Yeah, this seems like a WotC oversight. Literally only 1 creature with the "snail" creature type in mtg, as far as i can tell. Love the idea of this guy, but idk how to make it work with so little snail representation. Hopefully they'll update Wick's text to include Slugs? Or maybe they'll remove the distinction, and just combine Slugs with Snails 🧐
@@P4INt3d not 100% accurate, slug =nacktschnecke, snail = schnecke (mit schneckenhaus 🐌 ) On the artworks you can see that toxrill has not the typical snail shell, and Wick is wearing one on his artwork. BUT there will be a big messed up problem, as you mentioned, on German Toxrill has the same creature subtype - Schnecke (Snail) instead of the correct one (slug), as the snail Tokens. Thanks for pointing it out.
It's worth mentioning that there are other cards availible with a similar effect to MaskwoodNexus [Conspiracy, Xenograft] with a special mention to Artificial Evolution for just one blue. Also, Taurean Mauler is interesting as a "snail" that can build itself up fast in a multiplayer game without needing Wick to be on the board. Bloodline pretender is similar, but maybe not as fast? Reflections of Littjara also works well into what Wick wants to do, or for smashing with ImpactTremors or Purphorus. Lastly, Plague of Vermin can fill a similar spot as Song of Totentanz for a wincon Addendum; Hatred and/or Tainted strike, for self-evident reasons
Conspiracy is actually kinda bad unless you have a sac outlet, removal, or an etb, it creates an unstoppable infinite that causes the gane to end in a tie
I think its stronger in a equip deck. You have him as xommander and have a bunch of rat/dopplegangers and a lot of equip. You summon in some of the diff ways and then equip everything and explode it
If you could sac the slug with another effect it would be amazing. The problem is you have to sac the snail with that ability to get the effect. Leaving 3 mana open seems too telling for your opponents.
If you want to he silly and risk it all with Wick, play Plague of Vermin and pay as kuch life as you can. Yeah it costs 7 mana, but it'll sure be funny.

In german, the words slug and snail both translate to "Schnecke"

I wanted Capybara support from this set but this is the best I'm gonna get lol. They're just giant rats and the commander is in my favorite colors!

Yeah it could be more of a tempo stype play, either hold it up for that or spells from your hand
Callous sell sword would work as a sacrifice smash to face....
Idk Vren seems a little more busted for rats.
Vren also works great is this deck from experience
