- The JJShorty is a fantastic razor little, and inexpensive, straight razor and, in this italian themed shave I am shaving with the excellent vegan Don Jose shaving soap. The brush today is from Omega, their Evo 2 fibre is breaking in superbly well and I really felt this will become a great brush.

Barbers used to put pre-shave on before applying hot towels as well and again after I believe, I also like to let the pre-shave sit on the face for a bit before applying lather, normally 5-10mins during which time I build my bowl lather. I'm also a fan of doing a short soap semi-bloom (5-10mins is normally enough) with a teaspoon of water over the soap scoop in the lather bowl, particularly on my firmer soaps (not so much with creams nor really soft soaps) and start my bowl lather build with a squeezed out brush, works great for me. I also find synthetic knots do tend to "loosen-up" after 5-10 lathers. Very nice looking lather today as well.👌🤠👌
The soap lathers so much more easily, as you know and what I like, is that I don't have any soap left in the bowls nooks and crannies when I clean it out. Cheers buddy, be well.👍
I always enjoy your straight razor shaves, Mark.
Hi Leon, thank you very much indeed, my friend. I hope you are keeping well, especially after your breakdown experience! Take care good buddy - I believe this is what truckers say 😀
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! It was nice to hear your thoughts on the Evo shave brush- appreciated! I hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead. Sending best regards, as always, my friend!
Hi Mike. I am enjoying the Evo more and more! Very nice. Take good care, my friend.
Ahhhh, so it quite literally is a case of "mirror, mirror, on the wall"😂😂😂
Oh yes.
Great shave my friend! Awesome jjshorty! Happy weekend
Thanks Sean 👍 I do like that shorter blade, it is very easy to shave with. Take care.
Nice shave Mark. JJ does great work. 😎
Thanks Mark👍
That shorty really is very attractive. It looks to the eyes of the uninitiated, to be ideal for a first time straight razor shaver. All in all, a very much luxurious shave with the highest levels of pampering.
Wishing you and your mum(please give her my regards) a lovely weekend and a great week to come.
I think it really is a good razor for the uninitiated, Lee. The small blade makes it easier to handle and a little safer. I will certainly pass your regards on to mam; it tickles her pink. Thanks mate.
Great lather with the Italian soap. Nice shave with the JJ s razor. Enjoy your weekend Mark
Thanks 👍 Same to you, Roy
Very nice shave Mark. Nice straight razor. Ive been using my shavette on and off for a year now. Im ready to get a real straight now. So i been looking. So many to choose from. Great soap choice you had as well.
The choice of straight razors is quite phenomenal Andrew! Good luck choosing😀
That looked really great !!! An excellent shave !!!
Thank you Graham! I hope you are all keeping well, my friend.
Lovely, Italian shave mission accomplished!
Thank you, agent Steve👍 This message will self destruct in 10 seconds...😀
Great shave, nice razor and absolutely beautiful lather. Lathering is my most favorite part of the shave.
Hi Mike - it's so good to create a lather when you start with none - it's kinds like real magic 😀
@FriendshipShaving definitely, making a lather and a nice one relaxes me. And applying it too. It's a satisfying thing and feel.
Nice combo shave today I do like that color on your straight razor 🪒 my shave was lea puck sandalwood and menthol shaving soap, with j j shorty dragon 🐉 straight razor 💈
Hi Brian, sandal and menthol, eh? I have not seen that combo! The JJ shorty is great - I love turquoise! I'm on the lookout for a nice turquoise sleeveless jumper 😀
Mark. Many thanks.
Thank you, my friend.
Cool🌲
Thanks!👍

Paul
Thanks, you too! We are all good mate. All the best to you both👍
Nice shave Mark! Great looking scales on that razor! I like the looks of the JJ shorties 😎👍 The mirror I use is on the medicine cabinet above the bathroom sink, so I'm not sure where to find a good magnetic one. My last SOTD: Stirling Arance Mandarini soap and splash(Blackfriday scent), WCS Midnight Collection razor with a PAA Platinum Strangelet blade, and the TRC Cherry Royale synthetic brush.
Have a good one!
Steve
Thanks 👍 Arance Mandarini, that's a new one for me, I shall have a look online. The Cherry Royale looks very nice with the ferrule part of the brush being quite reminiscent of a cherry. Lovely.
Nice shave Mark!! Back to straights.
It has been a little while.😀
nice shave mate . oh yes i do like a jj shorty i have 2 . easy to use and i like the style
I love it
Hi Mark. Always find the straight razor shaves exciting. I just can't master that way of shaving. I have a small double sided mirror in a drawer but don't use it for shaving. Instead I stand in front of a big mirror above the bathroom washbasin. In terms of mapping the hair growth on my face, I have a good idea which direction the stubble grows. Like you, I don't have any unusual or challenging patterns of hair grown on my face. Shaving my head is a different matter, because you're shaving "blind" at the back of the head. I just try to feel my way around with my left hand to find the bits I've missed! By the way, Mark, did you receive an email I sent to you on 21st August? I thought it might interest you. Have a great weekend mate.
Hi David. I think I would find head shaving a bit of a challenge, to be honest. I suppose if I had to, I would soon get used to it but I'm pleased I don't have that extra chance to cut myself. I did receive your email, thank you. Take care, David.
A slippy thumb sounds like some kind of emphasis.
On the note of which,"soapy" refers, for foreigns in Thailand at least, to a form of gentleman's entertainment, involving a bath, soap, and a young lady/man devoid of clothing, providing said entertainment.
I've always thought Thailand sounded like a great place 😂
