CC Particle Systems II + CC Particle World | Effects of After Effects

  • In this very long tutorial, I explain how to use the CC Particle Systems II and CC Particle World effects in Adobe After Effects. Both effects are fantastic particle emitters that come with After Effects and can create amazing effects. CC Particle Systems II is a 2D particle emitter, while CC Particle World is a 3D particle emitter. Both have very similar sets of controls, so make sure you watch this video in order as I don't go back and explain repeated controls in CC Particle World.

I don't know why this doesn't have more views. I've been using particles in AE for YEARS and I've never seen a more interesting, in depth breakdown of how these effects work (AND IT WAS INTERESTING! I actually didn't fall asleep during an AE tuturoial!) Thank you soo much for this!!

First of all, the amount of work you put into this is incredible. I took your PS & AI Unleashed course (which I highly recommend) and you have this amazing ability to break down complex subjects and make them accessible to novices. The fact that you are putting this out for free is astounding. Seriously, if there was an award for Best Tutorial, you would win it :D
Secondly, people swear by plugins such as Particular, but what this video really shows is that with patience and creativity, you can create some amazing things in vanilla AE. I myself had to pause and go back a couple times, because my mind had wandered off thinking of all the possibilities. Truly inspirational!

Could not have said it better myself. I too took the PS & AI Unleashed course, and I felt I was right back there getting that amazing methodical breakdown so I could grasp the tools and put them to creative use. Thank-you Jake!

      Another good thing about Jake:
He uses a reasonable screen resolution and zooms in when needed so that we can see exactly what he's doing, unlike those big ass screen tutorials where you can barely see the cursor.

Great tutorial, thank you. I'll be returning to this and your other tutorials. I'm glad I didn't just try to "play" with it, as I have with many effects in this and other programs...without your tutorial, I would have missed a lot and completely wouldn't have understood why some controls even existed, because they would have appeared to do nothing at all. Some effects and programs by Adobe, I find are fairly intuitive, this isn't one of them. Thank you again.

This is a pretty great walkthrough. Like everything else in AE, particle simulation properties can seem redundant and useless until you find out how to use them properly. Can't stress enough how important it is for beginners to go through comprehensive tutorials, no matter how boring or irrelevant they may seem. This stuff is cumulative, and unlearning bad habits is much more annoying than learning sound techniques. Thanks for your work; it's always nice to come back for a refresher on a property I haven't used before.
