  • Founded around 150 years ago during the reign of King Rama V at the confluence of three khlongs (‘canals’), the Hua Takhe community was once a bustling waterway junction.
With the advent of transport by roads it’s been forgotten by time and the more than a century year old wooden houses alongside a walkway next to the riverbank give a glimpse of life from a bygone era.
Almost untouched by time despite occasional attempts to place it on the tourist trail, Hua Takhe has plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores blended in with a thriving arts and crafts scene and has a deep Chinese influence. Busier at the weekend its very quiet and peaceful during weekdays.
Hua Takhe takes its name from "Croc's Head" as during the excavation of the canals a crocodile's head was dug up.
Hua Takhe market and community is situated in Lat Krabang, it’s less than 10 km from Suvarnabhumi Airport and less than 25 km from Bangkok City’s Sukhumvit Road in Phra Khanong district.
Hua Takhe market and community is just 200 m off Lat Krabang Road (Sukhumvit 77) which stretches directly from Sukhumvit Road in Phra Khanong district.
Hua Takhe market and community is located down Lat Krabang Soi 17 which is home to Udompon Market.

Thanks very much for your comment. I notice quite a few students come to study in the market as it has some nice coffee shops/cafes, although the best/biggest one seems to have closed since I last went there a few years ago,

Thanks for your comment, much appreciated. I can imagine how it must have been thriving in the past, now it's quite quiet except at the weekends, when it gets busier. I live not far from there, I like this area and not expensive at all.
