Nice comparison guys. I've yet to pull the trigger on a bottle of the Kilchoman, but the few samples I've had, I've enjoyed. Cheers and here's to the next one!
Kilchoman actually states that the 2020 has 9-13 yr old whisky, while the 2021 has 9-10 yr old whisky. As we know peat tends to mellow as whisky ages, which probably acounts for the sharper peat in the 2021. My experience is also that peat tends to mellow with oxidization. Since your 2020 was already open with significant airspace, this could also be effecting the sharp taste of the 2021. Would love to see you re-review in 6-8 months to see if you notice a difference. Great review though!
Great review guys - I've just bought a bottle of the 2021Loch Gorm but yet to try. Do you think the fact that the 2020 bottling has been open longer with more oxygen in the bottle may have softened it slightly when compared to the 2021?
Very helpful comparison guys cheers 🥃

My thoughts exactly!
I love the Machir Bay and the Sanaig. Have to pick this one up as well!
