  • Lobongo Lotika recipe: Bengali cuisine is no stranger to sweet tea-time snacks, and certainly not to those that involve kheer, flour, and deep-frying. Lobongo lotika, like mishti shingara and goja, is a flaky, deep-fried, sugar-syrup-coated pastry. Like the mishti singara, it is also filled with kheer. But what gives lobongo lotika its whimsically poetic name is the fact that the kheer envelopes, once folded, are sealed with a single clove (lobongo)

    I just applauded loudly when the first lobongo lotika was packed. It looked so neat. Not sure whether the people in the library liked my clapping though.

    I LOVE YOU Bong eats. I was never good at making bengali dishes (especially fish curries) but you are the reason for bringing smile on my face when my bong hubby says “Darun” while eating fish dishes prepared by me. Keep shining Bong eats !

    I am a very inactive social media person, but I feel compelled to write this today. I am a lobongo lotika fan and would have eaten a million of them in my life. I made it at home following this recipe, and it was hands down by far the best lobongo lotika I've ever had. There is not a single video on your channel which hasn't amazed me. Every single one that I have tried has come out exceptionally well, even something as simple as a kacha moong dal. Take a bow.

    Being a bong away from home, I love to follow your channel...how you cover each and every detail our mother , grandma use to teach us when we simply sit beside the oven and watch them. But now I understand important of those totkas. I love how you specially mention those totkas.

    Kheer.... Again the star ingredient is back in action. I m not an very big Fan of this sweet... But don't really mind munching upon them when they r freshly made and still warm. I loved the way u guys have showed how to achieve that flakey and crispy pastry dough... I m sure it only makes our job more easier to make these Lobong Lotikas perfectly.

    Can I make it in advance? How many days will it stay good? How do I store it room temperature or refrigerator?

    • @BongEats
      @BongEats  7 лет назад

      Yes, of course. We have kept our for up to a week. Just let them cool down completely in a colander or a wire basket where air can pass on all sides. If the weather where you live is very hot and humid, store in the fridge in an airtight container. In cool weather they keep well in an airtight jar at room temperature too.

    I love this exquisite work of art - so neat, and uniformly appealing. It reminds me of my distant childhood when my mother and my aunt would prepare labangalatikas for puja season. Could I ask you, I wonder, for another favor? Could you please show us how to make narkeler chire (uniformly and finely chopped coconut to the thickness of rice kernel, all then dipped in sugar syrup)?
