I used to work the night shift and the drive home was in the early hours of the morning before the sun went up. It was very dark and there were few to no cars on the road. When it became foggy, I would play silent hill ost and bgm music to make it scarier. It made the long drive home fun for me. I also did the same when I walked to the train station, and it was foggy before that but that was during the day with other people around, so it wasn't as scary.
I work overnights and when it gets cool and humid in spring and fall, it can get pretty foggy when I drive home through town. On Sunday mornings, there's hardly any cars and my town can look just like Silent Hill aside from the working traffic lights.
Fear is really strange because you kinda have to train yourself to be oblivious.
