His hip use, extension and power production, is great to watch. And learn too. This is a very nice classical kata, with one leg stances from the roots of Okinawan karate. Shito ryu style has many good katas in their repertoire.
Hasegawa Sensei is amazing. I had the honor of training with him this past weekend at a ShitoKai seminar in Florida. His technique and power is superb 👏
I Had the Honour of meeting the Hasegawa Family at The World Shitoryu Championships Tokyo 2013. They are true Karateka in every sense of the word. Thank you for sharing this video, The explanation is brilliant and has helped my Nipaipo immensely. Also to watch Hasegawa Sensei Compete in the Championships was amazing. Sensei and his school also performed a demonstration, There is nothing to compare to these guys. True hero's of mine.. Again Thank you ;-)
Dear Russy1965, you are welcome! I have a very high esteem of Hasegawa Sensei too! Please, stay tuned because I have a lot more material from this seminar!
Thank you for posting this! Just when I thought I knew Nipaipo, there are some distinct details that I needed to see and apply so I know this kata a lot better than I already did! Again, thank you for posting!
Dear Carlos, this was my same feeling when I took part to this class. As Hasegawa Sensei said, the great majority of people knows a sort of mixed version of Nipaipo, while in this video you can see the original Shito version. Stay tuned for other nice videos from Karate All Stars 2013!
Sat down with a cup of coffee to watch this. Totally awesome! I need to redo my Nipaipo that's for sure. Forgot all about my coffee. Thx for sharing Alessandro! You just got a new subscriber!
Dear Allan, your comment made my day!!! That's exactly why I keep posting these videos... to spread good karate and help people improve their knowledge watching the best Sensei in action! Your subscription will be rewarded with more cool videos soon!
Alessandro Timmi Well thanks! I would love to see the whole explanation all the way to the end. Now it ends about half way through. That would be a great x-mas gift for your subscribers. ^_^
Allan Knudsen Actually this was the entire lesson! Hasegawa Sensei showed the whole kata first, and then some details of the bunkai and the kata itself.
As a practitioner of Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu I appreciate he makes mention of the differences. It lets me have insight to how the Shito kai version is performed. This in turns helps me perform my version with greater understanding of bunkai. Although I for one tend to apply more literal bunkai to my training. I can analyze the technique and for myself use it in a way that works for self defense. The set bunkai that is taught is not wrong, but is also not the end all be all solution to a defensive situation.
LoL how interesting, hasegawa yukimitsu is 7 times world champion and all people are talking about is enkamp, not the technique or explanation of this work, lol

Couldn’t agree more!

Awesome demonstration of using hips and stances to deliver power and effectiveness.

Seminari molto interessanti!
Prenderne parte deve senz'altro essere bellissimo.

LoL how interesting, hasegawa yukimitsu is 7 times world champion and all people are talking about is enkamp, not the technique or explanation of this work, lol
8 thumbs down? ...some people!!!
yes, unbelievable...
This Kata needs to broken down more in a simpler explanation to those who do not understand Japanese.
Oh shiii. That's Jesse the karate nerd.
Did I see him compliment her chest?
Переводчица это пипец! Как можно на такое бесформенное тело надеть такую одежду!!! Насколько нужно себя не уважать и считать это нормой....
