put a couple of nice shaped pods in front of the driver and have a LCD screen showing mock gauges like they do sometimes. The plank of plastic must reflect badly. And the trouble and expense should the panel fail. It won't be available in eight to ten years.
@jhndijkman Agreed, it's a lazy solution and looks cheap, spoiling an otherwise nice interior. Some car makers have screens mounted in traditional looking dashboards and they are much better looking.
Not so not picky really. After all its a pricey vehicle and deserves a better dash than that. I could not face looking every time I got into the drivers seat. I couldn't deal with it even in the very cheapest of cars.
I agree I ordered the US 2025 that has the 3D dash with the pop up screen off to the right. I don’t like the look of the giant screen instead of a dash. It’s a personal choice and I made mine.
People who like the look of stainless steel in the centre console probably don't understand that the reality of the steel causing blinding reflections from the sun. Once you experience that, you'll be wishing the centre console was made of a matt open pore wood instead.

@kaizeniii no. We always get the same version Korea releases the same year. The gv80 face-lift is a prime example. We got the same 2025 gv80 as they did. But for some odd reason didn't get the same gv70
27” screen is coming to America on the 2026 model year. Which is why I jumped on buying a 2025 model year back in September. The changes they made to the interior are awful, especially the 27” screen.
BUY one over the Germans? Probably, I expect this will have better long term reliability, albeit not Lexus or Acura level. LEASE one over the Germans? Probably not, but I'd definitely be cross-shopping to decide.
You don’t know how the phone sanitiser works? Don’t mention it then. Bit lazy for the reviewer to bring something up and say “I don’t know how that works”… Sorry being very picky but lift your game

This Is Better Than any similar car from the germans in my opinion

Hondas with different badges. Honestly even Honda shits on these luxury companies
You’re one hundred percent correct. 💯
Honda ? Its nkt a honda@Dalekenya7100
I have a 2025 AWD with the 3.5 and love it.
Can't wait to pick up mine in 2 weeks
Waiting for these ones to depreciate so that i can buy after 3 years 😂
Thanks, Zak. Excellent review of a fantastic car
The dealer experience is a non-starter for me until there’s a dedicated Genesis dealer near me.

What part of Australia are you living in? They have dealerships everywhere these days
If this had a "Euro" badge people would be going gaga.

Nice review Zak. Az you mentioned fuel economy is not great. Also wished it was more affordable
These are a good value alternative to the Porsche Macan. Another great review.
You're kidding,??? Reliability is not great and the service is horrible especially due to backlog of parts.
The screen is on an angle?

Really not a fan of the trend to stick flat upright screens in front of the driver and call that a dashboard 👎

Beautiful design and very well equipped. What's not to like?
Not only audi bmw and Mercedes I would buy this over porsche, jaguars and Range Rovers if I had money of course
these aren’t US prices
I dislike the stainless steel in the centre, too industrial look
So you prefer the piano blacks?

Where’s the standard? Few people will be buying the sport version
If this goes up to $100k i think its better to have a GV80 coupe for its 400hp engine.
GV80 coupe doesn't have a 400hp engine in Australia it's the same 3.5tt only for Australia

Was looking at Lexus NX full specs or GV70 full specs. Leaning towards Genesis. Lexus just shares the same platform with Toyota.
For some odd reason, America didn't get the 27 inches. We got the same layout as previous models
the face lifted version is coming sometime next year, the one we already have is the 25

The only good Genesis was the G70 wagon
Yes it is the best yet there is no need for a ten plus minute video explaining this

You can customize all of your let downs.
Really good. Really. 😂
A great luxury SUV that's not an EV! Quite and plush. I'm not a fan of the paint work.
Nobody is buying hyunday 😮
Hmm miami full of g70/80 and gv 70
