When historians, other civilizations, aliens… or what ever, look back on the human race, I hope moments like these and music like this is remembered instead of all the crap that is around today. This is the human spirit at it's finest!
Keep making beautiful music.
All history needs to be told! The good, the bad, and the ugly! The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
If you were one of those "this crap we have today" guys 9 years ago I can't imagine how angry you are now lmao
Cory Henry is one of the best of us.
The tone of that organ is absolutely amazing
I LOVE THE WAY MUSICIANS TALK WITHOUT SPEAKING...GREAT JOB FELLAS!!! I AM A FAN
It warms my heart to see/hear young men (I'm 60!) playing this wonderful tune so beautifully. You've definitely got the natural feel and spirit for this genre. Stay together and keep making music.
I remember the night I first stumbled upon this video - it was such a breath of fresh air.. and then branching out via curiosity and YT algorihtms into Snarky Puppy, Bill Laurance, Thundercat, Nick Semrad, Knower, Bobby Sparks... aahhh... so glad to be around with all this amazing music :-)
check out the funk apostles...thank me later
@@Official_ShermyShay Yeah - sublime stuff!
These are human beings having a conversation, a great and real dialog without the limits of a spoken language. Just amazing and beautiful!
Right!!🤔
Fine, fine, fine groove. Michael proves once again, that the spaces are just as important as the notes. Thanks guys! #SnarkyPuppy
nat is a great drummer.... love his rhythm
7:30 Michael opens up a door and Corey digs it! haha
So much groove i can't eat my breakfast!
know the feel
Ben Brown, this made you spoil your breakfast 6 years ago.
I swear, Michael League and Cory Henry have the sweetest relationship. Cory is going absolute godmode and looks at Michael like "Right??! Right??!" and Michael is reassuringly nodding like "Oh yeah, that's right."
Warms my heart and they are both, or all three, incredible musicians
Nathaniel Townsley on the drums is no slouch! Got to sit in with both him and Cory at an open mic in NYC way back before Cory even joined Snarky. Easily every single member of that band that night are the baddest musicians on the planet! (no, I’m not including myself lol)
Real musicians.
Always loved this song.
Love the way the drummer maintains the groove.
The complicity of these guys, the understanding of what's going on at every moment is just fascinating! You can see how they are looking to each other constantly, how they enjoy the pleasure of listening to the others!! I love it!!
And the motiv from 6:40 onwards is so natural!!
This brother is so smooth on the keyboards...watch out for him....he is going to blow you away in many ways.........keep on doing what you do great...Cory.....
the groove from 5:45 till the end changed my life
Lol how so
This is a trio that I would pay to see. Great musicianship. Wow..... Mike is getting it done on the Greatest invention since the wheel. The esoteric Fender P Bass.
I've heard this song but I have for the first time, today, fully appreciated those changes and chord progressions.
I dig it!!! Who in the hell would thumbs down this though??? Out of all the covers of this tune that I've unpleased with, this one is so pleasing to the ears.
I thing they thumbed down by mistake or their outright tone deaf
Cory Henry looks 12 with that shaved head! Haha also probably the best keyboardist music has ever seen
He's up there for certain, but it's a crowded field: Art Tatum, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, to name only four.
I would add "that has emerged in the last 20 or so years...". But, YES!
Wadsmitter well said and I agree.
My dudes, check out Eddie Brown too. He sizzlin the new age soul sector.
I think he looks nice with a shaved head. Lol.
It's days like this when you find music this epic and life changing i love youtube. Amazing🙏
Man I can listen to this all day! So happy this kind of music exists. This is sublime, sweet, heartfelt, grooves like hell and kicks very serious ass! Love the drummer, the bass player is great - but of course Cory Henry kills it on the sweet soulful Hammond organ - as he always does! Thanks for this guys!
CH is probably one of my favorite musicians.
I play bass. And this is exactly the kind of band I would love to be in !
Amazing job fellas
Cory Henry is a Force of Nature! A 9th Wonder of the this World and the Next Worlds beyond this Realm! Hail! And Witness the Other Worldly and Divine Power of God At Work! Millions of pianist and organists have been born into this world and died, however, a Keyboardist with the depths of communication, articulation and execution that Cory Henry brings to the stage, has never been born before this young man came on the scene! I pray that the world will finally take note of this young man and support his every effort. Believe it or not, I am not a religious person, but when I heard his concert at Millenium Park last Spring, I felt an eerie sense of something protective, hovering over that entire event! I had read years ago that both of his parents had passed away, and that he was raised by his grandmother. I don't know him, and have never met his parents, It was thier presence that I sensed hovering and protecting as I looked up toward the sky surrounding that Millenium Park Concert! Everybody! Support Corey Henry and his group The Funk Apostles! There is definitely a Divine Hand on his Life!
I was mad when the 8 minutes were over. This trio was phenomenal and me being a church kid can't say enough about the beast on a Hammond b3 Cory Henry
That isnt even a b3
Pete This is the Hammond A100. Shorter case, no fold-down lid and has a built-in amplifier and reverb.
Nat.. every comment ever posted on this site is summed up by what you just said.. this truly is the human spirit at its best. The Human brain at its capacity.
Keep coming back to this. Sublime 🙏
Cory,,,you are unbelieveable on that organ,,,,,wonderful,,
OMG.......I've got to start coming on RUclips more...........Love B3's but this guy takes me to a whole different place.......And this was 2012...I'm living under a friggin ROCK plus it's one of my very favorite SW songs......EXCELLANT SUBSCRIBED 4 sure
Wow! Henry this is one of the best arrangements of Creepin i've ever heard!
Terry Booker, this arrangement TOOK THE CAKE!🎂
Of course I love Stevie's version best, but this is a close second!! All the players so groovin'. Thanks for posting!
Mike is a bass player that everyone would love I mean he's just amazing.
And Corey dude you nice man. A true gift from God him and Shaun.
I keep coming back to this video. You can feel the love and joy in this musical communion.
All I can say is that y'all made Stevie so, so very proud!!! Lovin' every minute of this!!!!
Catherine Prince, that is if ever Stevie Wonder hears and although blind, sees this piece.😇🤗
This is so good. It amazes me seeing the communication going on, especially between Mike and Cory. You just constantly see them throwing stuff at each other and the other responding and adding to it.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Can't resist returning to this rendition, time and again. This is SERIOUS MUSICAL INTERPLAY: Stevie Wonder should be proud of this!!!
2024 and still locked in!
This never gets old!
You're right, Isaac...NEVER gets old...it's fresh, seasoned well and very tasteful.
Much Respect. -Educapro
Isaac Eady, it gets newer and newer every single time.
Cory is so good it's scary. Effortless, seemingly!
Eerily so, if u ask me.
Beautiful, I am a huge Stevie Wonder fan and now I'm a Cory Henry fan.
Incredible for me this discovery. These young performers with three instruments are geniuses to me. I come from blues, jazz, soul ... funk and I find everything in this music. In short, the music that makes me feel good and I like to listen. I have enjoyed a lot watching this video. Thanks for this music
They have a great feel, and a great groove going! Excellent job on a Stevie Wonderful classic!
Outstanding gentlemen. Blessings to you all. Thank you for an absolute lush cover. Mr Wonder would be very proud and happy to have heard this played by you lovely guys. 👍🫡🫡🫡
Some say they are still jamming in that same room to this day........
Absolutely fantastic! Love the deep groove, and your organ playing is sublime!
Wow, well that was fun! Its amazing watching you guys play together. The pure joy and love of your craft pours out of you in a most wonderfully animated way. It was almost like watching 3 kids who are also best friends, playing their favourite game, which Im guessing in some ways is the case! I think I have to watch it again!
This young man is no joke Cory is gifted to play like that keep up the good work 🎹👊🏽
Moving as one! Beautifully. Thank you, gentlemen.
TOO MUCH! KILLIN it fellas.. Super funky, and thickness in the chords and the groove... Please post more!
Benjamin, Bidlack, they actually murdered it.
Just got better and better and better -- fat, joyous, solid and elastic groove, wonderful interplay between the players. So good.
I love every part in these trios. Bass, drums and keyboard - all fantastic!
Thanks, Corey! You guys blow me away…what a beautiful groove.
I've been watching your videos for most of this year. Missed the Snarky show in Philly bc by the time i found out about it it was sold out. Thanks for bringing real music back. Show these youngsters how create real music by putting in time, practice and sweat instead of sampling other people's art.
the line Nat is hitting at 5:06-5:08 is just so so so sweet☺️
Cory personality go flow over in his music. He is Legend.
one of the best covers I have heard in years...nice!
awesome trio....swinging hard on a great Stevie Wonder tune! Beautiful!
man, just incredible. really. awesome tune! congrats from brazil!
This is the 50th times i am watching this! it is just amazing
Serious music being played, people having fun while playing it, good lord why can't we have more of this in this world...
Bad cover. Stevie’s original is amazing. This is garbage 😢
Still one of my favorite videos ever
Awesome... You're listening carefully to each other. Great together.
Love it! Great energy! Brilliant, each one of you!
Glad to see young musicians playing for the love of music... Love Snarky Puppy please come to Houston and make more albums...
I can watch this over and over. All three lay so nicely in the pocket. And keep doing you Mike, you got the coolest head bobbin and facial expression. It all makes me smile. :)
its sick how these guys communicate thru the music man. i can never watch this enough. Wish there was more.
How can a person give this a thumbs down?...I dont love every arraignment he does, but this dude is phenomenal..
Real Music at it's best! 16 people don't have the slightest idea of what music is truly about!
I agree with you 💯 %!
THAT'S WHAT I LOVE @
THOSE TASTELESS BLAND
HATERS!😤😤
i'm looking forward to him and Chris Dave
my eyes would fall out of my fingernails if this happens
love this comment!
Incredible Hammond sound played by Mr Master. Very inspiring!
maaaan, that groove when it gets cooking at about 7:15 though!
Still Loving This!
Tasty and tasteful. You reinvent one of my favorite songs while keeping the original's funk and romance. The bass guitar could be a bit louder, but it sounds awesome.
Bass players face tells exactly how much his loving it
1:20 that Bass! That look on Nats Face! damn it is so sweet! i have seen this video 20 times now. and counting.
Amazing....You guys should cover an entire stevie wonder album and release it....that'd be AWESOME!
Talent! Love this version!
This should have 3 million views or more
My new favorite piece of music! Thank you.
First time hearing this and y'all did the damn thang!! Loved it I was singing with y'all
No words to do this justice. Just perfect. Hits all the spots.
I hope Stevie has heard this !!!!!! You guys are maddddddd
You guys are fantastic!
So nice to see these young cats making real music!!!
Uncontrollable smiles watching these guys. Killer trio!
CT in the house here;..is that an hammond A-101?..what was that smooth move @ 8:18 ..nice Cory!
No-one gets to this level without a lot of hard work, practice and dedication. And talent, of course.
Do you know the way to Carnegie Hall?
....
I was listening to Stevie's Creepin' in the background and then RUclips served up your recording. I was enjoying it so much and wondered if it was some alternate recording Stevie had worked on without vocals, so high praise to all of your musicianship that for a moment you had me wondering if I was still listening to Stevie.
1+1+1=10
These guys prove it! When I love life I like watching this.
Well, it's all great of course but I especially love the seamless change around 4.50 and Nat's lovely fills for the next twenty seconds or so. Lot of sympathetic playing - tasty.
Greatness!!! at its best. Will be transcribing this today!!!
Corey,he always kills me,Henry. Im grateful .
Love these guys!!! im goin too see them when they come over here to England this month with Snarky Puppy. Cant wait.
Cory Henry is the BEST LIVING KEYBORD/MUSICAL PLAYER THAT I KNOW OF WITH EXPRESSIONS ONLY 'CORY HENRY' CAN EXPRESS!
Smooth. Love that bass guitar sounds ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Wonderful tears of joy
I love how, from the 7 min mark, Michael and Cory keep almost heading into the chorus, trying to catch each other out. Especially Cory just after 7.40.
Estoy altamente contento con haber descubierto a Cory y compañia. hacia tiempo que alguien no me ponia la piel de gallina con su musica¡¡¡
