When I drove a 2CV back in the day, I used to wave at fellow 2CV drivers and there was always an enthusiastic response between owners. It became a little odd when I continued to wave at 2CV drivers when I was driving a completely different car….
Oh well, it had to happen I suppose but to take on some of these routes with an Ami is brave!! It's good to see how well it does, especially when all the EV naysayers complain about vehicles with ranges of 150 - 200 miles, it just shows what can be done with a 50 mile range and some ingenuity. I'm waiting for the Fiat version next year and hope to have as much fun 🙂
Indeed... The 50mile range light EV like the AMi obviously make much more sense as affordable transport with minimal emissions and environmental impact than the battleship EV that is being touted the survivors of the planet. I used to have a company that built electric Aircraft Tugs and decades ago we considered some designs for something very much like the AMI, and we figured that one of the big benefits of a light EV was the lower KWh requirements equals faster charging, And as LifePo4 (Lithium Iron) batteries can be charged 3 times faster than a comparable Lithium Battery, and can do 3 to 8 times more cycles ,for less cost, a LIfePo4 pack that provided level-2 charging in the Ami Tim and Boo's 30min lunch charge could add 50miles or more.
@@MeandMonAmi After more than a year putting LifePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries through use and abuse testing, and I've become a huge fan and advocate of Lithium Iron batteries over Lithium Ion. Add in the much lower environmental impact and safety of Lithium Iron Phosphate and the marginally greater weight and size over Li-Ion in small EVs and ebikes seems less of an issue than it might be in large battleship EVs, It seems to me with more charging locations, with a higher capacity Lithium-Iron batteries in the AMI, and much lower overall cost, I think most people would quickly prefer the AMI over their current land yachts. BTW: This summer I used my 1300watt DIY eBike, (sometimes with a single wheel Yakima trailer) for daily use and did a bit over 1,000 miles.That required about 30 Kilowatt hours or $2.75 in electricity to charge, and generated about 12kg in CO2. Driving that 1,000mi in my petrol powered vehicle would have generated about 500kg in CO2 and cost about $250 in fuel , and the eBike it was a fun and health improving option. I just wish something like the AMI was available in America, I'd use it for about 90% of my transport needs.

You could do a review of the French breakdown services. In the UK you have the AA and the RAC, which both help out motorists who have run out of fuel regardless of what type of fuel but it's more common for petrol cars to run out even when you take into account the amount of EV's on the roads. Let's see what the French have.

"To Dare is to Do!" as they say in north London...my recent 'thermique' rental 'through the Alpes" was with paper maps until they flew around the car on the hairpins while single handing and shifting. So I connected the US phone with a USB-C cable and Android Auto came to life - but in Tyrolian deutsch. A lifesaver. But I had never used smart phone navi at 73 years - learning freak out! But got if figured out! A lifesaver to find fuel and to return the rental at Terminal 2...duh...oh I get it now - Terminal 1 is the old, T-2 the new, ahhhh, we're in France rememebr! I'll get with you in a bit on the soutien.
I love watching your adventures, as well as all the techical stuff you touch on from time to time. I wouldn't mind more technical stuff, but I appreciate that some viewers ar more interested in seeing were you go, than how you get there. Maybe an idea to have a side chanel "Technically Mon Ami" where you can go more in details on technical stuff", and maybe maybe release reviews and tests over there, to let the main channel focus on your trips. I would enjoy some number crunching summaries of your trips, but I believe that could impact the ratings of your main channel. I think in depth technical videos could possibly benefit from their own channel. Testing batteries, reviewing accessories, testing other 'no permit vehichles". I would realy enjoy your review of Ligier Myli and other cars, because your deep extencive experience from owning the Ami, give a different and more interesting perspective to a review, than any regular car journalist. They tend to compare it to something its not intended to be. Just some thaughts; in the end it's your channel; and you know better what you want to do. ❤🙂☀️

Shame the tram doesn't run anymore, that would be a great trip along those viaducts. We did a tram ride in Innsbruck on the Stubai Valley Tram that goes up to a mountain village, it was tremendous. Great episode, I'm sure Elton got you there 🤔 Eventually.

Hi Guy's, I am still impressed with your courage, to even try these trips! Those views are amazing though... However, I was thinking: If you would attach your flexible solar panels (with ducttape or something) on the roof, you can recharge the Bluëttie while you drive! Because you already use power of it for the 'carpoodle-screen' and maybe for other electrical applications(?)! And you will keep of the heat of from that blasting sun! (every little helps 😉)

Hi lads from Spain where it is a little cooler at 29° (our max for the day!) That road reminds me of the one from Cazorla to Arroyo Frío where we sometimes go for a winter holiday. You do like to put yourselves into stressful sitruations. I suppose you had no phone signal so that you could put lunch on the back burner until you arrived. You really should take your own advice and stay charged.

Does the AMI have a OBD2 port? You could try to get a Bluetooth dongle to read the car/battery more pricier info and diagnostics from it. Maybe like teslabjorn does when reading the real status of the battery 🪫 when reviewing EVs
I think the reading on the dash is very accurate the problem came in the recent trip because we’d not accounted for having to go right back down to come back up

Maybe like teslabjorn does when reading the real status of the battery 🪫 when reviewing EVs
I think the reading on the dash is very accurate the problem came in the recent trip because we’d not accounted for having to go right back down to come back up
