Two years ago I came to this video, and listened this music millions and milions of times, a year ago I forgot about this, today, I was installing "Moka" on my pc and remembered of Meiko, and now the music is back to me :3
Reminds me of the story of Cupid and Psyche. Psyche isn't allowed to look at her husband's face, Cupid, and whenever he's in her bed, it is dark. When she gazes upon him, he runs away.
Why is she so underated? Meiko's talent is beyond words and descriptions. Keep on, Meiko, your music inspires everyone! This song takes me to another world.
Ha, thanks! It's cool for art to be vague and weird and whatever, but a commenter wanted some clarification, so I gave him one. It's not like this is Mullholand Drive or anything. I don't necessarily want people to draw alternate interpretations of the video. I set out to do something and I like to explain what that was, barring someone wanting to know, of course. I wouldn't just randomly talk about the video if no one gave a shit.
Personally, I don't like to over dramaticize relationship fights. I think it looks cheesy and forced so I wanted something a little more natural. I understand your desire to see more "emotion" but it just wasn't what I was going for, I guess. And with one take, a small space, moving band members around, choreographing the lights, etc... I did the best I could with the time I had. But I appreciate your comment.
I appreciate the pun! As for her "easily having the option to leave"...yes, she could walk out the door, but isn't that the whole thing with F'ed up relationships with power struggles. Of course you can always "leave" but it's not that simple. Nothing is. I realize in the video it seems like she could just walk out the door, but that's sort of a bigger metaphor for leaving a relationship, which we all know is often very difficult.
The light is a representation of his power over her. Every time he touches her (or something of hers) the light goes off, meaning that he is in power and in control of the situation (the light). She is pissy because she wants the lights on, she wants to expose the secret relationship. At the end the light transfers over to him, thus making it his burden now (she leaves him). Or...at least that is what I intended when I directed the video.
I feel like through the lyrics of the song it should be pretty damn clear who is angry and why. Deductive reasoning should get you there. The video is just an accompaniment to that and is supposed to be the fun of figuring out the "why."
She's not cheating on a boyfriend. The secret is that the guy's her brother, and they need the lights off so no one will see them in the same bedroom at night from the windows.
I usually listen to Melodic psytrance or Prog psytrance, so i originally thought this song i had was on one of those mixes. I have since listened to it, and have been messaged many times and been brutally made aware that it is dnb. It is definetely dnb. Thank you all for your consideration in educating my musical knowledge. The original is good, but i still think(maybe biased since i heard the mix first) that the mix version is a better version of the song.
As a guy who has been in a similar situation, if the two people truly loved eachother he would leave whoever he was with. if she /constantly/ dates committed men, she likely gets some sort of psychological excitement out of it. I think when a person cheats on a person it's the most disgusting deplorable thing ever. If you love someone else more, you don't go and fuck em' (sorry to be vulgar) behind your partners back. You leave your partner then get into a real relationship witht hem.
Yeah, i dont remember what mix it is in, but its in a Progressive Psy Trance mix by someone. I cant recall if its psy trance, prog, or prog psy in particular, but I think its pretty good, and maybe since i heard it in the electronic mix form first I like that version better, but this ones not bad either.
I didn't judge an entire race, but if someone says 'SO what?" when I mention that she's been having affairs, that means they don't think commitment is important. You take things way too seriously. Have you never heard of exaggeration to prove a point? And, it is a fact, commitment isn't held in as high standards now as it was say 50 years ago.
This is my first time going to this singers video so I didn't know how to pronounce her name. But I just looked her name up on IMDB and it says you pronounce it just like the Finnish hockey players name. Asian my ass!!!! It literally said, "pronounced Mee-koh." hahaha.
This isn't judging all of humanity. It's just saying that the majority of humans don't care about commitment. I don't know whether that's true, but your outrage is unwarranted. Plenty of people say stuff like "no one listens to good music anymore" innocuously.
I think its prettly clear this is about an affair, in which both people are attached to others. She has written a couple of other songs about cheating: Bad Things, and Boys with Girlfriends, so i think it a topic that she is interested in.
I know I'm considering that for my mix. He has a pretty damn good electro mix and there's another sorta interestingish dubstep mix out there too. Thus, I'm going to try to create an epic, uplifting progressive song ;D should be up by June 21.
Wow, Meiko is really good !!! Just get to know her 'cause she has a duet with Kris Allen on his album Thank You Camellia !!! Check it out everyone, she sounds great there !!! Oh and have a look at Kris Allen's song The Vision Of Love too !!!
she's in a secret relationship with a guy and wants to be public about it but she also already has a bf and is scared about the problems going public would bring even though she really likes the secret guy.
It almost sounds like she is cheating on her boyfriend with a girl and is saying that even though them being together is a secret she doesn't want to act like it's a secret when they are together.
Basically this; What is the light a representation of? I don't get that. They are obviously having an affair together. I get that. So my second question; Why is she getting pissy at him?
If Lady Gaga had a fraction of Meiko's talent she wouldn't have to rip off Madonna. I love Meiko and I can't wait for her new album. She is absolutely one of the most talented artists since the mid 90's.
There is no need to be so harsh. :/ I do not think it was meant to be an insult, or anything like that, just merely a simple observation. Both singers are talented and good.
I think this song means that they have a secret or sumthin but the guy wants the girl to forget it by turning the lights off. But the girl wants to remember it, do she wants the lights on
Don't usually get tached to poppy dance grooves by chix but I can't help myself on this 1...play'n this for feminine cuzzo when I get to Cali but he's prob.heard this already..?!
Hard electro dubstep would suit this song so much better, after listening to the Future Funk Squad Remix, listening to this is so plain, but adore the voice still~
the song is catchy but i hate the concept. you know a girl would never have this problem if she didn't cheat on her fucking boyfriend in the first place...

Same here xD
Kaatins yeap thats better than this one xD
Me too
@@Sudegink I actually think the original is better, but still like the dnb remix tho.
come back and listen
Am i the only one who thinks this is absolutely insanely sensational or am i totally out of my mind?
فقدت عقلك
if he was trying to get me to come back to bed, i would not question it =w=
I've been listening to a remix for years and now I fell in love with the original version... this song is truly amazing.
Exactly 😂
Why doesn't this have more views?
Reminds me of the story of Cupid and Psyche. Psyche isn't allowed to look at her husband's face, Cupid, and whenever he's in her bed, it is dark. When she gazes upon him, he runs away.
xPeke's playlist broght me here :D

She's amazing i can Sooo connect to the music
just saw her live yesterday... amazing. If you have the chance to see her live, do it!
Love this song and her singing she is an original artist.
He looks like a mix between Johnny Knoxville and Ian Harding.
And he acted in Suits the show
Why does this song have so few views?! Such a lovely voice!
osu!
Yeah man xD

I prefer stoto's version
@@dlllol I prefer Ranji's version
@@nutellafarm688 Droplex version is better
Acting level=porn. Song is great tho!
this is one of the first songs where i honestly can't decide which is better: the original or the remix by krot. both are great
The Culture Code remix also is great :D
the DNTST remix!
Gorgeous face & gorgeous voice. I am absolutely in love ^~^
She's not cheating on a boyfriend. The secret is that the guy's her brother, and they need the lights off so no one will see them in the same bedroom at night from the windows.
unfortunately i think the culture code remix is so much better =/ listen to it before any of you get annoyed :)
same! it's my favorite version
l know that it's a secret and that I gotta keep it, but I want the lights on, yeah I want the lights on ♥
I suppose I shouldn't have been so harsh but they sound absolutely nothing like each other.
The fear to face anxiety and to hurt feelings is not depending on gender my friend.
Peace.
Супер!!!
А вы заметили, что клип снят одним кадром? One clip is one frame.
i know that its a secret and now i gotta keep it
but I want the lights on
ya i want the lights on
and I don't wanna run away anymore
Saw her on the guitar sessions, she is awesome live
Hi JoshVol182! You are absolutely right!! I'm thinking exactly the same thing!! Take care Bye Nico

What don't you get?
Does anyone else think of Ellie Goulding listening to Meiko? Both are lovely singers.

Avicii dont have to, here is a remix, its just perfect
/watch?v=LN0FEWdjIlc&list=PLrmTAShc9wkkXDO3VnFOZQnyq5V1iBIDM
Its Approaching Nirvana remix
Ben Moon's remix brought me here. The original is nice, can't really say which version I like more. -But I'll check out more of Meiko's songs :)
Hi, please check out the DUBSTEP remix for Meiko's 'Lights on@ competition from CUTURE CODE - search Facebook for culture code to find the link
Meiko better go and thank Birgirpall for the couple thousand fans lol
not really. It's pretty obvious it's about a guy who keeps sleeping with her but doesn't want to tell anyone...the video shows this too.
She can't be afraid of the dark. In the end she leaves the light on him and confidently walks away.
A short in his hand? Like a blunt?
About 90%..? :P
Dont know Meiko, do now.. but still don't really know..
by getting here through the mix i actually like this song eh.. :P
Okay, who else came here after listening to the Culture Code remix?
Correction: From the Fox TV series "Lie To Me." There's also a Korean TV drama by the same name. And yep, it sure looks like him.
Yeah, well if that's the case, then she needs to be a woman and make a decision.
She needs to stop leading guys on, Goldilocks.
Nice and catchy but I don't think it has the sheer wonderfulness of "under my bed" territory!
keep it going Meiko! we love you!
:)
Culture Code remix is all that you need
I see the 2 words Beep Bep work very well on the human mind xD 190 thumbs up for only 2 words that was in a video? :P Herp...
love it... still
I heard this song on the radio about 3 days ago. But they never said who sang it, so I searched untill I found it!!! YAY!!!
Approaching Nirvana brought me here...
I like it, and Approaching Nirvana has a nice remix of this :)
She's 1/4 Japanese on her mother's side. She adopted the name Meiko in an attempt to get in touch with her heritage.
the daquta liquid dnb remix of this song is one of the best songs ive ever heard. I still like this version though
OMG!! You're so funny!! I saw your comment before watching the video, and I actually believed you!!! LOL =))
They added an electric guitar in the background instruments; otherwise it sounds the same as the album version.
The best remix ever from this song is the one by Under Construction, go check it and you'll see I'm right!
The number of likes he has seems to suggest to me that it actually does depend on gender...friend.
Peace.
Meiko is familiar with having affairs on people. Just saying " Boys with Girlfirends" and this song....
it's think not thing. thing is a stuff. think is which you used in your brain. if you have a brain..
niceeeee wooowowwuo wubwubwubwub dubstep sent me here xD
so in this video shes cheating on her man with this guy
The video just makes the song confusing
عندما تعلم أنها النهاية لاتمت جبانا
Cool Original Song.. but I like the Krot Remix also.
This is the guy from Lie To Me, isn't it?
No, I heard hr say what the song is about on windy city live. She said its about her cheating.
Patty Griffin sound-alike. Seriously. It's fucking crazy. At any rate, this song is incredible.
isn't the guy Brendan Hines? From Lie To Me TV Series
This is a safe place for you to come out of the closet. You don't have to be afraid anymore!
Oh... I see Eli Loker from "Lie to me" series here :)
Hands up who recognize this man :)
love it!! Meiko is soooo underrated! I hope she keeps on making wonderful music regardless
I've been looking at the vid for a while and he think he is the actor from "Lie to Me",
I agree that she is a good artist but somehow her voice reminds me of Ellie Goulding.
How on Earth does this have only 112,000 views? I was expecting more around 1 million
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions but I'm starting to thing she wants the lights on.
Am I the only one who likes the original instead of those shitty repetative remixes?
Well I guess you could say she had to,
Leave the lights on.
YEAAAAAAAAH!!! (⌐■_■)
HHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Two little words answered such a "complicated" situation.
