- Tigit Jon runs us through one of the most important pre-flight checks. Checking your oil.
Engines rarely fail, but if they have no oil, then the inevitable is waiting to happen.
Thanks for sharing sir. Before this video I didn't know how to use the checking stick on the oil screw 👍👍👍
I’m going to be spending all of December in Vietnam and plan on riding a motorbike for a portion of it. I’ve binged your channel for the past couple of days after discovering it and so many questions have been answered.
I love the no nonsense but comprehensive presentation with the clean / minimal editing 👌🏻
Another great video.
I’ll be using Tigit for sure.
Thanks for the comment
Follow the instructions in the bike's owners' manual. There isn't one way to check oil. Depends if the engine is wet or dry sump. And you rarely screw the dipsick all the way in when checking the level. I have only owned one bike in almost 450,000 km where you had to. Fake oil is a problem in Thailand, too.
I'm sure the people who hire your bikes need advice, so a good video.
"Follow the owner's manual" is one of the most annoying pieces of advice that people give on motorbike topics. If you actually open up most service manuals they are unclear and fairly useless.
A service manual is fine for mechanics, or people with plenty of time to decode low res pictures. But not that helpful to a weekend rider who just wants to ride!
@@Tigitmotorbikes Sorry, I just meant the book of information you get with the bike. It gives clear instructions regarding checking oil level.
I agree about service manuals. They assume a level of technical knowledge and explain things using terminology that you won't know unless you've studied mechanical engineering in the first place.
@@user-sw2lv3zp6o The owners manual for the XR150 states NOT to screw the dipstick down after wiping, to check the level. So one would be running somewhat under if one did the shown in the video. And if the XR150 is prone to burning oil, one might want to be at the proper level to begin with
The honda xrm 125 owner's instruction manual says to check the oil...put the motorbike on its center stand...take the filling cap/ dipstick out and wiped it clean...reinsert it without screwing it in to check oil level
Like your video but 2 things I question. 1) you dont normally screw the dipstick back just hold. 2 you should start an engine for a minute or two, then stop and wait a few seconds. Its not so much about hot and cold but you have to ensure the oil is around the engine and not all drained to sump.
Thanks for the feedback
You are not supposed to screw the dipstick in for checking the oil level.
Good to know. Dipstick is a range reading, so shouldn't matter much. But not screwing will save time! Thanks
Very informative, thank you
Excellent video: tyvm... very informative.. got what i neeeded in first 1/2 .. but very good for new peeps or peep with no forks in family tree .. tyvm ..
i really need to get one of those dipsticks. looking through the glass doesn't give me a good indication on how dirty it is :/ i put coathanger inside to check it and quickly realized that was a dumb idea
Is the Oil check every two days necessary on the Blade's as well?
Not really no. But it would help avoid a disaster.
But ye, basically the Blade nearly never breaks, so you don't need to check.
Good info, good advice.
Thank you
Hallo. Se mtech crash bars are good or they bend?
They provide protection in plastics from scraches at norma road conditions?
I have yamaha yzf r125. Should I screw the stick back in all the way to check the level correctly or just dip ut back in nd take out for the reading?
The XR manual says to use bike-rated oil, SG or better. Easy to get in Vietnam, or ust use what they have? Thx
You can get oil everywhere in Vietnam.
Hey just one question.. this level check you do at what engine temperature?
Should qe check when the engine is completely cool down or at operating temperature.. ?
Thanks in advance
I think you are supposed to run the bike, then let it cool, and then check. But I can't remember.
In the end, the dipstick is a "range" test anyway. And from my experience, checking when cold, or checking when hot, has had no major impact. What we are looking for is that the bike has enough oil. This isn't a test for a race bike that needs exact levels.
@@Tigitmotorbikes I have always experienced that oil level at cold and hot makes hell of a difference.
I have seen when cold, oil does not show up at all in the glass window. And when the temperature bar is 4 up oil level starts showing up in that level marker.
Btw I own a KTM Duke 390
Ist it a RADIOsession??😮😮When you do Video you SHOW the object in case and NOT YOUR FACE most of the time
