Been sewing 50+ years and have never seen the facing folded over, topstitched in this manner. Still finish the facing edges, sew, understitch then either stitch in the ditch or topstitch. Or do bias binding. Going to try your way as it does look polished. Also, I never clip curves anymore. Nancy Zieman trimmed instead as shw felt notching weakened the fabric. It actually does work better. Thank you for your video.
Glad you found this helpful!
I truly love how neat it looks outside and inside and how clear your step by step instructions are. I just have a hard time with the line of stitches around my necklines. I wish there was a way to make those stitches invisible. I guess I could make them invisible but still...
You could hand blind stitch the final line, instead of topstitching as I did.
Excellant thank you for showing the last stiching to hold down the facing ....nobody else is showing that and I am a beginner so I needed to see that ! 😃👏🏼👏🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Hello from west Texas. I’ve just gotten back into sewing after about a 25 year lapse. This is a great tutorial. I will be saving it for reference. Thank you so much.
Glad it's helpful!
Thank you so much - now I can see what ‘under-stitching’ is! 😄
Glad it's helpful!
Very detailed instructions on v-neck facing. Liked the fact that you used somewhat challenging material and stripes no less. I gained some different ways to finish and grade my necklines. 👍🏻

The best I have watched so far. Thanks for sharing.

Most of the work is in the preparation, nice finished v-neck.
Yes, prep work helps ensure a nice finish.
The end result is so nice

I just love that fabric! Where did you get it from? Love your tutorial also thanks for sharing!
Both the fabric in the thumbnail and the one I sewed in the video were remnants purchased at a fabric warehouse.
Thanks
Welcome
Very neatly done!

Hello I love your youtube videos and I'm really learning a lot from you. I have a request I would like to know may you please do a video on how to draft a body shirt and sleeve pattern my daughter love those kind of shirts. Thank you
I'd suggest my Abrazo Tee pattern for that blankslatepatterns.com/products/abrazo-tee
This is exactly what I was looking for. I need to draft my own facing, what width did you cut yours out? Thanks very much.
You need to cut it at finished width you want + seam allowances.
Nice video, very helpful. :)
But do we have to use interfacing or can we just use another layer of the same fabric? I did not purchase any interfacing and would like to know if it is needed.
Because interfacing is a nonwoven fabric, it provides stabilization and support that just fabric can't. However, it won't likely ruin your garment to skip it if you are using a fairly stable woven fabric.
@@Mellysews Ok thank you!
V nice
Thanks
The Esma top on dress form has a sleeve variation that does not seem to be included in the Esma Pattern. Can you share that?
Next week 🙂
Hi, can I use heat n bond as interfacing or from where I can buy that? Thanks
no, heat and bond doesn’t work the same way.
Am Blessing from Ghana can, you please help me with how to stitch in a ditch on a round neckline

Mam,
I want to stick top which you wearing in this video.can you teach me? please
The link to the pattern for the top I'm wearing is in the video description.
The neckline of my top curled outwards after I sewed the self-fabric bias strip on the neckline. I did not under stitch the facing. Is that why it curled outwards?
That was probably a contributing factor
What stich do you use?
? a straight stitch
Maaaannnnnn 😭
I was following what you were saying not looking exactly on how you were doing it and I never heard you say pin to the front side of fabric so that late to follow to the inside... now I have to unstitched 😅😢😭😭😭🤷🏻♀️ dyslexic for ya 😂
On the bright side, I bet you never repeat that mistake. Fails are the best way to learn in sewing.
Who else has problems with fusible interfacing coming off in the wash?
This is why you want to finish edges of interfaced fabric.
